The 300 year old George Hotel provides comfortable accommodations for visitors to the historic town of Battle. Visit the place where English history changed forever. Walk over the battlefield where William the Conqueror stood. The George Hotel was established in 1699, but there has been an inn on the site for over 600 years. Previously the town hall of Battle, the George building was once a military court during the Napoleonic wars. All rooms have private bathrooms, with TV and tea making facilities. Full English breakfast is served freshly cooked between 7am and 9am. Continental breakfast can also be served in your room by prior arrangement. The hotel is popular with wedding parties and tours, being within 5 minutes walk of picturesque Battle Abbey. Battle itself provides a great choice of restaurants and shops, while the seaside towns of Hastings and Bexhill-on-Sea are less than 20 minutes drive away. Battle train station also provides an excellent train service to London, with direct access from Charing Cross and London Bridge train stations. Please note that the hotel has no elevator. The hotel is strictly non-smoking. Hotel Rooms: 22 Most recent booking for this hotel was yesterday at 10:35 from United Kingdom.

The room was clean, warm and comfortable. Although this is advertised as a hotel it is now a bed and breakfast establishment. The former hotel bar and restaurant (at the front of the building) have been sold off to an Italian restaurant chain. Access to the accommodation is now via a side alley only. There is no room service or other facilities - just breakfast.

A prime position in the centre of a pretty, little town with plenty of good restaurante to choose from. Although the entrance to the hotel looks unpromising, the rooms were spacious, clean, comfortable, well- appointed and quiet despite the town-centre location. Breakfast was good and substantial. Excellent value for money.

Well situated, friendly staff, parking Room required painting & decorating, double glazing would help reduce the noise from the street as well as help with room temperature, heating system was very poor & consequently the room was very cold during the night, floors are noisy & uneven due to age which means it is very noisy when those above you are walking about, tv reception poor, no list of telephone numbers for reception, etc. in the roomm, would also recommend hooks & more towel racks in the bathroom

the location, lady who cooked breakfast was very friendly.YOng gilr at reception friendly. room needed finishing eg tiles under shower missing and by bathroom door. sign of damp on walls in room .Ring to hold back curatins came away from wall. Duvet covers had no way of sealing in duvet, eg buttons or ribbon so came away from duvet. Reception very dull and none friendly. Sign showing where George is only on one wall, so can only see it from one direction coming up high street not down.

The location in the heart of the town centre amongst the shops, cafes, pubs and restaurants is by far the best feature of the guest house. The ad-hoc reception and the side entrance make it feel more like a dormitory or hostel. I was pleasantly surprised with the comfort of the basic room, given the poor intorduction.

It was above the restaurant that we had a meal in. There was no indication that one of the rooms had been cancelled. The English of the person on the desk was not very good. The lights in the room were not bright enough. The bed seemed very small and the duvet did not really cover two people in comfort. We did not stay for breakfast so cannot comment on that.

Location, friendly staff, good welcome & good breakfast, In the process of being updated by new owners. Poor parking,no heating in our room & noisy floor boards. But the building is a few hundred years old and would expect a few creaks etc.

There needs to be a light outside the entrance door. We came back late and could hardly see to fit the key in the lock/ Also the bathroom was very tatty and the quilt was barely big enough to fit the bed.

We liked the location in Battle for being central to other places etc. Cooked breakfast was good but selve service for coffee & tea not a good idea. I'm afraid there were quite a few things wrong which I won't go into as they say they are refurbishing, although the price didn't reflect this. The bathroom was a big disapointment and couldn't use shower. We feel 1 night would be plenty (we had 5) and it is more for passing through and families, not a comfortable break.

“On arrival the place immediately had character and there was plenty of parking space. It felt warm and comfortable and definitely relaxInn! Reception was efficient and customer service was genuine from every member of staff. The girl who served my supper waved to me the next dfay when she was riding past on her bike! The food was well cooked and presented, both supper and breakfast the next morning. I actually tried to change my plans to stay another night. A stay which certainly exceeded my expectations!” Denea, Bonchurch |
