Score from 92 reviews
“ The friendliness of the owners. The cleanliness. Our amazing room. The knowledge of the area that the owners took time to share with us. Excellent amenities. Great food. Everything really! ”

Auckland
With magnificent views of the sea and the hills of glorious Exmoor, this small, family-run bed and breakfast is set in its own well-tended gardens with an unheated outdoor pool available in summer. In the small coastal village of Blue Anchor, the Langbury was originally an Edwardian gentleman's residence. Today, it is a friendly guest house, renowned for its particular blend of comfort and personal service. The individually decorated en suite rooms enjoy stunning views of the sea and the hills of Exmoor and the Quantocks. All rooms have tea/coffee, TVs and DVD players. Free Wi-Fi is available throughout. There is a well-stocked bar, a beautiful breakfast room and a lounge with comfortable sofas and a log burner. The full English breakfast features locally sourced produce, cooked on the traditional Aga stove. The Langbury is 100 metres from the beach and Blue Anchor Railway Station, where you can board a steam train on the longest preserved railway in the country. The location was lovely and Paula and Nigel the owners of The Langbury were fantastic. They were friendly, very informative, and always made time to come and talk to you. The hospitality was excellent. We will definitely be going back there again and would recommend it. The location was lovely and within easy reach of many places to visit.

Paula and Nigel were very welcoming and did everything they could to make our stay comfortable. The rooms were excellent and we had a good time :) Shower didn't have quite the power that I'm used to but having said that it is probably normal and what we have at home is probably more fierce than most!

The warm welcome..literally! Lovely log fire in the lounge and tea and delicious cake ready as soon as we arrived. Our room was spotless and super-comfortable with everything we needed. The food was excellent. We felt really welcome and well cared for and will certainly be visiting again. Nothing.

We have stayed in a number of B&B hotels over the years but this one has to be among the best. Paula and Nigel were welcoming and friendly. The facilities were of a very high standard - and the breakfast was superb. Will definitely be returning to the Langbury in the future.

From the moment we arrived until we left it was perfect. The Langbury was that good that we booked up to go back later in the year before this trip had finished. What more can I say.

If you are looking for a place to watch steam trains in superb coastal/moorland scenery, look no further than The Langbury in Blue Anchor Bay, West Somerset. If you want comfortable accommodation, excellent breakfasts (look out for the scrambled egg on smoked salmon!), try this stylish-but-traditional hotel just 100 yards from the railway station and close to a long beach. The nearby attractive village of Dunster is chock-full of tea/coffee shops, and geologists will find much of interest along the shore, too. Add to this the absolutely superb service from Nigel and Paula, who were exceptionally helpful when we had a mishap with our car. Steep driveway, best approached from the south

Warm and welcoming owners. Superb breakfast. Very pleasant, comfortable and well equipped rooms. Lots of finishing touches. Peaceful location. Delicious veggie meals on menu at Smugglers Cove pub a 10 minute walk away. Nearby Dunster is lovely.

Absolutelly wonderful stay! Paula and Nigel, the owners, made my stay like at home. Every detail has been thought through, house is so well decorated, rooms are well arranged, beds and sheets are fantastic, breakfast superior. And more important - you really feel well taken care of!

The Langbury is in a fabulous location, but it is the hospitality of Paula and Nigel that make it such a success. Without being in the least bit oppressive they are extremely friendly and genuine people. They both take so much pride in what they do and the resulting conditions in the hotel are simply excellent. We would stay there again in a heart-beat.

We loved the location, the hospitality of Nigel and Paula and their knowledge of the area which enabled us to make the most of our short stay. With regard to the location, it was perfect for our planned visit to Dunster Castle and within walking distance which was a bonus. We were also within walking distance of an evening out at the local Smugglers Inn which was reached by a ten minute walk along the seafront. Perfect.
