On arrival told restaurant was closed and advised to eat at the Bull which was an excellent suggestion? The location in the river is stunning This is a tired, function hotel ie it is set up to cater for large functions and the rooms are really to cater for anyone wishing to stay over following an event. The car park although large, was packed and we had to wait 15 minutes for a space. In the evening bar staff sat at a table chatting, eating bags of crisps and it seemed as much beer as they wanted.....not very welcoming. The bar itself was small and not at all cosy or quaint.....just functional. This hotal disappointed us all, bedrooms were shabby and beds sunken in the middle.

2Nd stay in recent times. Great hotel, good service, fine food. Allocated a wonderful room, but it turned out to be noisy - by the roadside. I requested a quieter room and was relocated swiftly and happily. If I didn't mind traffic noise, then my first room would have been a real treat! The shower in room 11 was incredibly noisy when in use!

Beautiful surroundings and very close to the place where my meeting was. I was told that the breakfast was included in the hotel price but in the morning when I came down from my room I asked the receptionist where to go and she explained and pointed the direction. I walked into three different rooms. One of the rooms seamt to be the place where you eat breakfast but no-one was around so I just left.

The building has an interesting history although the fabric of the hotel doesn't capitalise on this and habe no particular authenticty. The location just by the Thames is fabulous. Dining facilities are extensive and the food was good Upgrade the televisions to flat screen, wall mounted. The one in my room was mounted on a low stand and unless I sat on the end of the bed (almost on top of it) I couldn't see the bottom part of the screen when sat up at the head end of the bed.

It is probably a hidden gem nearby Reading. Bit further away from main town - but 20mins walk to tvp thru the woods by the side of Thames. Wonderful location...!! Rooms are nice for the price and breakfast is good... Good for business stay if you are in TVP, and excellent for weekend get away trip.. Seems like a good place for corporate gettogether - lunch/dinner as well.......!! Compared to my other hotel stay in Reading, this is probably the best in this proce category..!

The room was spacious with all the expected facilities - and the fruit was a nice touch. The reception and restaurant staff were extremely courteous and helpful. Car parking was very convenient. We found the tiny pillows rather uncomfortable

There was a choice of cooked breakfasts, each freshly prepared to order - my smoked salmon and poached eggs on toasted muffin was delicious. The free Wi-Fi in the bedroom worked well on my laptop and smartphone. The furnishings in my bedroom were uninspiring and the bed was a bit hard.

Its location was excellent. Right near a canal with a lovely riverside walk nearby. I booked it as I had passed this hotel several times in the last year and I liked the look of it. I thought the accomodation would be 'old world', 'old English' type. However, it just missed it on this point. Nothing wrong with the accomodation but not 'old world'. I chose it because of how it looked in passing but it wasn't the same in reality.

Walking along the Thames The room allocated to us initial (room 1) we could not switch the heating off also radiator covers dismantle This would have been unbearable to sleep in, as the weekend we stayed the weather was gloriously hot. The grounds are good however I feel all the hotel needs a refurbishment.
