Zone: 5-5 min bus to Elephant&Castle Clean : Perfectly clean (Dutch waitress very friendly) Cost: Very good prices i hope the price range doesn't go up much. Friendly area, very quiet at night Hope to use this Hotel in Future for sure
Tv didn't have remote
The hotel was clean, but the bedrooms could have done with a bit of renovation or modernising. The shared bathrooms were well looked after and had the best shower I have ever used at a hotel.
The sink in my bedroom was broken. Before I had a chance to mention it at reception they had put a bottle of beer in my room to apologise, I thought this was a desperate gesture to not refund any of my stay for the inconvenience. The locks on the individual room doors are not very secure, but I did not come across any problems in that respect myself. Overall, hostel conditions at hotel prices.
Not having an en suite room, the shared facilities were excellent. They looked as though they had been recently installed. Kitchen fantastic. The location was ideal for my needs and, being on a frequent bus route, it meant I could get around quickly.
Difficulty I had controlling the heating. There was no heating on in the room when I went in late afternoon. However, during the night it was too hot as I'd inadvertently turned the radiator to maximum. Because the control was behind a bed head, I couldn't see what I was doing.
The shower. Bus route just outside on main street. Clean.
Being on 3rd floor. Room very small and the cloth style wardrobe was useless, a single bar across and some shelves built in under would be much better. The neighbour in next room smoked in their toilet/shower room which came straight through the vent/fan into our wc/bedroom. Not pleasant.
Very kind and hospitable people. Original concept by having a shared kitchen for breakfast or even cooking your self. Worth it!
Clean and good bathrooms. Room was spacious.
The staff are nice and helpful. Rooms are clean.
Rooms are too small, also the beds are much smaller than single beds.
Location is horrible had are car set on fire for no reason
Nice and secure self contained room. Comfortable bed.
Light on bathroom mirror was not working. No plug in basin. Tea coffee biscuits and milk were not refilled.
Shower tray backed up every day. Plumbing incredibly loud. Impossible to get a nights sleep. Over priced for standard of hotel. Awful bar. Unaccomadating staff. Public parking only. Pictures supplied very misleading. Located in an unpleasant area. Smells of bisto gravy.
The room was clean and the location was good making it easy for us to see the sights and get back in the evening - once we got the bus and tube routes figured out! The girl that checked us in was very friendly and helpful. The kitchen was clean and well outfitted.
We were on the ground floor on the Thurlow street side and road noise from the traffic on the street was noticeable in the early hours. The clothes dryer was not working while we were there. Not a huge problem and we understand mechanical things do break!
The hotel is close to a busstop, witch takes you in 10 minutes to the underground station of Elephant & Castle. The rooms are clean and provided with clean sheets every two, or three days. After a day of walking, you can sit down by the pub downstairs for a pint or bite.
Our room had a 'camping closet' for our clothes, for the price we paid for the room, we expected at least a normal closet. The surrounding area is rather noisy with cars and trucks passing by.
We only stayed for a weekend but were very happy with both the facilities and the location. We had been a bit worried about noise from the pub downstaris however this was not an issue. There were good cooking facilites as well as a washing machine. The bus stop outside was very convenient for getting into town (and there is a great app for london public transport!).
The walls were a bit thin so you could hear other guests moving around (not partying or anything, just normal noise).
Warm welcome. Well organised. Fridge in room. Kitchen on same floor all clean and new equipment including a washing machine. Clean and safe. Surprisingly quiet for London.
No hair dryer. Wardrobe had not been cleaned for a while.
The kitchen was nice though I didn't use it. The best part was the free laundry machines in the kitchen.
There was no restaurant nearby. The pub only served pizza and it was the worst pizza I've had. Undercooked and no sauce. Nowhere to go for breakfast. The first morning I had to walk to the Elephant and Castle Station as I wasn't aware the buses don't take cash.
Very friendly staff - very clean - good area... the real London...
I absolutely loved staying at this hotel! The position is really convenient, the bus stops right in front of the hotel and it's a short travelling distance from everything you want to see while visiting London. The room and the bathroom are really clean and functional. The best thing is the staff: they're all lovely, welcoming and ready to help you if you need, like i did. I had the best time at the hourglass hotel, I 100% recommend it and i will surely book there again if i'll ever need a hotel in london in the future :)
really nice staff, fully equipped kitchen (with some basic ingredients available), efficient washing machine and drier. VERY close to bus stops. We had a mini refrigerator in the room too, which was very useful. Everything was really clean.
Very good standard of cleanliness. Looked like it was newly decorated new carpets etc. Also drinks in pub below very cheap every day!
Clean and tidy, well equipped hotel. Very friendly and helpful staff. Have used this hotel several times through the summer for business and the excellent standard has been consistent each time. Will be staying here again in the future.
What I liked the most was the staff. The two gentlemen at the front were really friendly and helpful. One of them showed me around and explained all the rules of the hotel. I also liked how clean they kept the bathrooms during our stay. We got shared bathrooms and they remained spotless the whole weekend.
Shower in the room
Beds, brakfust was only 3 pieces and everyvthe same, no hame ore egs
Good location and facililties
Cold shower! On top floor so couldn't get hot water and no time to wait for the shared bathroom.
The staff was friendly
The price was too high compared to the city's area
The hotel was very clean and had a lovely kitchen. The shower room was also clean and moden. Great budget acomadation would return
The area its in let's it down but don't judge it till you stay
