Sue,
Orpington
This small but perfectly formed boutique hotel dates from 1600. It has an award-winning cocktail lounge and stylish, individual bedrooms with free Wi-Fi. Several restaurants are within a 3-minute walk. Rooms are modern and relaxing with huge walk-in showers, Molton Brown toiletries and many original features. A pot of tea/coffee can be delivered to your room for free from 7 a.m. until midnight. Continental breakfast is included in the room rate. The Kenilworth opened in 2005 and is independent and family-run. The main building is Grade II heritage-listed so you may have to duck your head and watch your step in some parts! The wonderful cocktail lounge serves wonderful cocktails, wines and champagne. It has won several awards from Theme Magazine over the last few years and was nominated for ‘Best Boutique Hotel Bar’ in the country by Imbibe Magazine. Hotel Rooms: 11

Room is super, but is not quite what we were expecting we were in the rear in a seperate building - a modern detached house that had been converted, massive room probably 25 x 17, plus an ensuite, bang and olufsen electrical and really clean. The bar was a very trendy cocktail bar, lovely drinks. Parking was an issue, its in the city centre and realistically the only place to park is at the rear of the bar area - space for about ten cars, but 6 are in columns behind each other. the deal was that we leave keys in reception, we had travelled in our ferrari and didnt fancy that as it would have invalidated our insurance, Theres no restaurant on site, so we were told pretty much we needed to stay in the vicinity and were actually quite on edge all evening, worrying about blocking some one in.

The room was fantastic!! The wet room was large and had a great shower with plenty of towels. The bar is also a good little spot for their amazing cocktails. They don't do bar meals, but do have platters and small nibbly bits you can order to soak up some of the cocktails. Wish we had more time to sample more off the menu! One thing that might affect other guests - in room 5 (and poossibly room 4 as well) there is a sky light with losse fitting blind - we stayed on a sunny couple of days so the light woke us up in the morning. This didn't bother us as we went back to sleep, but if youare a light sleeper and want a lie in ask for one of the other rooms.

I have stayed here twice before and without problems but this time there were several annoyances. Primarily our room was above the main cocktail bar and it was very noisy until 1;30. Not great mid week with an early start.. The room was stiflingly hot. In the nicely designed bathroom the above bath shower could not be fixed on the wall.

The room was clean and well furnished and included a large TV and coffee-making facilities. The information provided at the point of booking made reference to a hotel bar, which sounded lovely and was one of the main reasons we chose it. Unforutnately, the bar, which was very small, was open to the public and so when we came back from dinner wanting a nightcap, it was very full and very noisy. This was disappointing.

The Kennilworth is a cracking little place. It is a small pub built in an old terrace building. So it has little seating areas. The rooms out the back are in converted outbuildings. These are high spec. It has a great wetroom and superb shower. THe staff are great. It has reasonably priced nice wine in the bar/pub. The main street has a good selection of restaurtants so they dont need one themself. I'm in that area for business quite a lot and norm ally stay in 4* big hotels. although this is not a "hotel" in my opinion but a bar with superior accommodation out the back. I prefer it to the large hotels in the area. I'll always look here first for availability...... see car keys in the negative section. You have to leave your car keys in case anyone needs out. My car is not insured for anyone to drive except me. I think next time I'll leave it in a nearby street.

It is a small boutique hotel that has obviously been lovingly/thoughtfully designed and decorated. Very comfortable, good sized and well appointed rooms, extremely clean and well equipped with an excellent bathroom and free wifi. Staff were so friendly and welcoming and I had a really good nights sleep. I was expecting more of a "corporate" hotel feel and it really wasn't what I expected but I would certainly return and recommend it either for business visitors or for a romantic weekend break.

It was a very unusal hotel and very unique. The rooms were near to the cocktail bar and whilst it was quiet when i stayed there, i can imagine that at weekends it would be very busy.

Loved the 'boutique' hotel feel to the place, the design/decor were distinctive, and the staff were excellent We will definitely go back there Nothing much really - if I had to pick something for improvement in teh future I would add aircon. It was somewhat hot in the bedroom (about 23 degrees outside when we stayed there) . There was a large fan in the room which helped but you could not sleep with this on.

The staff were very accommodating and the suite was fantastic. The cocktail lounge was amazing, with the widest variety of cocktails ever!! The hotel was only 15min drive for the racetrack where we went for driving experiences the following day. I would definitely recommend The Kenilworth to friends and family. When we arrived the room was very cold, but once we got all the radiators turned up it warmed up in no time :)
