Couldn't turn off the heating in my room, old bathroom, breakfast wasn't good. very small bar. Just old and desperately needs to be updated. I stayed here some years ago and it was a good old fashioned hotel with lots of character but now it's just old and a bit decrepit.
Staff were very good but working in difficult circumstances.
Broad Street is a very noisy location, and there was a lot of noise from adjacent rooms (doors, floors, bathroom extractor systems). Décor was shabby, and the carpets were threadbare in many places. Wall above bed was covered in a thick layer of dust. If anyone shut a car door in the street outside, all the windows rattled.
The staff were all very friendly.
Room shabby with mature carpet and furniture, but it was cheap.
Staff very friendly and help full
Friendly helpful staff & good value. Very good choice of food. Helpful to have room until noon.
Location was perfect everything of interest was within walking distance
Bed lumpy but things were put right
Great parking, great staff,
cleanliness English cooked breakfast was cold nobody seemed to care
Large spacious room and Bathroom .Lrge and comfortable lounge with service
The curtains and pelmet were tatty and falling apart. The bed had a broken castor/wheel. Generally the room was tired and dated, but at £50 per night (without breakfast) in such a great location, it's hard to complain too much.
The location and price were both great. Free parking was also incredibly useful and very welcome.
all of the above
Rooms do not match up to the grand exterior. Bed needed a new mattress and other facilities very old fashioned. Breakfast very shambolic, they forgot our eggs and we waited an eternity for them. Also had to ask for a cup, and coffee was instant out of a sachet. Very poor for a hotel.
Beautiful building in central town location
The staff were amazing, we have a 5 month old daughter and the team went out of their way to help us. They sterilised our bottle ensured all was set in our room. We were attending a wedding and they served us in the lobby as we were feeding our daughter out the way of others as she makes a mess. Thankyou so much
It really needs to be revamped as it's looking a little tired.
The staff were great, friendly, helpful etc. A great size hotel.
Terrible bed; lots of tatty elements of the hotel; no hotel guide; worn sofa;
Large room and very warm; nice lounge
Good Location. Lovely old hotel. Large rooms - very comfortable. Friendly Staff. Lovely Breakfast & served until 10 am. Check out up to 12 o'clock gave us time to have a good look at shops without having to carry luggage around.
Noise from the street
Location, bed, breakfast
Very limited car parking
Very disappointed. Have not been in the green dragon for around ten years. Not a lot has changed. Needs a total refurb. Carpets threadbare, mattress soiled, facilities outdated. Complimentary coffee limited. Lot of electric items not been tested for two years!! A pin was sticking out of the rugs, covering threadbare carpet. Window ledge needed painting. Windows single glazed.Surprised they get any returning customers. Would not recommend. So out of date-shabby to the enth degree.
Near the centre of the city
The rooms need a make over tatty carpets in the bedroom, shower kept falling down .
The breakfast was very good
The bed was too soft so we didn't sleep too well, and when we turned on the tap to run a bath the pipes were so old they coughed and spluttered and the water was brown. Just very old, the decor was beyond tired....in was exhausted.
The hotel was very old and in need of refurbishment, however, it was quite charming, it had a large old fashioned lounge area with old comfy sofas and chairs. There was a car park at the rear which was free, plenty of bars and restaurants nearby and was right in the middle of town.
Car park not big enough. Too much noise at night, though most did not come from the hotel itself.
Friendly staff. Ideal location. Very good buffet on Friday evening.
It was worn out ! Holes in chairs and dirty throughout ! Dirty bathrooms !
The breakfast was its only reframing point
Lack of car parking over the weekend (there is, but you need to be super early to get a space)
Couldn't be better located for what we wanted to do: look round the cathedral and old city. Large spacious room, with lovely Georgian windows and reading space. If you want bland, plastic rooms which could be anywhere in the world, this might not be for you, but if you'd rather a large elegant space (while still en suite, tea maker etc), than a brand new sofa cover and bland art - green dragon is for yo. My mother and I loved it here.
location and breakfast
I booked the day before & I was very pleased with the Hotel The room was very comfortable, I had the 3 course evening meal,& breakfast both were very nice.
