Great owner who is both friendly and helpful Wonderful pub with great food Very good breakfast with 1st class ingredients Comfortable and cosy rooms
Hannington is an attractive village, the Jolly Tar is the best Arkells hostelry in which we have stayed. Good, not pretentious food well presented and served
A very nice location
The room was small. Two biscuits was insufficient.. Bathroo light was sited too high for an average hight couple. One chair for two people. Breakfast was over priced for the food provided..
room very usable breakfast excellent all areas of pub user friendly

Great staff who were very helpful. All the rooms are named after important seafarers except for the room is was in "Captain Pugwash"
Poor phone signal. But that can be nice in a quiet and relaxing place like the Jolly Tar Inn
Room was clean and comfortable. Manager very friendly. Food lovely. Laid back atmosphere.

Service wasn't as good as you'd hope - bit slow and we were left for nearly hour between the main course and desert on the first night (better second night)
Our room was excellent , it was clean, the shower worked well, the bed was very comfortable . Our host was most accommodating, absolutely no complaints .We are thinking of returning in a few weeks time.
Fantastic food Very welcoming hosts Very clean comfortable rooms Great village location Friendly country inn atmosphere Great ale and one of the best pints of Guinness ..... Although more than one consumed!!
Nice shower with very nice toiletries
Our room was very small and there was little light coming in from the small window
Quality, location, relaxing.
Having to leave when I did!
Good value, good evening meals, very clean and friendly. Lovely little village well clear of Swindon.
Check in before 6.00 pm can be a bit iffy.
The quaintness and quietness.
Down side was the pub didnt open till 6.30 every evening
Great value, comfortable inn. Fantastic food as well.
Excellent breakfast and service
We had 2 really great evening meals from the restaurant , and were really well looked after at all times, by Steve and his family, our room was comfortable and well appointed. It has been a highlight of our trip to England and we wouldn't hesitate to recommend the jolly tar to any wanting somewhere great to stay with friendly and entertaining people and a nice atmosphere Cheers Brett from newzealand .
Not being able to stay longer!
The opportunity to relax in a comfortable relaxing atmosphere with our family to celebrate our Golden Wedding anniversary.
There was nothing to dislike
Great food and accommodation.
very friendly welcome. excellent home-cooked food. charming pub and accommodation. a wonderful and relaxing overnight stay.
The charm of the rooms, the rural nature of the pub itself and the FOOD! Let me tell you, if you have the Ribeye, you will not be disappointed!
Lovely cosy inn with inglenook fireplace. Rooms are separate, very well equipped with first class linen, all amenities. The staff could not have been nicer. Sadly we did not get a chance to eat but believe the restaurant is super and the menu looked great. We wish we could have stayed longer - will definitely be back again!
