Great location for shoping and pubs.
Hotel had been well used room prices a bit expensive for what you get but probably because of location. Some nice little touches though.
Good location, quirky and friendly
Didn't get wifi details when checking in.
Great style, loved the room and hotel bars and restaurant. The staff were really friendly and the location is just off Princes Street.
Unfortunately the shower had hardly any pressure and all the lights in the bathroom and bedroom were quite dim due to energy saving light bulbs. The bed had a goose feather duvet cover as well as on top of the mattress. Soft and cosy but a bit too hot to sleep sometimes.
lovely shower, bar, breakfast
bins were emptied at 5 in the morning, noisy plumbing, breakfast wasnt expensive, but should be included in room rate. locked out of hotel after midnight and reception never informed us that you had to ring the bell
Great last minute deal, so an excellent price for two people for the night. Fantastic location right next to great restaurants and bars. Only 100 metres from Princes Street too. Room was on smallish side but it is a city centre hotel. Well decorated, quiet and comfortable. Good breakfast range available.
Amazing Hotel, most comfortable bed i've ever slept in, very helpful staff!
Bathroom was a bit grotty around the taps and shower screen corners. Could do with a good scrub to get rid of the black gunk. Also, room very close to reception so noisy and didn't feel like you had any privacy.
The atmosphere of the entire hotel is very seductive, and not just because I had a huge photo of Gerard Butler on my wall. Loved the rich colors of the decor, chandelier lighting, and warmly-lit restaurant. The food was fantastic, and a great value for the quality. Best breakfast I've had in any hotel. And the whiskey selection is of course healthy! The double-paned windows kept out all the street noise. Jamie, the reception manager, is awesome and went above & beyond to make my birthday stay memorable. I can't wait to stay there again!
The only things I can think of to make this hotel 100% perfect instead of 99%, is that the shower was a little confusing to operate (turning off), and I could not make the soap pumps work. Plus, the robes were a little rough. But these are small issues out of an extremely enjoyable hotel!
That the rooms were dedicated to famous Scottish people. The complimentary water and Tunnocks teacakes.
Small ,badly designed, dark room. Extremely small bed which wasn't even a double bed I don't think! The fact that you can only access the hitel by walking through the bar or the dining area. Overpriced considering size of bed and room.
Beds; staff; atmosphere; breakfast
Shower poorly designed. High bath with sloping front was difficult to get into and out of for anybody with any sort of reduced mobility. Apparently, some rooms have lower-sided baths
The location was great
The restaurant was so loud, as it was also a busy bar so couldn't hear myself have a conversation with very loud music
never felt more welcome in any hotel
We LOVED the king size bed in the room. We received a free upgrade to a deluxe room as it was my husbands birthday! Bar staff were very friendly and really knew their whiskies. Food was tempting and delicious. Will defininately go back.
The idea behind the decor is great. The food was great too.
The rooms seemed a little tired and the hotel has only been open for a year and a half. The attention to detail was inconsistent. Not what I expected for the money.
Food and bar very good, cocktails delicious, late breakfast good
Room very hot, and very noisy we weren't able to sleep, good hear tv in room above, the lift, and the room wasn't sound proof at all, no double glazing so you could hear all the traffic early in the morning
Easy to book, great communications and very helpful staff. I would recommend highly.
Pillow Bathroom tired Very noisy
the public areas of the hotel were excellent i.e. the restaurant & bar
our room was on the tight side and it was also a bit on the warm side.
Stylish and different. Great city centre location, near the castle. Comfy bed. Bar staff helpful. Did not eat in restaurant but looked popular.
Reception through the bistro and up the lift. Parking 10min walk from hotel if you want NCP secure parking. Wifi not behaving. No-one asked about my stay.
Hotel was awesome, staff also. Restaurant was fantastic, highly recommend
Enjoyed staff efficiency and friendliness.Very good breakfast.
Very disappointed in our room which I found quite small and dull decor. We were upgraded to a luxury room and quite frankly if this was true your normal rooms must be very poor indeed.
Bar and interior of hotel lovely, staff helpful and friendly.
Hotel room backs on to the bins, so every morning at 6 am woken by bin men. At the price we paid would have expected more.
Friendly, welcoming staff; large bright and airy room; comfortable bed, super bar; fantastic location, just off Princes Street and a five minute walk to Usher Hall
There were short comings regarding cleanliness - the large fan provided in the room had not been cleaned and was covered with dust and hair. The extractor fan in the bathroom did not work adequately, due to the dust and dirt that had built up on it. There was an area of pink bloom by the taps on the bath. Finally, the central light fitting sported two dead bulbs! These are all issues one would not expect to come across in an hotel of The Angels Share's standing.
The location was good. The shower was great but tiny! Staff were friendly and even put our bags in our room for us when we arrived too early and wanted to get rid of our things before exploring Edinburgh.
The noise of the traffic was unbearable, sounded like single glassed window panes. The floor wasn't swept... and hadn't been for more than just a few days from the look of it.
Great location, for having a pub downstairs it was pretty quiet as well.
Shower pressure could have been a bit more.
