Richard,
Plymouth
The historic Lamb dates back to the 12th century and offers a pub, dining room and individually styled bedrooms with satellite TV. Stonehenge is a 25 minute drive away. The building retains plenty of its original character and features including inglenook fireplaces, flag-stone floors and heavy wooden beams. Each room has a spacious bathroom with toiletries and free Wi-Fi access. Outside is a heated, covered terrace where you can enjoy a Havana cigar or one of 200 malt whiskeys. Inside you will also find a sitting room and meeting room. The Lamb Inn sits in the middle of the charming Wiltshire village of Hindon and is only 20 minutes from Salisbury and Longleat Safari Park. By 1870 The Lamb was a coaching inn that supplied horses for coaches to London and the West Country. Hotel Rooms: 19

All staff were friendly and courteous. The rooms were impeccable. Food was excellent. regrettably whilst sat in the bar one evening the hotel general manager was behind the bar staring at a computer. In front of myself and my wife and other guests in the hotel he loudly berated all the waiting and bar staff stating he was "sick and tired of turning round and seeing them around the bar area". He reduced one of the lady bar staff to tears. This is incredibly unprofessional and as a person who has a large amount of experience in customer service felt I should bring this matter to your attention. I look forward to seeing your response to me and this will show me that my comments have been read and dealt with. Many Thanks

The cosy atmosphere in the bar with games, real fire and Christmas decorations; the young barman who was extremely attentive and helpful - unlike the morning staff at breakfast - and our room. The quality, quantity and presentation of the evening meal was a real disappointment, so much so that I asked whether the chef was away or ill... Not as per its reputation, nor as good as my previous lunch there 18 months ago.

Authencity, quiet We felt that your website was misleading showing rooms at £79 and when you went to book on line it showed 'only one room left' at £105. We took this last room as we had a sad family occasion to go to and because of the location had no choice but to book it. When we got to the hotel it was half empty and we were shown to a room over a garage, tiny with very dangerous stairs. My husband is in his 70's!! We refused the room and were then given another one.At the price of £105 with no breakfast included, this was a very expensive nights stay in a country pub.We were disappointed in the menu, not much of choice. We will not be returning. It took 5 emails to spell our name correctly on the booking!

Location, bedrooms, facilities, character and charm Staff young and lacking maturity with no senior figure running the show.Forgot about who is most important as the customer, going through the motions. When paying the bill the staff that were beside me spent more time looking into each others eyes that minding the customer.Restaurant was quite Saturday evening and we were forget about when ordering desert or tea/coffee.Just got up and walked out, therefore opportunity lost, young staff more interested in getting home.Very obvious no boss in control to show direction or lead.Steak ordered and served luke warm with fries shrivelled up,left under hot lamp too long, steak was tough.Very disappointing and no one to report it to.Did pay for it in full. Love the place and stayed before but would we stay again? Probably not and shows clear signs of slipping.new head person needed to keep standards.

Lovely olde worlde hotel. High standard of decoration. Comfortable well equipped rooms. Helpful staff. Restaurant menu definitely gourmet, could do with a cheaper every day bar menu for those just wanting a quick bite to eat. Having said that the food was of a high standard and would suit special occasion dining or romantic weekend break. Continental breakfast was a little limited and needs to be more varied, or a simple full english should be included in the B & B cost. A hike of £5 per room would cover this improvement and allow more choice for customers.

The room was large, recently refurbished to an excellent standard, and the Inn itself was charming and full of character. Recommended for a relaxing getaway and contrary to some previous comments, we found the staff attentive and friendly.

This was the third time that I have stayed at the Lamb, and each time I haven't been disappointed. It offers a good standard of service, style, comfort, friendliness and great food, offering great value for money. It is the first port of call if I'm in the area on business.

The room was lovley, bed very comfortable Service at dinner was very slow. We sat down at 9.15-9.30, only had a main course and coffees but left the table at 11.45pm. Unbelievably slow. But the food was good.

The room was fine and the ensuite was excellent. Staff were friendly and helpful. A lovely village too. It was such a shame that the gas in the kitchens was not working, so the usual menu wasn't available. However, the staff were very appologetic and still managed to turn out excellent food.

Beds very comfy. Room very clean. Food in restaurant great. Lovely location if you want to walk as we choose to. Have stayed here previously cheaper and with english breakfast included. Quite poor continental breakfast. Same rounds of drinks charged at different prices!!!! Staff not as interested in serving at the bar or at the restaurant as during my previous stays - all staff quite young so not sure if this makes a difference. Very strange for staff to sit in hall way in the mornings whilst changing rooms with dirty linen/ towels etc strewn around the corridor. For these reasons I dont think I will be returning again.

“The staff were all extremely pleasant from the moment we arrived until the moment we left. The full English breakfast was unbelievable! - there was a really good range of cooked dishes but the 'full English' (including the huge teapot of tea) was enough to keep us going all day and was exceptionally tasty. The range of bar and a la carte food in the evening was very good and saved us the need to look elsewhere.” Vicky, North Shields |
