Friendly atmosphere, good choice of foods for breakfast, central & ample facilities in hotel room. Not being told that I'd be charged extra for my stay by the hotelier when I checked out & having to make a telephone call to find out why. |

The room was up a tiny attic staircase which was difficult to carry luggage up and down. The food was certainly not home-cooked as advertised but was large portions. Needs update to decor. Full of contractors, which is not comfortable for lone female traveller. |

Room was clean, plenty of parking, prompt check-in/out process, close to town. Asked for a nice restaurant and they just listed off the takeaways at the end of the road. Decor had a DIY feel to it, paint all over the windows and just painted on the top of wallpaper. Tower rail collapsed on touching it and constant noise from saniflows, fridges and my girlfriend asking why I hadn't booked the hotel across the road. I don't think the price justified what was basically a shed in the car park (next to the owners Bentley). I don't mind a bit of character but this is one of the few times I wished we were in a TravelLodge. |

The staff were helpful and pleasant, all appliances worked and the room was comfortable, so it was perfectly adequate for a short stay (providing one does not want a cooked breakfast!) The floors needed hoovering thoroughly throughout the hotel. The cooked breakfast was poor by even lenient standards! The overall meal was extremely greasy, the sausages used were obviously very poor quality and most unpleasant to taste and the chef (again, very obviously) did not use clean griddles/pans as every component of the meal had black flecks of of burnt old food and discoloured oil on them-yuck! The coffee was also undrinkable. However, there was an adequate range of cereals, fruit and yoghurt as a substitute. |
