The Imperial HotelStation Rd, GL5 3AP Stroud (Show map) Good, Score from 117 reviews“The standard of the room was excellent for the price. The bed was very comfortable and the room was spotless. My train journey to Stroud was more than 5 hours but the comfort and service from your hotel refreshed me and helped me to cope with a training course the following day. Thank you for an excellent service”

Good value for money, but not free WiFi in rooms, missing a few home comforts. Can be a little noisy due to proximity to station.

Breakfast food was nice and well located. Didn't eat there but Thai restaurant smelled lovely. Bar was welcoming and had decent ales as well as wine list. Rooms could be so much nicer with a couple of little touches: mattress same size as base, tv in a position you can see it, mirror on the wall, repaint chipped peeling frames etc., all of which would have been ok for a cheap hotel, this was £90/N. Breaksfast food was nice, but tea was stewed in an urn. We booked twins as all available on this and other websites, but actually got a double which suited us better but wasn't what we booked.

Nice, clean room and good location for getting further into Cotswolds. Some staff very helpful. Checking in at the public bar downstairs lacks privacy and took ages.

Hotel staff were so friendly and helpful. Room was clean and comfortable, plus the location was fabulous for getting round Stroud! My only regret is that we couldn't try award winning Thai food that the hotel resteraunt serves. As the hotel is located next to train station it can get a little noisy at night.

Good clean room with comfortable bed. Good breakfast. Situation, near railway, and too many late night drinkers in beer garden area. Exterior of hotel looks very run down and in urgent need of a coat of paint.

Location is fantastic (reason for the selection) Noise in room 206 (back of hotel) was horrendous. There is obviously a pub or club next to the hotel and the screaming and shouting meant there was absolutely no way anyone would get any sleep until they had closed. We had to watch tv until 1.00am as trying to get to sleep was futile. Reception staff (Thai I think) hardly spoke English....very difficult to understand

Very conveniently located next to the station. All recently redecorated so my room was very pleasant and comfortable. Very impressed by the standard of cleanliness. Comfortable bar and dining area - a good breakfast but I didn't have the opportunity to eat there. Would have liked a light bar snack rather than a full meal, but this wasn't offered as an option. Very minor quibble though.

The staff were excellent. I asked to be moved to a nicer room and was totally accomodated. Cotswold County life Nov magazine said that it had, had a refurb but I could not see any signs of one. My bedroom 109 in their brouchure needed a lot of t l c but it was very clean. I would stay again Breakfast was really nice. I only stayed for b & B.

I liked the friendliness of the staff, the good breakfast, the clean and comfortable room and, above all, the location next to the station. Two years ago I had stayed alrady at the The Imperial with my brother but at that time we didn´t have a comfortable room as it was very very small and it had no window or a window which could not be opened. Therefore, I actually didn´t want to book at The Imperial again. But, finally, because of its good location I booked it and I was really surprised by the bery good standard of the room this time. Maybe I was only lucky?

The atmosphere in the restaurant was good - nice and busy and high quality live music. The shower was good, and the room was clean overall (except carpets, see below) Check in was difficult as the staff (who were friendly and certainly tried their best) had English language limitations and a badly organised check in procedure. My bed was like a plank of wood with very minimal padding. The room overlooked the main street and was not double glazed. It was incredibly noisy until 4.30 in the morning, so didn't get much sleep at all. Carpets throughout the hotel part of the building were filthy and needed a deep clean or replacing.
