The comfort, the staff, decor. Restaurant service particularly good. Paying £17.00 odd for four small bits of not very flavoursome lamb. Thought that was over the top in comparison to other places. Hearing the Chef have a 'verbal' with one of the male waiters and not be aware we were all looking at him.

Location, dinner at the brasserie (food more than service). Bed comfortable but terrible pillows. The Deluxe room was not what expected. Upgrade to Junior Suite just make it to a Deluxe expected standard. Not every member of the staff is equally prepared and skilled for a good client service

Clean, well set out and refurbished, senior staff try to please, decent European standards in an English pub turned hotel No dvd in each room, staff got orders wrong a few times, more junior staff pretty surly, menu could improve with some specials, no parking

Excellent breakfast and good wine in the bar. Very comfortable bed and room. Interesting historic building. Overall a lovely place to stay. Lock on the door did not work. It was repaired quickly, but it would have been nice to have been offered a drink or something while we were asked to wait. There is a need to repair a number of small faults throughout the hotel. Other than this it was an excellent place to stay.

Very comfortable, we were made to feel very welcome, the special meal on our first night there for the Scallop Festival was outstanding and excellent value for money. We would definitely stay again at the George but for a special occasion as although good value for money, slightly more than our normal budget. This was my fault not the hotel's, but the stairs leading up to the room were a bit much as I am disabled, I should have asked for a room on ground level. Also the room was quite cold and the bathroom in particular was freezing.

The Grill was excellent. The George combines high quality with individuality; good service with relaxation. Had the menu in The Grill altered during our four day stay we would have used it more.

Beautiful hotel and restaurant in a cracking location. Rye is a stunning medieval town superb place for a weekend break near the coast. NY eve was a great fun, a cracking night. Our 2nd visit to Rye and The George and both have been 10/10!

The service was exemplary and our room was lovely - including the shower with a view! The little touches in the room and the super soft bed linen completed the luxurious experience for us. The hotel location is perfect and we loved our stay so much we have already booked a return visit. Just two disappointments which could easily be addressed; the divan in the room was very visibly stained, which I would not have expected in a four star hotel and the lack of any vegetarian main course options on the menu in the Grill Restaurant; I'm afraid to say that the veggie sausages at breakfast were also dreadful. These concerns have not put us off a return visit however.

Everyone was friendly. The hotel was clean and efficiently run. It's location on the High Street was good for shopping. The fact there was no car parking at the hotel was a bit of a draw back. This was our first visit and on reflection we would not have booked room 46 as the stairs were a bit difficult for my wife to negotiate as she is over 70. On a positive note the room was lovely though!

Beautiful hotel, nicely designed, good service. Not overly formal / casual in style. Exactly what you'd expect of a boutique hotel and it delivered on expectations. Also, Rye is a great town with lots of character. I would recommend you book for lunch if turning up on a weekend. We couldn't get in or we'd have to wait for 40 mins. I would also suggest it's worth paying a little extra for a superior or above room.
