Great hotel staff very good and attentive . Food good . Excellent location . Have booked to go again.
The staff and the hotel.
Situated right on Lake Ullswater, the Inn offers a wonderful lake view across its graceful garden and lawn. Lake Ullswater is still quiet and peaceful, unlike, for example, Lake Windermere. The Inn also has a mini golf course right next to it!
We stayed in a room on the first floor. There is a bar right below us, on the ground floor, which contains some tables outdoor. We were waken up in the middle of the night by the noise of several hotel guests, who were still drinking, talking loudly, singing and playing the guitar at around 2 am at the outdoor bar right below our room! Such inconsiderate behaviour was annoying.
The hotel, gardens and views of lake Ullswater are beautiful!! Love Glenridding! All staff at the hotel are lovely and friendly. Breakfast was excellent.
With two small children we were looking forward to a full nights sleep but found the bed extremely hard giving us both a sore neck and back! Also, doors were banging all night. We booked a large room and were in a very small room. There was a wedding on and therefore we could not eat in the Ramblers bar which if we had known before arrival we would have packed more formal attire however as we were wearing casual clothes we ate somewhere else in Glenridding.
Location was fantastic.
Power cut and lack of ala carte menu (with no offer of a discounted stay at check out)
Price was high
Poor ventilation Loo not working Lights failing Shower poor design Very noisy during quiet hours due to ventilation fan
Location is excellent. The beds are very comfortable.
There were 3 weddings in the 5 days we visited in September, plus a fashion show so as a regular guest we felt a bit out numbered at times.
Great view and location.
Noise from kitchens in room 52.
Everything! but in particular the evening meal in the Gazeebo
having to leave
Check -in was low key and friendly. outstanding views and fabulously attended gardens. a place where anyone would want to be on a special occasion.
we couldn't find anywhere to park initially, and my partner is lactose, wheat and gluten intolerant which we should have planned for but hoped the menu would be ok as we were only staying for 2 nights but it was difficult.
Location, decor, breakfast.
This hotel was booked for its location and facilities that we were unable to use as most of the hotel was in use for a wedding. We were there to celebrate a special occasion and felt instead that we were intruding on someone else's special day. We were not pre warned that this would be the case and spent a lot of money on a weekend ruined because of the circumstances. Staff under pressure trying to please everyone were sometimes unhelpful. Our room was very small. The bathroom was so small the door wouldn't fully open as the bath was in the way. The view was of a brick wall and a nearby flue rumbled away all night. We were given a small discount on checking out but this did not compensate for the disappointment.
Location was excellent, hotel had been refurbished since our last visit some years ago to an excellent standard but maintained a homely relaxed feeling , food was also excellent with the A la carte menu being good value for money (5 courses for £40). Would love to visit again
Meals were over priced with very small portions.
I was lucky enough to stay in the 4 poster suit. What an experience. The hotel and surroundings are beautiful. I was made to feel special by the hotel staff. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone and will certainly be back there soon. Thanks to everyone at the inn on the lake !
Ideal location The staff were excellent
The noise from the cleaners in the morning was excessive. Very expensive for b + b
Helpful staff. Great location. Excellent food.
Location and breakfast
Travelled to Scotland and stayed at excellent budget hotel in Carlisle and excellent 4 * in Ayr before fulfilling booking at Inn on the lake on journey back. Had had a previous e-mail regards meal preferences and I asked whether needed to book Ramblers bar which was ignored. When we arrived advised bar was exclusively for wedding guests after 5pm that day and persuaded by receptionist to book orangerie which was quite a pleasant area. Room 22 looks out of window into brick wall which made me somewhat unhappy but was acceptable. Going to dinner quite a lot of dogs around reception but this hotel is advised as being dog friendly in hotel literature. However , there were dogs in the restaurant about which I complained bitterly and was told , it is only because guests cannot use Ramblers because there is a wedding on . We were also advised we could not use the main bar area in the hotel because of the wedding. My total bill was £276.05 ( accommodation £188)-Be careful even though reviews are excellent.
Every part of the trip there was nothing we didn't like. The small touches too the room is what made the stay more intermite
Food View Room
Couldn't get wi-fi in room
Spent the wkend here for my daughters wedding and all I can say is I had nothing to fault. From the arrival, through to the wedding nothing could have been more perfect. Nothing was too much trouble and we all had an amazing time.
Everything. Excellent hotel, very luxurious, wonderful staff, service and facilities. Fantastic views all round beautiful area, very peaceful and relaxed
we were disappointed with our room classed as Double was very small.and was without a Wardrobe although there was cupboard which did have few coat hangers on a rail but the main use of this cupboard was to stow an Ironing Board.
The location is absolutely stunning and the trip was worth it for that alone.
The service was low quality and unhelpful. The lady in the orangery where we ordered afternoon tea was particular unwelcoming. Considering this is an expensive hotel in a great spot and we were having a reunion - some care, a smile and a welcome would have made all the difference.
I really enjoyed my stay. I have been a travel agent for the last 12yrs. Could do with a revamp here and there but overall was lovely. There for a wedding. The only downside was I requested a late check out room till 6pm when I asked the gentleman on reception he said they have never done late check out rooms. As I was part of the wedding party it was essential for me to me in the brides room at 8am for hair and make up. My partner had to check out all of our stuff with our 10mth old baby. They didn't seem very willing to help or accommodate us especially as they advertised late check out as an option on their brochure in the room. Was a little bit disappointing, however didn't ruin our stay. I would return but mainly based on the wonderful location.
Late check out room was an issue.
