At St. Andrews' oldest coaching inn, enjoy open log fires, award winning food and really friendly people to look after you. This charming 400 year old coaching inn is situated just 5 miles (8 km) from the famous golfing town of St. Andrews. We pride ourselves on the warmth of our welcome and the great food and ales we serve. Enjoy all this in cosy surroundings with open log fires and lots of things to do both within the inn and surrounding area. The restaurant has an award winning chef who uses only the finest of local produce. Hotel Rooms: 21

Excellent room, food & service with very friendly staff, good location for the East Neuk. Slight confusion over menu's when not a voucher/offers guest as we were. More clarity would be useful, although the food/service was excellent

Lovely ambience of Main Hotel, excellent food, both dinner and breakfast. Rooms in need of updating, old tv, furnishings not in keeping, heated towel rail not working, unamble to get into bath as shower screen didn't open. No house wine on menu no bottle of wine for less than £20

Excellent twin room (stayed in the newish extension) Quiet hotel with superb evening meal and first class breakfast. It's location is perfect for St Andrews if you don't wish to actually stay in the city. If I need to complain it would only be the 5 restaurant windows which are located onto the main road, need washing as they detract from the clean and well presented restaurant.

The team at the hotel were excellent and sorted out any requests we had. The breakfast included with the room rate was good. The rooms were clean and the heating actually worked. Location was perfect in that you could go to St Andrews easily or enjoy the countryside if you wished. Thought the price was a little high given you can get a weekend in a 4* Marriott for a similar rate (EG: regents park Marriott in London offering a wekend rate for B&B at £149.00 and that's in London. St Andrews is a great place though so I suppose it's location as well that you're paying for, but it still seems a little high. (NB: What may be influencing my statement is that I booked the delux room but got a standard due to our daughter being in our room and the standard room had a bit more space for us to be in and the hotel discounted her breakfast rate from the bill)

Friendly atmosphere and helpful staff. The food was very good No real compl;aints- minor things. We did not get any biscuits in our room on both nights. The tv did not work despite reporting it to reception..Other than these minor issues, althugh it does enhance one's stay, we were satisfied with everything.

The room was very nice and spacious I thought the restaurant surroundings were tired, service was good but not 4 star in the restaurant (food order was wrong, had to ask for bread and no check back on our meal)

The executive room was great and the views etc. The restaurant was a bit disappointing. We were at the 9.15 sitting and the staff seemed in a hurry to leave. While we were sitting in the bar, they hoovered the restaurant whih was loud and annoying. Breakfast was a disappointment. Old toasted that doesn't work well, bacon really bad, potato scone really bad. A real pity because I love the rooms and views.

breakfast was excellent, room and the bathroom very spacious and tastefully decorated, very clean and newly refurbished The shower was slow, although there was huge jacuzzi bath - but we prefer to use shower. There are no walks in the immediate vicinity and although the country side around is lovely we did not see any paths for walks

The bed was very comfortable and breakfast was good. The location is bad, in the middle of nowhere and the hotel is very expensive. We paid 130€ with a discount of 50€ (because we bought it the day before, normal price was 180€!!) for an ugly room (with very comfortable beds, I have to say) in the middle of the countryside. The window was very dirty, we could almost not see the sheep! Considering you could book a room at the wonderful Old Course Hotel for 225€, we felt stupid in this hotel. I would certainly not recommend it.

The staff were warm, friendly and efficient throughout our stay. Seating in the bar was not very comfortable, and our dining room table was too large for easy conversation.
