The George23 High Street, Battle, TN33 0EA (Show map)
Good,
Score from 125 reviews
“ Loved the original staircase with the skylight at the top. The communal areas looked a bit tired but everywhere was clean and tidy. The breakfast was good value for money I thought. Full English as well as toast, cereal a juice. Our room was great. View over the front of the building onto the high street. ”

Location in the centre of Battle. Room for parking the car. Shopping facilities; historic castle and nice countryside nearby. It is not a hotel with a hart, no contact whatsoever with the clients. Rather unfriendly atmosphere.

Lovely 17th century hotel, was welcomed by a very nice man. The room was a lovely size and had a nice view of battle high street. Had a very nice breakfast and was pleased at the choice on offer. Wouldn't hesitate to stay here again :) No real negative comments although I found the all white bedding a bit too 'clean' could have done with a splash if colour :)

The George is a lovely characterful Hotel with creeking floorboards and a real sense of history and a car park. Located perfectly in the town centre and walking distance to the Abby. They do a really tasty well presented breakfast too. The only down side is traffic noise but that's just a small price to pay for a lovely stay.

The room was spotless. We like the TV. The four post bed was great. The shower room was most refreshing and above all very clean. The only think we wasn't keen on was the early 10 check out.

Friendly staff. Room was cold and took a while to heat.It was a room directly on a busy road so was very noisy as there wasn't any double glazing. If i was staying there in future i'd ask for a room at the rear of the hotel.

Not a lot, the only good thing was the shower was hot. When we returned to our room at 12 midnight, after being at a wedding all day, it was very cold and the bed was absolutely freezing and did not feel aired. Found it very hard to get to sleep and would not stay there again.

Good breakfast and nice service . Hotel near Battle Abbey and central to all of battle. Nice hot shower. Relaxed atmosphere. Welcoming manager on arrival. fair price. main road a bit noisy. The council need to repair the roads particularly manhole covers / drain gratings in roads as when traffic goes over loose covers there is a repeated, annoying clanking.

Location. Price, breakfast was good, but although the man serving us was pleasant, he was scruffy. Only one man doing everything. Not a customer friendly hotel. Luke warm water. Bed not made properly.

Very friendly staff, the hotel is quite big with good sized rooms and comfortable beds. The attic rooms were quite quirky with fantastic views over Battle and the staircase leading up was beautiful - made us feel like film stars descending at breakfast. Lovely breakfast and cute waiters thanks The internet wasn't very good in the attic rooms so we had to go down a floor to use it.

Good private car parking. Central location. Not expensive. Grumpy and miserable reception. Unhelpful. Very noisy with much "stomping around" on upper floor most of night. No bar or amenities of any kind. Beakfast slow and dull.
