The bar man was friendly The food in the restaurant was poor. Ordered pear and Stilton salad, all I got was the rind of the cheese. Asked for a steak medium rare ......... so over cooked was a joke, not once did the manager come over or offer to take it off the bill. Was recommended this hotel by the local business we where doing business, very disappointing will be advising them to recommend another hotel to their clients in furture.

Excellent situation. Obviously has been a truly beautiful building at some stage. A most spacious room with a lovely sea view.. There is an urgent need for updating, particularly the bathroom. Although the hotel informed me alterations were underway there was no evidence of this. The room given to me was right next to where the pigeons perched and they were very noisy early in the morning.

Location and rooms were good and competitively priced. Breakfast was well done and the breakfast staff efficient and helpful Service levels need serious attention.15 minutes to book in - only one member of staff on reception who seemed to struggle with the technology. A simple lunch (a soup and two wraps) in an un-busy sports bar on Friday took 45 minutes to deliver. Also on the Friday the room was not serviced until late afternoon and then only partially - we had to phone reception for clean cups and replenished in-room tea and coffee and then had to repeat the request 30 minutes later

Room was well furnished and warm, Staff were friendly and attentive. The room had teamaking facilities and all the hot food served was piping hot. One menu only wether in the Bar or Retaurant. We did not appreciate at the time of booking that there was an Easter Package running which made the weekend very family orientated resulting in a number of uncontrolled young children running around at mealtimes, Friday and Saturday evening menu's offered a limited selection from the normal offering. Wild Mushrooms on Brioche turned out to be the usual button mushrooms which certainly were never wild. They have two wine lists with some wines available by the Glass several of which were not available when asked for. Breakfasts were normal Buffet style and ok but the Sausages on Tuesday morning raised a question mark as to their content or origin not only by me but others as well. The Imperial gets its four stars from the Sports and Spa Facilities not from the quality of the food available which would struggle to make two stars.

the hotel's location was excellent. we had a sea view room and it was nice. the staff were pleasant and the breakfast was reasonably good. the hotel was way too expensive for the luxury it portrays on the website. The hotel needs some refurbishment and the furniture of the room were old and out-dated. the bathroom needs also some refurbishment with the ventilator making a ridiculously loud noise when the lights were switched on. I specifically asked for bathrobes but we didnt get them and the staff responded that they have missed this detail. the breakfast facilities need some updating with the use of special catering facilities that keep the food warm instead of just standard plates.

We loved the room, seeview was lovely, The only problem we had was the shower tray filled up with in mins, before it was going to over flow, my partner took the plug out,and the pipe was full of human hair and gunk,so you need to have it unbloked.

I have visited the hotel many times before and one of the main things my family and I like about the Hythe Imperial is the Spa facilities. The hotel is also warm and welcoming. On this occasion I was very disappointed to find the swimming pool was cold and the 'Hot Tub' jacuzzi was absolutely stone cold. I usually like to read while relaxing around the swimming pool, however I was unable to do this as the temperature around the pool was too cold. I heard other visitors complaining about the water in the swimming pool and the jacuzzi being too cold. I trust if I stay at this hotel again the temperature in both the swimming pool and hot tub will be as they should be, in order for guests to enjoy the facilities.

We chose the hotel because of the reputation of the accommodation provided by the Mercure Group. The hotel has a lovely location, with a panoramic views of the sea. Our room, on the top floor provided great views and was quiet. The sea was just across the road and we awoke to the sound of the waves on the shore. During our stay there was a christmas party in progress, and the ensuing music did travel but we did not hear it. The reception staff were very polite and helpful. We did not eat in the hotel so cannot comment on the food. We felt that the hotel could possibly do with a make-over as it is slightly tired/dated by todays standards. This being said it is still a nice hotel to stay in, and has an age and elegance which modern hotels do not. It does have a nice bar area to sit and relax in. Nothing major to complain about.

It was in a great location, right by the sea and easy to walk in to Hythe to sample the hospitality of the locals. Nice atmosphere in the hotel and the staff were excellent particularly on reception. I went to a wedding reception at the hotel which was very good and there were no problems that I have heard of with the service we got. The only thing which I wanted that they didn't have was Sky Sports in the room, although it was available to watch downstairs in the Leisure center.

Big, comfortable, clean rooms with good amenities. The hotel is right on the sea front with good views all around it and also very close to the town. Friendly, helpful staff. Eating and drinking in the hotel is expensive and some of the staff didn't speak English very well.
