We were only there for one night and we literally just slept there then had a shower in the morning.... Didn't manage to wake up in time for breakfast but the lady on reception was helpful in calling us a taxi and even gave us an extra key to get in as we were going to be late. As it goes the night porter was still there and he was very pleasant too! The Lodge was perfect for what we needed so the only thing I can really say I didn't like was the fact it was in a service station which I don't remember seeing any mention of that on the website (could've been an oversight on my behalf) but the pictures of the place made it look totally different to how it actually was. .... Oh and the taps weren't very secure on the sink and there was a touch of black mould around the edge of the bath. Nowt major though

Clean comfortable room. Friendly staff. Breakfast was very good. Restaraunt food was excellent, would recomend the steaks & sunday roasts. Hotel looks a bit tatty at the rear, could do with a tidy up, inside is quite nice.

Friendly family owned and run with local touch. Cumfy bed and all the typical motel facilities. I would have a ticked a box for "Convenient location to motorway / airport" if you had offered that. More sockets in the room would be useful.

staff were friendly not sa lot else was good. The food was appauling I had dinner at the lodge and MacDonalds next door would have been a better option. The fish cakes were cold in the middle and the roast beef was grey and tasteless.Frozen and reheated yorkshire puddings and the vegetables were straight form the microwave.

The breakfast and restaurant staff at breakfast were excellent and couldn't do enough for us. Tea and coffee facilities in room were very welcome. Makesure you have a key that works to enter the building after 10:30pm as the night porter who was on duty when we stayed (new years eve) was rude and resented having to let us in.

Convient for motorway from north or south The bed was pretty awful and sleep was virtually impossible due to the springs being felt through the mattress. We visit the Bedale area regularly but will not be using your premises again.

Proximity to amenities There was only one plug point in our room. Totally unacceptable. You couldn't dry your hair and boil the kettle. You couldn't boil the kettle and watch tv. All in all - you could only use an appliance one at a time.

The location to where we wanted to go the next day. The staff were polite and friendly. Plenty of hot water for shower. A handy shop next door selling an array of things. The proximity to the a1, but as I live in the countryside and never hear any traffic noise I suppose it was difficult to get used to. Having said that if I was to find myself needing a place to stay for a couple of nights in the area again I would return here. I would recommend but not if I was staying more than a couple of nights

Extremely expensive for a very average hotel and breakfast. I would happily pay up to £40 for a single there but £76 is robbery.

It was warm, clean, good room with good tv. Nice bathroom, beds comfortable. Food very good. Only downside is entrance to Lodge, off the car park which is not signed,so you can see where the entrance is, or where the lodge car park is.

We have stayed there previously on a football trip to the northeast and find the location very convenient to make a weekend break of it being easily able to access both the moors and dales as we head back south to our home. On both occasions we have found the staff very friendly and obliging and the food to be of good quality within our price range It is becoming a bit tired and could do with a freshen up.

Some of the staff were ok but they need to sack the night porter The rooms were dated and the wardrobedoor was hanging off. Too plug in the kettle you had to put it on the floor and risk scalding when retreiving it because all the plugs were at floor level. The residents bar was closed before 10.30 which was completely unacceptable. The breakfast was very poor quality, salty bacon, cheap sausages and hard eggs. I would not stay there again.
