The proximity to local facilities and the bed! The room was not very clean. The bed and shower etc were ok but the kettle and tray were filthy and also the ledge in the bathroom. The taps and chrome fittings in the bathroom could have used a wipe over too.

We have an interest in the Royal Engineers, both our fathers were corporals in that regiment. We wanted to visit the RE Museum We chose King Charles as the closest hotel; also because it is family-run and not a "chain". It was also very good value for the price paid. The bedroom was basically clean and tidy. On closer investigation, the bathroom window had not been cleaned for a long time, and aspergillus fungus was growing on the lower seal. This is a potent cause of Asthma, so should be dealt with promptly. The toilet also has a dirty label stuck on the pedestal, not very nice. I hope room 240 is the only one with problems like these?

Good family orientated accommodation with triple rooms and rooms with bunk beds for children. Very dated and in need of renovation and repair (broken ceiling tiles and curtains with holes amongst other things). Beds in need of replacement.

For me, the main points for any hotel stay are * the competence and friendliness of the staff - the King Charles is excellent in this regard - friendly and very helpful; * the comfort and cleanliness of the room - again, very good in all regards; * the price and quality of the food - very reasonably priced and well presented. My life involves me in regular short stays in hotels for business purpose, and this is definitely one I would use again and recommend for others.

I found the hotel staff friendly, the room and en-suite was clean, tidy. Although I needed to budget I was impressed with the quality. If need to stay in the area again I would be happy to stay at this hotel again. If I needed to be critical. The wall paper in the room 'wood-chip' is a bit dated and was damaged in places. Also the varnished wood work and furniture made the room look even more dated. But the room was very clean and well presented. It would of been handy if there was some sort of presentation folder in the room with such things as menu for the restaurant, or local entertainment ect. Also at the reception area adjacent to the main counter there was a glass screened area which I thought looked out of place and not inviting, but unfortunately it's the first thing you see when entering the hotel,

It was a comfortable, reasonably priced hotel in an easily accessible place, with good facilities. Much better than staying in the Travel Lodge, which is where I usually stay when I travel to Kent on business. I asked for a quiet room and this was arranged. I will certainly return. Thank you.

None of the above really, it was elegant yet informal and it was very easy to get to and fromby public transport. You need to broaden your questions to include: location. Excellent staff. Kep it up.

Easy to find and good location for museums, shopping centre and tourist attractions. Room was very comfortable and clean. Hotel was very busy so parking difficult but we did eventually find a space....and although busy it was not noisy, which is a real plus. Breakfast was good although a bit slow to get cooked breakfast after sitting down especially as they were not busy at that point.Would recommend and would stay again.

The service of the staff was the best, i got on with the bar staff and receptionists. The breakfest was poor, small portion for a full English, no black pudding. but thumbs up to the porridge.

“Friendly staff who've obviously been well trained; full marks for service. The rooms have a warm, homely feel about them and there are several nice touches that hint at the history and add to the charm of this historically significant building. Enjoyed a hearty breakfast overlooking the picturesque docks and great views (it was a sunny weekend) over to Upnor castle and woods!” Marcel, Guildford |
