On the edge of Snowdonia National Park, the 4-star Whinward House is just a 10-minute walk from the center of Conwy. The traditional guesthouse offers scenic views, free Wi-Fi and cooked breakfasts.
Score from 102 reviews Very good
On the banks of the Menai Strait and at the water’s edge of Snowdonia with fantastic views, this hotel is just 10 minutes' drive from Bangor and Caernarfon.

location, staff very accommodating
Very nice meal
No wifi in rooms.
staff were excellent nothing was to much trouble
needs updating, tvs still have video and made a buzzing noise.
could not fault anything
The staff was lovely. I left a couple of things in the closet when we checked out, and housekeeping called the local laundromat where she thought we had stopped. Needless to say, I was very surprised when the laundromat attendant asked if we were the Americans who had been staying at the Lodge! I'd stay there again in a heartbeat.
Dinner was okay.
5 pounds for wifi. Much too expensive. Room overpriced for dated furniture. Twin beds instead of double. Weird dinner setup. No breakfast set out. No value for what we paid.
Rooms need updating. Window in door and flimsy curtains. Not clear when booking that room was in an outside block.
The room was very silent as we had requested and it was quite spacious; the car park is quite spacious and the tea and coffee facilities ok. Breakfast was quite good too, even though we didn't try the full English breakfast.
Never slept in an en-suite room having a washbasin in the room, outside the bathroom! More than a hotel, it looked like a kind of old-fashioned residence, too far from the twon centre and quite badly furnished (at least for the price asked for).
management staff excellent. bedroom good, lovely outlook over the garden, meals good. I would recommend the hotel & use it again.
Position worked for us. Food quality was OK. Good car parking.
Attitude of staff. Breakfast could have had much more choice with some fruit or yogurt for example. We were ignored when we sat down for breakfast for some time. Would have been nice if doors in the room shut and could be opened easily. Told no evening meals available when we called, fact they do do them! Small TV that failed frequently. No heating in the morning.
TV inadequate,(15/17") screen.
We were upgraded when we arrived and we had a lovely room which was spacious, clean and the king-size bed was very comfortable. The bathroom was also very good. The breakfast was very good.
The evening meal can be a little expensive and there is no nearby eating places you can visit.
The breakfasts were excellent, the bar area was very friendly and was well stocked. The owner was very friendly and helpful and all of the staff were lovely. Both dining areas were very nice, we had a meal one evening and it was very good.
Location, breakfast, friendly staff
Access after reception closed via dark side entrance with no obvious lighting. Stayed in room 4 and was woken by noisy pipes as other rooms had showers. Breakfast only bewteen 8.30 and 9.30... not exactly a lie in!! For £95.00 was disappointed and feel if you going to charge this sort of price for B&B then facilities need to match. I can only descride it as a cross between Bates and Crossroads Motel!!
Location, kind, helpful staff.
position of the lodge.
orange juice only as an alternative - tight with the milk - not good at all.
Nice hotel breakfast was lovely.
Room was adequate but the bathroom was very small with the sink situated outside in the bathroom.
Excellent restaurant. Friendly staff. Good welcome for dog. Lots of space for dog to run around.
The staff we're very friendly & helpful.
The accommodation. Small, in need of updating, no sink in the bathroom. Bathroom small with no extractor fan. Furniture was tired looking. Bedroom door opened directly onto the outside path to all the other bedrooms. There is no sound insulation and I felt very exposed with the door opening directly onto the garden. I wouldn't stay here again and felt it was way overpriced for the type of accommodation.
My husband and I found this property to be well situated, accommodating, offered delicious food, and the garden area was absolutely beautiful. Would happily stay again if in the area.
Booked a family room stipulating a cot was needed for our one year old. When we arrived we had a large bed and sofa in our room with sheets left out presumably to turn the sofa into a bed for our 3 year old. When we asked at reception about the cot a very pleasant yet very stressed girl told us that the hotels one cot was being used by another family. And we were left without any cot or sleep for the night. When we checked out the next morning the older lady was having none of my complaints and told me to wait for the proprietor who never bothered to show his face. Felt service was completely lacking in this establishment and would definitely not recommend to families or anyone who expects more than a musty smelling room and lumpy bed for £120 a night
Nice quiet location
