Lovely views of the river.
breakfast is brilliant
Room and quality of food
Service not the best and bar was very poor
Location to Henley was good we went to rewind festival. Check in was prompt receptionist very welcoming booked us a taxi to Henley
We were in old building the room spacious but it was so cold could have done with heating on it was a particularly cold night for august. Taxi dropped us off at station knowing we were going to festival snd we had to walk miles along river he didn't tell us this.
The setting was beautiful. The accommodation was excellent, and the food was superb.
We can't think of anything we did not like. I did feel an extra blanket or Duvet on the bed would have been warmer.
Constant sound of running water all night. Came from pipes running to radiators. This was all over hotel. No atmosphere, no background music in any area. Breakfast area was dreadful. Had to eat listening to the waiter walking up and down on laminate flooring and sound of old noisy central heating pipework.
Great location, efficient and friendly reception staff, good link to local taxis, easy breakfast.
Restaurant seemed rather chaotic, the menu was unusual, although the food was ok.
Great combination of old style and modern comfort. Beuatiful setting and within easy reach of Reading (8-10 GBP cab ride from the center)
All good with very helpful staff, all round a very enjoyable stay
The location is pleasant. The rooms are a good size. The food was decent. Its a nice area to go for a walk along the river. Ample parking. Free Wifi.
The service seemed a little stretched at times. There was no phone signal at all throughout most of the hotel. The rates seem just a touch too high for what you're getting.
The receptionist Location Car park spaces
Room is very tired as is hotel Mould in bathroom Bathroom above hotel kitchen, constant smell of food Heating on in hot weather no fan Windows starting to rot Window lock missing No toilet roll in room
The service was extremely good, fast, friendly and efficient.
The wedding guests who slammed their room doors till 3am and woke me up.
Reception Staff were great. Location was good.
With no air conditioning in the bedrooms it was very hot the night we stopped. Also, for the price we paid I would have expected a fridge in the room to keep the bottled water cool.
The room was clean and very comfortable. The food was excellent and catering for a gluten free diet was no problem. In a very pretty village. We enjoyed taking photos of the area, particularly Sonning Lockes
The picturesque quintessentially English-ness of the establishment . The staff were more than helpful and were there to make sure our stay was enjoyable. The room was an absolute delight. A lovely birthday surprise!
Rather chaotic in the morning for breakfast. The buffet style could be laid out in a more flowing way with less pinch points for people moving with food and hot drinks.
The location, helpful staff, informality, good food
slightly tired décor -- but I didn't really mind that because it meant it felt informal and not too sterile or corporate.
location, staff very friendly
cleanliness in the room (4) spiders and webs in the room décor very dated and needs bringing in to the current era
Food-staff-resolved issues quickly
Terrible room which I first occupied. Health ans safety would never allow it to be used for !!
Room was very brown and tired. Who wants a 4poster bed? Worn laminate flooring to public areas. Stonework type patterned wallpaper very dated Major work needed to windows etc. Great shame as we had passed many times by boat and were looking forward to staying while walking the Thames Path
We loved Sonning and we loved the Great House and can't wait to go back again :). The scenery and the whole setting were wonderful. The staff (Dawn) were lovely.
Quality of Bar and Breakfast & Grounds
The Staff The Location
The noisy room despite having some sort of glazing. room had not been aired so a bit stuffy and smelly to start off with. Bath taps did not work
A beautiful location by the river. We woke to the sound of birds and enjoyed breakfast overlooking the terrace and lawn next to the river. Our atmospheric room was the saddle room in the old coach house, which was actually a number of small rooms, and would be especially appreciated by lovers of history.
The road by the hotel was particularly busy as it narrows to one lane over the bridge close by. The room is due for some refurbishment.
