Central location, courteous staff, parking on site, vegetarian breakfast The car park is quite difficult of access and small but as it is twon cetnre I suppose nothing much can be done about that. It is also difficult to locate.

The Hind, where I have stayed previously is conveniently located for the sporting event in which I was engaged. It has a historic character and usually the staff are pleasant and efficient. It usually has a bar and a lounge, both of which are comfortable for reading or t/v viewing. As I suffer from a heart condition, angina, emphysema and copd, I requested two months in advance a ground floor courtyard room. On arrival I was told this was not available (it transpired that it was available but had not been serviced). The staff were unsympathetic and gave us a room in a remote corner of the hotel. To avoid embarrassment I shall merely stay that urgent attention is required from both Housekeeping and Maintenance Departments, to the extreme extent that the beds were unusable. A complaint to the aggressively defensive Duty Manager was met with the comment 'There's been an error - end of!' - a totally unacceptable response. Although we had not been warned, there was no bar or room service and no food available at all. This is the first time I have been subject to such a reception at The Hind and I should need a quality assurance from them before I should choose to book again.

Do not stay here in the winter, I asked staff to put heating on in rooms as our staff where working late and outdoors when we returned to hotel it was freezing cold my staff would have left had it not been so late.it is either cost or the heating does not work I know the hotel is old and quaint but this is no excuse I mentioned on checking out but got no responce from staff you have been warned.

The newly renovated room made for a good small wedding reception. Some wonderful old rooms are hidden away. The hotel is being re-furbed and it needs it!

This hotel was in the middle of being decorated which it badly needed. It was the focal point for about 6 fights at least 2 of which the police were called for. Then at 6 am an industrial cleaner started work.

Breakfast was reasonable but no cereal. Centrally located. Secure parking was the main objective for booking but apparently this was full........with staff cars! Customer comes 1st? Wallpaper peeling off walls, decor poor in public areas.

A good clean hotel in the centre of the town close to all facilities. Excellent breakfast served from 07-00am. The Hotel is advertised with internet although the router that is provided for the room does not have the required codes etc to allow connection. The staff were not able to help therefore connection was not possible. More information is required with the plug in router provided.

It was a nice atmosphere. The beds and pillows where very comfortable. The room was clean. Good selection of tv-channels. The breakfast was great, we got to order like a la carte what we wanted, for the warm food for breakfast. We could here when they (a man and a lady talking alot) started making breakfast 6 in the morning. Not soundproof. The fan in the bathroom didn´t work, so it got very steamy.

The staff were most courteous and helpful. Most of the interior is in need of an overhaul. The bathroom in particular was not up to standard. Thew shower rail was rusted, I was unable to turn the shower tap to a decent warm level under 30 and the mould in the tiles could easily be treated. I was assured that dinner was served between 6 and 8 but on arrival at the dining room at 7 the place was in darkness, and I had a ten minute wait whilst a place was set for me. Dinner was no better than a bar meal. My breakfast order was delivered incorrectly on both mornings. Staff are in short supply often doubling up in the dining room instead of being at the desk.

Had a nice room overlooking the courtyard, room was spacious breakfast was decent, staff helpful. For the price I paid (c£49 per night) it was good value for money for a one night stay The bathroom needed some work to remove the mould, I could see that if you had a room that overlooked the street it might be a little noisy.
