Good value for money, friendly helpful staff, clean and tidy. Not modern, but then that is what makes the place good!! If you want a modern box hotel with no character go to the travel lodge!! We would stay again!! There only showed a twin room available when booked, on check in they changed it to a double for us with no problems and no extra charge, very happy!

The green dragon was by far the worst hotel I have ever stayed in the staff were rude especially in the restaurant the rooms were dirty the breakfast was ok but not great. This was a big disappointment to me as I have stayed in this hotel many times and really loved it I didnt realise it had a new owner I will never stay there again and I would like all of my money back it was a disgrace and totally ruined our weekend everything was terrible

I liked the traditional look of the place and the central location. I liked the atmosphere and the friendly informality. The daytime desk clerk was very professional, helpful and friendly. The bedroom was wonderfully quiet (I think it faced the side). Nothing was bad. The food from the buffet/dining room didn't smell great during the day, although breakfast was okay. I definitely wouldn't eat there in the evening. I don't like buffets anyway.

Good location, right in town centre. Rather expensive for the general level of service and state of repair - the interior has seen better days and service was only so-so and impersonal. Buffet style breakfast was more reminiscent of motorway services than a flagship central hotel. Not enough parking for its size and number of guests; we had to use a disabled space and were told "it's OK, there won't be any traffic wardens about on Sunday".

Not much - the restaurant was buffet style and poor. Mushroom soup that did not taste of mushroom. Staff who did not know what a Cabernet Sauvignon was - staff at breakfast very unhelpful. The hotel has a drab appearance would not recommend it to anyone other than it's location!

The history captured in the panelled walls and decor create a wonderful atmosphere. Likewise does the preserved character of the hotel. The lounge is wonderful. The wall pictures were fascinating. The 'time capsule' aspect of the hotel should not be destroyed. A male receptionist reacted to our arrival like Basil Fawlty, although he became more helpful as time went on. The female reception staff were very, very helpful. The car park was a blessing. The situation at the centre of town is very appealing. The breakfast was plentiful, with a good choice of menu. Our room had a tiny attached tv lounge. The lounge ceiling light was not working so we could not sit in and enjoy the room after dark! Instead of being able to read sitting on the couch we had to go to bed! Despite reporting it this was not fixed during our 3 night stay. The table lamp bulb failed next! Our bedroom light also failed - this was fixed. A dining room lady attendant was rather abrupt. The table staff were very helpful.

The lounge facilities were very good; the junior staff were particularly pleasnt and helpful ... however, some way to go on the rooms yet.- lighting, TV, general fittings nad floorboards (noisy) will be a major refurbishment exercise. The restaurant was cheap and cheerful, but would not cater to many guests' expectations.

Good location for visting the city, adjacent to the Cathedral. Attractive lounge The room was small, cold and not well cleaned; inadequate bed covers for temperative of room; decor extremely dated; shower and bath hot water did not supply adequate pressure to wash; green liquid dripped out of shower controls. On complaint hotel staff offered 25% discount on first night's stay, apparently we should have complained earlier?!

The Green Dragon retains a period charm - the dining room is particularly splendid - and is well situated in the heart of Hereford within the sound of the cathedral bells. The staff were courteous and friendly and had obviously developed a good rapport with other guests who were staying longer than us ( we were there for one night only). I was relieved that the bedroom was not overheated, and the addition of an efficient portable heater allowed individual choice on the matter. The ( new) television was good - not too big and dominant thank goodness! We enjoyed the breakfast ( scoff-as-much-as-you-can-style) and our visit to the bar. I have said that the bedroom was not overheated :) but on a freezing night in January it was actually rather underheated ! The bed had only one blanket although another lurked in the cupboard. A duvet might have been nicer. A few small touches would help the overall impression enormously - I suggest getting out two sets of towels if two people are known to be occupying the room ( the other set was with the blanket in the cupboard) and perhaps leaving a small light on in welcome. A flower in a vase would be nice, inexpensive, and give an impression of care and attention to detail - and keeping the tea, coffee, and sugar sachets in a separate bowl or pot is essential - ours were in the mugs which meant you had to empty them somewhere when you wanted to make a drink. The curtains - though very clean - looked a little tatty because they had never been hemmed and the selvedge was showing - a few minutes with a sewing machine could sort that out ! At breakfast I would have enjoyed an offering of herbal tea bags as well as the ordinary sort ( sorry that sounds a bit precious, but I'm not the only person in the world that likes herbal!). There was nothing I disliked about the Green Dragon which is a nice hotel on a good site - but it could make itself better and more instantly attractive at remarkably little extra cost !

I liked the atmosphere of the building. It has conveniences but has retained its character. The price was incredible. Staff were very helpful . food was good -although we only has breakfast as a complete meal. Since we stayed there some years ago it has been tastefully decorated. It is near to all of the amenities we wished to visit. Taxis nearby. Main problem if you arrive by train there is no bus that takes you near the hotel -a problem if you do not have money for a taxi. I fully recommend the hotel.

Perfect location, city centre, close to cathedral, museum and shops. Lovely staff, very friendly and helpful. I have a small disability so the lift was very helpful. We only stayed for one night but plan to stay at The Green Dragon whenever we are in Hereford in the future. The only thing I we didnt like was the matress on the bed was too soft for us. However we do not consider this to be the hotel's fault as, due to my disability we are accustomed to sleeping on a very firm matress. We have the same problem wherever we stay. I have read some negative reviews about the decor and the food at the Green Dragon, and OK, the decor is a little tired and dated, but it is clean and warm and at only £60 for a double room it is excellent value for money. Same with the food, at under £10 per person for an all you can eat buffet it is unrealistic to expect Michelin star standard. We enjoyed our stay and are looking forward to staying at the Green Dragon again.

It was reasonably comfortable, breakfast was served to a reasonable hour, the staff were helpful The bedding and matttress had seen better days. I would have thought all hotels of this stature would have douvets, not tatty blankets, of which an extra one had to be requested. I don't think the bedroom was vacced during our four-night break.

Great position opposite the Cathedral. Very friendly and helpful staff. Tired beyond words. This used to be the best hotel in Hereford. It looks and feels as if it has had no investment in the past 20 years.

Friendly and helpful staff. Ideal location in the centre of the city. Would recommend hotel for convenience to city centre. Decor antiquated and in need of refurb although not neccessarily to a modern style . Bathroom facilities dated and brown water through bath tap. Room location between stairs and lift meant many disturbances. Would recommend that anyone staying checks room first. On the 2 occasions i've stayed I have been located in the same area and found that a good nights sleep is impossible.(rooms 241 and 240).

Old-fashioned, well-proportioned hotel right in the centre of Oxford. Good level of service in our experience, and excellent value for money. Won't appeal to people looking for a trendy place to stay, and there is no attractive outside space to sit, so smokers get pushed into a strange external gap between the different buildings.

The hotel is very convenient for town centre, it is the only one that is central, however it currently has no competition as other hotels are outwith the town centre. Having had my wedding reception there 40 years ago I find very little has changed apart from some modernisation to the dining room but it still has the air of an old coaching inn which is what is was originally a long time ago. Rooms very spacious and comfortable. Lift facility was quite small, not sure that a wheelchair would actually fit in with anyone else as well. Not sure what is advertised for disabled people.
