The Langley Hotel18-20 London Road, TN10 3DA Tonbridge (Show map) Review score 5.8 Score from 183 reviews“The staff were really friendly and helpful. The breakfasts were excellent. The room was spacious and comfortable. I had a really peaceful, quiet restful time. Beautiful old building. Very convenient to the town.”

The Langley is a relaxed, family-run hotel, a 20-minute walk from central Tonbridge. It has a pretty secluded yard with a gazebo, a terrace for drinks and free private parking. Each bedroom has a private bathroom with bathtub or shower, and tea and coffee-making facilities. Breakfast at The Langley includes a selection of cheeses, fruits, yogurt, cereals and an English breakfast. Special diets can be catered for in advance. Tonbridge Castle and the famous Tonbridge School are passed on the way to the center of town. Tonbridge Train Station is about a 5-minute drive away. The staff is happy to book taxis upon request or to help if guests need help with their baggage. The Langley is not far from the Tonbridge-to-Penshurst off-road cycle track and Hayesden Country Park, where cyclists and walkers can enjoy the lakes and wildlife. Committed to the local community, the hotel supports the local farmers’ market, clubs, charities and the Tonbridge Half Marathon. Many staff at the hotel also take part in voluntary work on a regular basis. Hotel Rooms: 39

The nicest thing about the hotel was the staff. The same person was on reception when I arrived, served my evening meal and served breakfast in the morning. She also helped me over a problem in my room. She couldn't do enough to help. The garden out the back was lovely and as the weather was nice it was possible to sit out and enjoy it. To be honest it was a little faded and lacked atmosphere but it was clean and served nice food. Not everything worked in my room but the staff moved me to a nicer room for which I was grateful.

Both the receptionists were extremely helpful The cleanliness of the room and surrounding area were appalling. I don`t think the carpet had seen a hoover in weeks. The bed was clean but the overall feeling was dirty.

The staff were fantastic really friendly and made you feel welcome from entering till leaving, very accomadating. The breakfast on offer was outstanding huge variety of breakfat foods to choose from. Didnt go out back but the view of the gardens from dining room looked very nice. And dining room looked large enough to be used for confrences The room was clean but some of the fixtures and fitting could do with updating, and it was a bit cold at night.

The staff at the Langley Hotel were friendly and enthusiastic both before and during my stay. The hotel provides good value, in an easily accessible location, with clean facilities and a very acceptable breakfast. My only concern during my stay was a lack of staff during the breakfast service which, while not a major issue for me personally, would have caused a reasonable delay if one was in a hurry.

Dirty, old, badly maintained, reminded us of a real life fawlty towers, but without the comedy. This place has no right to call itself a hotel and should be shut down by the local authority

The location was lovely. Stream and lovely countryside walk just over the road. Not far from shops and the Tonbridge Castle. Staff very friendly and accommodating. The cleanliness of the rooms left a lot to be desired. The drawers and cupboards were dirty, and so was the bathroom shower rail and the floor. The basin was cracked - a germ breeder.

A very friendly, welcoming hotel. Ideally situated to visit the gorgeous contryside. Go and spend a few hours at Scotney castle, the house and gardens (!!) are undescribable!!! We had a large room towards the main road. Though it was rather busy during the day, the traffic quietend down towards the evening. The bed was very comfortable and even though I am a light sleeper, I had a brilliant good night's sleep! A special congratulations on the breakfast buffet: large choice, superbly cooked and very tasty indeed. We definately recommend this hotel

Very helpful receptionist. Produced a map for us from Google maps. Room smelled of drains and too hot. Light over sink in bathroom did not work. Bed small and too soft and only one very flat pillow each. My wife felt ill in the night (not the hotel's fault) so we left early and did not stay for breakfast, so cannot comment on breakfast.

The full English breakfast was probably the best we have come across in a budget hotel. We could not really fault anything for cleanliness.Facilities for coffee/tea in the room were good. The hotel and rooms all have a slightly neglected air. The bed was uncomfortable for us oldies, though probably adequate for the young. Some light bulbs were not working in the bathroom. The wooden toilet seat was cracked through. The lift was out of order. Despite that if you are not too fussy about old and worn décor and you want something cheap - this could be the place.

The hotel is tired, shower would only run very hot so unusable, breakfast was good - waitress over stretched. However a budget hotel so probably what you would expect.

The staff were friendly and the bed was comfortable. The breakfast was fine. It was quiet enough to be able to sleep. The dining room was very cold. The tv reception was appalling. As a solo traveller the tv really needs to be in good working order! They boast that the hotel has sky tv, but fail to mention that they only have sky news and the four terrestrial stations had such poor reception that they were unwatchable.

The price was right but there wasn't much more to shout about. Breakfast was solid and crucially included in cheap deal. Just a bit old and rickety. Staff while not atrocious didn't seem very interested or competent. Our first room we were allocated (#14) was a twin when we had requested a double, and wallpaper was hanging off the wall in great sheets. Decor very outdated and tawdry looking. Tiny TV that won't survive the digital switchover, poorly cleaned etc etc. Our second room (#24) (after long wait at reception unattended) was better kept - apart from some very old looking cobwebs - but no better appointed. Drab and uninspiring, and with a strange tap-to-shower-head affair that inexplicably refused to blend hot and cold water. Cold tap = freezing, but engage the hot tap at all and it would only run blindingly hot. After around 15mins wasted when trying to get ready to leave the winning ratio of about 1 part hot : 64 parts cold seemed to hold at lukewarm. Incidentally we had wanted to have dinner at the hotel but it was not offered as an event had taken up the dining room; our money went to a pizza place instead. Breakfast was a pleasant surprise to quell our apprehension, hot where required and chilled where not; and plentiful. Pity we ate on our own and unattended! Very happy with the cheap price but with so many apparently long-standing failings i cannot say it was value for money. Cheap and cheerless possibly.

Has a solo traveller I felt safe and was made very welcome I'm sorry I am unable to remember the lady name on reception, she always makes me feel comfortable and welcoming, she understand my visit, she also works in the resturant at breakfast time and again very pleasant, I will always choose The Langley Hotel over all the local hotel for the excellant value, comfort, safety and good fresh cooked breakfast............Thank you
