The pleasant and efficient owner and staff. The menu which reflected the use of local sources where possible. The food which was imaginitvely prepared and served. The general décor - especially the restaurant and the bar area with its unusual Welsh slate fireplace. The spacious car park. The following difficulties were largely dictated by the geography of the site and would not be problems for those younger,- we are in our eighties! The small motel-type rooms which opened immediately onto an open gallery. The cramped conditions in the en-suite area. The steps up to the main entrance and also up to the sleeping accommodation. I realise that this was inevitable because of the restrictions of the site itself - at least it was possible to use sloping pathways instead but these were not obvious on arrival with luggage.

We stayed at The Lodge for 3 nights to visit family who were also staying in Wales. The welcome and friendliness of the staff made our stay really enjoyable. We had planned to eat out in the evenings but the food was delicious so we ate there each night! Lovely atmosphere and super place to 'chill'.

The staff were very welcoming and polite. The room was large enough for us as a family of four and very clean throughout. There is plenty of parking at the hotel which is a bonus as it can be hard to find parking in the local area. The food was excellent in both the restaurant and breakfast room. The hotel is well placed for visiting places of interest in the North Wales area. We will definitely visit The Lodge Hotel again.

The owner is a "hands on" hotelier which is usually good for customers. In this case we found him to be excellent, very friendly and made you feel at home immediately. The hotel is situated with many interesting historical areas within just a few miles eg. Conwy castle and Snowdonia national park. The accommodation was spotlessly clean and tidy, the food was very good, nothing was too much trouble. My wife and son are vegetarians and their preferances were well catered for. The staff looked very happy in their work, no doubt spilt over from the example of Neil the owner. There is a huge car park, which we found very helpful. In our opinion this hotel is first class and we hope to return again. We would highly recommend this hotel. Ken Pauline Joe Price

Although I booked a "Family / Executive" room for 4 persons, the hotel charged me extra for my two children. Also, the children's sofa-bed needed to be made up by ourself, and the matrass on that bed was of poor quality.

My first impression was that the main building was slightly dated. The car park is large and there are magnificent gardens with tables and benches to sit at and secluded areas all around. The entrance hall would benefit from losing the dark wallpaper. Once through the doors there was the friendliest welcome I have ever experienced in a hotel. Totally relaxed, smiling but efficient. Formalities over, we were taken to our rooms and shown how the equipment works. The rooms are clean and comfortable (again slightly dated layout) with the biggest bed ever. Sheer bliss. Once refreshed we all met in the lounge area for pre dinner drinks where we were able to order and were shown through to our table in the modern restaurant. Good food and service. The next morning we were one of the last to go in for breakfast but there was no sense of 'hurry up' and we were able to enjoy a leisurely and tasty meal. I would highly recommend this hotel for its location, friendliness, comfort and service. Enjoy. We didn't have time for a longer stay.

Food was excllent both breakfast and dinner, good choices beatifully cooked and presented. Staff were frriendly and helpful. My husband is coeliac and they understood his requirements for gluten free food. Rooms were fine, quiet clean, large bed and ideal for our needs. We would have liked to sit in the main building longer, but it closed at 9.00pm Bathrooms were a bit on the small side

The Lodge is a small country hotel, kept spotlessly clean by friendly staff. The location is quite splendid, and it has an unusually generous car park. The cuisine is of a universally high standard, contributing in no small way to a very enjoyable stay. At the time of writing, the tv signal in the hotel's area was a bit iffy.

The location. Didn't like the idea of having carpet right through into the bathroom, I felt this was not very hygienic and found it strange to have to walk back in the bedroom to use the hand basin.

Friendly welcome. Lovely clean beds. The food was excellent both breakfast and the evening meal. Both dining rooms were well designed, but with different themes. We will certainly visit the Lodge again. This is not a complaint, but I love to have a cappuccino or latte coffee after a good meal, unfortunately only coffee with milk was available.

Comfortable room, though small, in a quiet area with warm friendly staff. Excellent breakfasts. Paper thin walls mean you can hear people in the next room talking/going to the bathroom. Pipes make a terrible racket when the neighbours flush the toilet.
