There was a choice of cooked breakfasts, each freshly prepared to order - my smoked salmon and poached eggs on toasted muffin was delicious. The free Wi-Fi in the bedroom worked well on my laptop and smartphone. The furnishings in my bedroom were uninspiring and the bed was a bit hard.

All staff were very helpful. Nothing being too much trouble. The food was excellent. The home-made croissants and pastries were a delightful surprise and very good quality. A most enjoyable stay.

Stayed over night, attending Xmas dinner night, on Friday, good menu choice. Room excellent, Good hot breakfast, smoked haddock great but I'm not sure everyone would like vinegary flavour of poached eggs!

It is probably a hidden gem nearby Reading. Bit further away from main town - but 20mins walk to tvp thru the woods by the side of Thames. Wonderful location...!! Rooms are nice for the price and breakfast is good... Good for business stay if you are in TVP, and excellent for weekend get away trip.. Seems like a good place for corporate gettogether - lunch/dinner as well.......!! Compared to my other hotel stay in Reading, this is probably the best in this proce category..!

The room was spacious with all the expected facilities - and the fruit was a nice touch. The reception and restaurant staff were extremely courteous and helpful. Car parking was very convenient. We found the tiny pillows rather uncomfortable

Very comfortable and spacious room, very helpful about letting us have an early check-in as we were going to a wedding in Shiplake. A lot of noise from banging doors from about 8.30 in the morning (maybe our room was above the kitchen)?

I love the tranquillity that the Great House at Sonning has to offer in an area which is a very busy business orientated region.

River/village location very attractive. The outside terrece very plesent. A visit to the lovely Bull pub and a walk along the river and around soning was very enjoyable. We felt the interior decor was dated (cira 1980s) and a bit shabby/tired in places. This applied to both the room and the general areas. Panel in bar toilet had fallen off and looked like it had been there for a while. Room was not realy clean. Windows were very dirty. Breakfast was poor. Orange juice was unusualy bad and could have been watered down, possible just a cheap variety. Toast was made with the cheapest bread possible. Musile of a cheap variety. The impression was that there was a lack of ownership of the overall customer experience, which could have been accepted if relected in the price. This was more like a £70-£80 a night experience rather than the £150ish a night. Shame, because the location in the village next to the river was lovely

Its location was excellent. Right near a canal with a lovely riverside walk nearby. I booked it as I had passed this hotel several times in the last year and I liked the look of it. I thought the accomodation would be 'old world', 'old English' type. However, it just missed it on this point. Nothing wrong with the accomodation but not 'old world'. I chose it because of how it looked in passing but it wasn't the same in reality.

Walking along the Thames The room allocated to us initial (room 1) we could not switch the heating off also radiator covers dismantle This would have been unbearable to sleep in, as the weekend we stayed the weather was gloriously hot. The grounds are good however I feel all the hotel needs a refurbishment.

“The staff were so helpful. Whilst they missed the comment that I was travelling with my 2 daughters and needed an extra bed in the room on my booking, when we arrived the staff did everything to accommodate us. We ended up staying in a suite with a room for my daughters and a room for me, overlooking the lake - very comfortable and the views in the morning were stunning. Thanks for a lovely stay. ” Ian, Plymouth |

“I had stayed at the Quality Inn before for a similar break. I had no hesitation in re-booking for a Sat - Sun stay and I was not disappointed. I used the hotel as a base for a trip to watch London Irish and then did shopping on Sunday with a local friend. I was given an upgrade to a double room on arrival which was a pleasant surprise and the hotel suited my needs perfectly. Courteous, helpful staff, a comfortable room with a good shower and a hearty breakfast. I would recommend the hotel without hesitation. DA” David, Peterborough |
