Convenient for town centre. Friendly and efficient service. Excellent breakfast choices. Not rushed to check out.

"Executive" single room was adequate but small.

It has a very traditional feel to it. The staff are all very friendly and can have a good chat with them all.

The bar is a tad on the small side.

Front desk staff were great and had loads of local tips.

Breakfast finishes at 9am

The friendliness off the staff, nothing was too much trouble. They were really helpful wth directions etc. Room/bed was very comfortable and clean The cooked breakfast was great, you could have anything, again nothing was too much trouble. I really enjoyed my stay here

There is no lift. Some rooms are on the top floor, several flights of stairs to carry bags. However, the staff always asked if i needed any help and were always available to help.

This is my second visit to the lord lister hotel with my son , the reception staff are very nice and helpful , and have a very good knowledge of the area and local restaurants , they have a large map and can show you where the restaurants in hitchin are , we arrived on our bikes , after visiting the steam rally at old warden , in bedfordshire , and once again , the reception staff told me where to put our bikes for the night , which was under/cover , I was given room 15 , which is at the back of the hotel which is very quite and peaceful , breakfast in the morning was very good with a choice of fresh fruit , yogurts , and cereals , a menu is also displayed at your table , which includes a fall breakfast , or eggs cooked several different ways , if you want tea , a pot of tea is supplied , coffee a lady fills your cup , and when empty asks you if you would like more coffee , toast white or brown , I would recomend the hotel .

We stayed at the Lord Lister for a family wedding....the staff were all very friendly and helpful ....the room was clean and nice and comfy........all in all we enjoyed our stay and would stay here again ..

the only downside was the restaurant wasn`t big enough so there was a back log for breakfast we had to wait in the sitting room for about 40 mins we was supplied tea and coffee while waiting ...this wasn`t a problem for us as we wasn`t in a hurry ...but other guests did get a bit upset.....all in all we enjoyed our stay and would stay here again ..

Nothing to complain about. Nice staff, Nice rooms, nice breakfast. Clean and comfortable. Hitchin a nice town too, with old town center, and only 30 mins from kings cross (London) too.

We stayed at the hotel to attend a wedding locally. We were greeted on booking in and the local area was explained i.e. where to eat etc (some restaurants give good discounts). Our room was in a ground floor annexe and was basic but well stocked with toiletries, towels, tea, coffee etc. The room although near a main road was quiet and we had an undisturbed sleep on two nights. The hotel has a small bar and garden open to residents. The breakfast was good and quick service enabling you to enjoy the area which is very central to the town which has a market at the weekends. Overall an enjoyable stay.

Good location next to very friendly and cosy Half-Moon pub. Lovely spacious and nicely decorated room. Nice family-run feel. My sister in law used the honeymoon suite as we were staying there after the wedding and she was very pleased.

Rooms were nice but external hall areas could do with sprucing up a little. Breakfast was a little disappointing. Lacked the feeling of local produce - sausages clearly from sainsbury's and mushrooms were tinned.

Poor beds and bedding Rooms are old fashioned Absolutely no soundproofing in rooms in Annexe, avoid at all costs if they try and put you in there, you can hear everything in all the other rooms and I mean everything !!
