George HotelGeorge Street, PE29 3AB Huntingdon (Show map) Very good, Score from 118 reviews“A lovely old hotel, friendly helpful staff and a good breakfast. Stayed at the hotel as a friend had booked the function room for a party in the evening, we all had a good night! The hotel rooms are nice and comfortable but the bathrooms were a little basic/tired, overall the location is good with free parking and the hotel offered good value for money. ”

Top marks for the staff who were warm and friendly. The delightful courtyard looked beautiful. Good atmosphere in bar. Breakfast good with excellent choices. Bed comfortable. Good location for our purpose-in house party and only a short walk from shopping area. Good spot for inexpensive lunch. Our room (4) was not as clean as our previous stay. Based over an extractor fan, it was noisy. No space for non-smokers in lovely courtyard. This poor, tired hotel is badly in need of decorating-a lick of paint and wallpaper would do the trick initially..... Evening meal pleasant but average. Car was damaged in the car park

Hotel and associated pub are quite old and some may say that it has character. It is centrally located in Huntingdon so it is close to local shops / amenities. Staff were friendly. Rooms were a decent size. Breakfast was good. It is very dated - needs to be totally modernised. Typical old English pub type accommodation, complete with squeaky floorboards. No real ale in the bar. Being on a main thoroughfare, there was a lot of noise on Saturday night / Sunday morning from passing groups of youths - until 3am.

The hotel is central in the town and has parking facilities. The hotel building is old but appealing, as retains so many period features. The courtyard is most attractive with colourful flower arrangements. We stayed for 3 nights and without exception the staff were friendly and helpful. The bedrooms were basic but adequate and clean. The breakfast choice was plentiful with variations on full English plus a wide choice of cereals/continental. In our opinion the hotel gave good value for money. My colleagues and I used 3 bedrooms and in each room the decor was dark brown/black carpets and curtains, together with dark brown furniture. In our opinion this was unattractive and somewhat depressing! Similar decor was also used in other parts of the hotel. Given the charm of this beautiful old coaching inn, the interior colour scheme does not appear to do justice to the George Hotel. However there were several rooms that we did not go in E.G. conference/business rooms, also there a wedding reception on the day we arrived, so perhaps some of the rooms we did not see are more pleasing on the eye!

Not a lot, decor on the ground was pleasent, but he rest of the hotel was tired looking and the breakfasts were very disappointing with the food pre-prepared (frozen omolette), bad coffee and tea.

The location of the hotel was excellent. It has a great atmosphere as an old coaching inn with a fabulous courtyard banked with flowers at many levels which make it a wonderful place for a drink or casual meal. The staff were friendly and helpful. The breakfasts superb. The hotel as three levels and no lift. This makes it difficult for travellers with luggage or for older people walking up steep flights of stairs. The two dinners we ate there were average and certainly not gourmet cooking in any way.

The bar service after hours was great with a very friendly bar man. The reception staff were very helpful about an early check in and stored luggage for us, and they weren't fussy about our late check out either.

The room was a good size for a single - and a 4ft double bed which was comfortable. The guy that checked me in was helpful. I was cold and no extra blanket in the room. There were cobwebs on the ceiling and dribbles of something down the wall of my room - I found 4 hairs in the bathroom that were not mine. I mentioned that I was cold and the hairs when checked out - receptionist not helpful and had to be prompted to at least apologise. The house keeping staff rapped really loudly and abruptly on my door in the morning - despite the do not disturb sign and I still had about 15 mins before check out... surely they could have waited until the check out time! Despite these things I would stay again as overall a nice hotel - I would just make the staff aware of any issues at the time.

The menu was a little different and well delivered. It had a nice atmosphere. I would have preferred the billed items for drinks and bar to be broken down, as we were unsure they were correct (£40).

The george is well located near town centre, we have stayed there before and this time we took 2 friends as well. The meal deals are very good value for money. The towels and bedlinen are spoltless and we really enjoy our weekend there. This is the third visit to the George now and it gets better everytime.

It was very convenient for us being near family and was competitively priced. The menu and food were excellent. Unfortunately we stayed over a weekend in December and were subject to dinner dances with loud discos immediately below our room. This is understandable at this time of year but perhaps it would be a good idea to advise visitors at time of booking that this may be the case.

Everything was ok except we were in the room furtherest from anything, up two flights of stairs, no lift, too much for us staying three days. Also our room was very small compared to others, no easy chair to sit in, would describe that room as a large single, well serviced for a busuness person, ironingboard iron free wifi desk and chair for work.Central location, staff very friendly and helpful, just location and size of room for three nights stay not suitable, Location and size of room.

The George proved to be a lovely place for our over night stay. Our room was very comfortable, well presented and spotless. However the biggest plus was the attitude of all the staff - reception, bar, & restaurant. They were very polite, really helpful, and nothing was too much trouble. It made a big difference to us, to be surrounded by cheerful smiling and happy staff. Our full English breakfast was served with care and very tasty! We would certainly stay at The George again. A great service experience for the price!

I love the topsy-turvy design of this old coach house with different level corridors The staff, although very helpful, were a little stretched. For instance, when I arrived at the hotel, I had to wait for over 10 minutes for someone to come to reception.
