I have stayed at the Hydro about 4/5 times now. I find the staff very friendly, the rooms are comfortable and the prices reasonable. I will definately be staying there again. As above plus good location.

Very good value for money, friendly and helpful staff and overall a relaxing place to stay. Needs money spent on it but hey it's a family business looking to provide a service and make a living...no bonuses, waiting for hedge funds or buy out's so was a good place to 'chill out'. Intend to try again in the Summer of 2012.

the manager was very helpful in directing us to local restaurants etc as his menu didnt work for all of us the only problem was that we could only get a continental type breakfast as we were leaving the hotel at 7 45 am to catch the early morning ferry. the hotel normally starts cooked breakfasts at 8 00am

I think that its a fab building and the staff were good, the breakfast was fantastic. The thing I did notlike about the hotel was that it was nice and warm when you walked in but once you started to go up the stairs it was very cold. We had a meal in the evening and the room that we was in was also cold. I asked the guy on duty if he could do something with the heating and he said it was set I said yes but its not on, he said he could do nothing about it I ate and went straight upstairs and had to get into bed at 8.45 at night in bed so I could keep warm. I felt like a pensioner that could not afford to pay the bills, so you wrap up and go to bed.

Throughout our stay at They Hydro the staff were always attentive to our every need and very helpful. The hotel was well located on the prom, a little way from the central attractions of Douglas but close enough to be easily reached. The level of comfort was very good and breakfasts were also excellent. I would whole heartedly recommend this hotel to anyone I know.

Every staff member we met was endlessly helpful, friendly and obliging. We were lucky enough to have a room with a wonderful view over the bay - a twin room which was kind of split by a wall down the middle (double bed, tv, kettle on the one side, two singles and a little table and chairs on the other - both sides had a duchess with mirror and chair as well) - there were only 2 of us but it would've been great for a family or larger group of friends. Amazing pressure on the shower - loved it! Location was good, down the far end of the promenade but right by the electric railway (not open when we were there though), horse trams (again, not open in winter) and buses (great bus network on iom, multi- day passes well worth the price). There was a wee lounge area beside our room with desks and chairs, sea view and shelf full of books - I love this sort of thing in a hotel, you don't often see it outside of backpackers. The cooked breakfast was good and we had dinner in the bar one night which was delicious. Overall very very happy with our stay. Only very vague things I didn't like, barely worth mentioning as we were overall very happy with the stay. My bed was a little uncomfortable for me, but I'm quite particular that way. The room wasn't absolutely pristinely clean, but not really worse than most people's houses if we're honest - the shower head was a bit scuzzy though. Walls slightly thin, parts of the decor a touch dated, windows not double-glazed and a bit fogged up in the morning (it was cold outside!) but nothing at all to deter from the overall experience.

Newly refurbished bathroom very good. Comfortable bed. Friendly welcome. Good location. Carpets badly need replacing, and simple decorating required. East European staff serving breakfast should smile.
