When I arrived I was in a single room which smelled of rotting wood. When I spoke to reception the next day, they arranged for me to be moved to a double room with a 4 poster bed which was lovely and very spacious. Much more like what I would have expected for the money I paid. Both bathrooms had been very tastefully modernised. The smell of rotting wood in the original bedroom and also when I spoke about it the next day, the fact that it appeared "they" had checked and didnt smell anything (I had the window open all night and all day and could still smell it).

Serivice was good and staff all very nice. The room smelled of dampness and was not that nice for £130 per night. There was no comfy lounge with tv for residents to relax in and the breakfasts were horrible

On arriving at the hotel, it seemed to be a little run down from the outside which considering the price was surprising. The first room allocated was a standard double but although it had a newly refurbished shower/toilet, it was evident that it could have done with a good clean from the "toilet" smell within it. A good bleach clean would have sufficed! On complaining, we were offered a replacement room which smelt a little musty and finally we were offered an upgraded room which was very good apart from a slight "whiff of toilet" which we lived with, given the upgrade. The one evening meal we had was very good but pricey compared with what was on offer elsewhere in Lerwick

The bathrooms are really well appointed as are the bedrooms with digital TV / DVD players and Sony iDock alarm clocks. It's interesting to get to. Very narrow, single track road and a blind corner.

Modern, recently refurbished and spotless bathrooms. Reception staff were helpful and pleasant and we appreciated being able to leave baggage after check out for later pick up. We did not feel that the quality of some of the food offered at breakfast was very good. Specifically, the cooked breakfast had a strong taste of fat and included very low quality sausages (deep fried and very fatty). Would expect better when paying £130 a night.

The hotel was centrally located and the staff were friendly. A lack of heating in the hotel made it slightly uncomfortable.
