All the staff were so professional, warm and friendly, nothing was too much trouble and they were always prepared to do that extra bit to make us feel special.

    The bar was too popular!!!

Food was very nice especially the breakfast, excellent. Staff very friendly and helpful.

The location is fantastic, a stones throw away from all the shops, attractions, bars and restaurants. The staff are very helpful and friendly and couldn't do enough for us. The hotel's restaurant serves fantastic food and a great selection of wines, beers and shorts. The rooms are spacious and warm and the beds are really comfortable. Would recommend this hotel to anyone!

the 'table' ironing board was useless and broken, the room wasn't cleaned to a great standard by the house keeping each day!

Excellent location in the heart of the city.Perfectly placed for the Festival, Tattoo, shopping, pubs & restaurant . Comfortable clean room/bathroom. Good value for central Edinburgh considering we stayed at peak season when almost all hotels are full. Would stay here again.

Lift was a bit hit & miss so had to take the stairs a couple of times. Not ideal if you have mobility problems, but not an issue, for us.

Hotel is in a good location, convenient to bars and shops. Plenty of tea and coffee, chocolate tea cake is not the best option in a warm room.

noise from the bar that went on until after 12 and general noise outside. If staying again I would ask for a room off the street

Brilliant and friendly staff who bent over backwards to accommodate. The location is fantastic and the bar very buzzy.

The room was very dark and rather warm and stuffy. I had to stand on the desk to open and close the curtains which was rather a blow! As it was during festival week, the cost of the room was extremely high.

    Great Location, Central for everything.

Had to wait for 5 mins for someone to come to reception to check us in. Room not very clean! Poor service at breakfast, only wanted cereal and toast and this seemed quite a challenge for the waitress. Expensive.

Super expensive due to the "Fringe" Festival Season. I would like to try it off-season and stay longer in Edinburgh

Character of room, facilities in room, comfort and cleanliness and staff were very helpful. Access to the hotel was secure but not as obvious as most hotels.

Breakfast was very good, however at price of room I ould have expected it to be inclusive, however I am just probably not aware of current Edinburgh prices.

Good location, pleasant rooms and friendly and helpful staff.

Lack of air conditioning in rooms, and noise from hotel bar a particular problem. Hotel needs to ensure the doors to the bar aren't left wide open at night, as this allow noise to escape. AC in rooms would reduce the need to leave windows open which makes outside noise more audible in rooms during the night.

Location was outstanding with both Waverley and Haymarket stations within 15 minutes walking distance and thanks to being so central despite arriving late in the evening we had no trouble sourcing a bite to eat! Room was clean, tidy and comfortable and the complimentary Tunnocks teacakes were a nice touch! The themes of all the rooms was an interesting talking point too. We had Gordon Ramsey, the portrait didn't swear at us fortunately!

Not really a negative more so advanced warning. The receptionist told us the building used to be the old post office so theres a lot of floors with a lot of stairs. There are lifts but the lift on the ground floor doesn't go to all the floors in the building either so it can be a bit of a maze. Not a problem in our eyes though, helped burn a few extra calories from the teacakes hopping up the stairs!!

    Great location and room.

Don't get the room facing the front street since they starting to unload trucks for the ground floor bar every morning at 4am, which is very, very loud.
