The proximity to local facilities and the bed! The room was not very clean. The bed and shower etc were ok but the kettle and tray were filthy and also the ledge in the bathroom. The taps and chrome fittings in the bathroom could have used a wipe over too.

Very friendly and helpful staff. Plenty of car parking space. Well cooked and presented breakfast also very quick service with staff taking you to your table as soon as you went in. Bedroom and bathroom very clean with good facilities. Also well heated. No direction signs on road which we were told was due to local council prohibiting them.

The reception staff were excellent and made us feel really welcome. The reception and breakfast areas look smart. The aquariums everywhere lend a nice additional touch. The furniture in the room we stayed in was pine wich looks dated to me; my man liked it. But the price we paid for a double room inclusive breakfast was just excellent value. I'll definitely come again.

Staff were nice, service was good, food was basic but quite good and very cheap. Double room / bathroom was basic and a little tacky , very tiny but clean. This hotel is desperate for refurbishment, OK for a quick one night stay but any longer could leave you feeling depressed....

Although I only have to come down to Kent once a year on business I always like to stay at the King Charles . Although my business is in Rochester and there are hotels nearer the friendly, well trained, cheerful staff always give my wife and myself ( and my little dog ) a warm welcome. The meals are excellent, accommodation spotlessly clean and warm and there is a nice relaxing bar area . I always recommend this hotel to relatives, friends and work colleagues. Well done keep up the good work.

I liked the breakfast! The bathrooms were very good. Pleasant and helpful staff. The rooms were very dated. Needs rennovation immediately. Location wasn't made clear. Front of the hotel also needs updating. Bad first impression, wanted to leave and find another hotel.

This is an average hotel that serves a purpose to have a bed for the night. The wifi in the lobby didn't work very well and was frustrating. The staff were friendly but a little too relaxed. Some staff were professional, others simply weren'T.

We found the hotel to be a good value budget hotel , with very friendly and helpful staff, particularly at the 24 hour reception, which reflects the fact that it's a family run buisiness

Our room was very pleasant. Plenty of cupboard space and the bathroom had plenty of shelves for placing our toilet bags and items. The staff were very friendly. My one and only thing I did not like was no mushrooms for breakfast and no alternative to dairy milk. A minor thing as you cannot be expected to cater for everyones dietry needs.

clean and convient location Stayed there several times my only problem with the hotel is the positioning of fixtures in the room TV is hard to watch when in bed in 3 rooms we have stayed. Bed light was baddly positioned in another had to remove shade and bulb as kept knocking of the shade when sitting up in bed. Restauant is funtional and the food portions are large. Lounge and bar area are good shame bar is not open all afternoon.

Value for money, ease of location as attending a function at the hotel.Plenty of free parking. Tired decor, fixtures and fittings in room needed attention, loose and not working. Same staff attending to front reception and bar area which meant that they were very hard pushed to do both jobs at busy time and food arrived cold.

Attempts to create some luxury out of a dated building. Breakfast was good. Friendly staff. Cleanliness in public areas seemed good. Convenience to Gillingham Town Centre Low flow of water out of shower that eventually flowed hot. Damp smell in room. Ill fitting carpets. (Shrunk after a leak?) Cold room on arrival owing to windows being left open (to mask damp smell). Inappropriate suspended ceilings, in which the void is unventilated and the probable source of "damp". Asthetically they spoil the other attempts to improve the decor. No real ale Only exterior access to some of the function rooms.
