Excellent location, very spacious hotel with very good facitlities and parking, Staff, especially Reception were very helpful, mid price range offered good value for money Breakfast both days was awful, insufficient Staff on duty, Management not moving staff around to assist others who were unable to cope,.. Buffet breakfast with long queues yet only one very young man left to re fill all the hot platters, platters, etc, resulted in cold breakfasts,..and the Pastry selection wasn't replenished at all, whilst we were in the Dining room..although it was busy, the dining list showed that they knew in advance how many would be having Breakfast, so should have been better prepared. We hadn't dined there during the stay, so cannot comment, but hopefully this was restricted to Breakfast. However, when replying to the Receptionists question about enjoying everything about the stay, I mentioned the Breakfast, and she immediately credited all four Breakfasts in full,.. I pointed out that it wasn't necessary, we had eaten the meals, and expected to pay, but crediting just one meal would be a nice gesture,.. But she wouldn't hear of it, and wouldn't charge a penny, being very firm in stating that they never charge for less than 100% service. Hotel therefore totally redeemed itself on this one point and we wouldn't hesitate to stay there again, and would certainly recommend it to others.

It is a lovely hotel, full of almost stately charm and located within easy distance of the town The whole hotel was freezing cold! In the bar it was so cold that I ended up wearing 2 coats. Everyone who was in there felt the same it was really uncomfortable and spoilt the trip. The bedroom was freezing too and there were 3 of us so we asked for more duvets but they only gave us one between us all. We did complain to the bar staff and reception about how cold we were and a member of the bar staff brought a tiny heater over to us, which was really sweet but totally inadequate

The location is an easy walk to Harrogate town centre. The cooked English breakfast was good quality. The staff were surly, arrogant and disorganised. The receptionist didn't point out the available hotel facilities or even the way to the room. The bed was a very small double bed. The bar surface was very dirty and the barman made no comment when this was pointed out to him. The self-service servery was dangerously hot for guests on both days. It took over 40 mins from leaving the room until checkout because of the inadequate lifts and receptionists. Finally, security was non-existent, with the pedestrian exit to the town being unmanned at all times.

Upon arrival to our room, we noticed a lot of issues around the room and bathroom, a large burn mark on the dressing table, cup ring marks on the window ledge, damp marks on the curtains and pelmit, thick dust on a number of things, (lamps, door frames, pictures) Wall paper hanging off the wall, bed not made properly, paint flaking on the radiator and pipes, stains around the bath. This room looked very delapadated, and for the amount we paid for our weekend stay this was totally unacceptable. We complained and managed to get a room change, but even this room we found issues, the bathroom was very nice, but the blinds again covered in thick dust, and the most displeasing issue was the large stain on the throw on the bed, we rang down to reception to report it, the staff came up viewed the issues we had, and agreed it wasn't acceptable, by this time we just wanted to go out and enjoy the sights of Harrogate as it was going into the evening. Expecting to come back in and find the throw changed and the bathroom cleaned, to our disappointment it wasn'T. The attention to detail for such a reputable company was very poor, and in the end it just felt like the staff just weren't interested wich was disappointing since they were so helpful when we arrived.

ideally locotation for business and great walking distance for anywhere you want to be. I wanted value for money and a great size room to feel almost at home when on busines. I would stay there again in the future. Breakfast was quickly cleared up dead on the dot, very off pushing, staffs were not bother about you still having breakfast and the price dont come cheap!! Have stay at another hotel where u are relax and not rush and a far better service by all staffs plus the breakfast were included in your stay.

Staff tried hard to solve problems at a very busy time but ultimately failed A phoned booking for a second night had disappeared without a trace and they were entirely unable to search bookings without a name match then phoned me to check why I hadn't checked in when we had moved to another hotel

Good location and food. Excellent room which had been recently refurbished The charge for car parking, although not excessive, should be waived for residential guests. Although we have stayed at this hotel previously this is the first time we have been charged.

It was really clost to the shops, gardens in restaurants. I thought that for £119.00 for one night the room was very poor and old fashioned and the bathroom was very poorly cleaned and old. The staff members were not very helpful either. I don’t think the hotel is worthy of 4 stars also there was work going on in the grounds which we was not made aware of before our visit. We often go away for 1 night stays and have stayed in much nicer hotels and think it’s very unlikely that I will recommend or be staying in a Barceló hotel again.

Booking.com did not inform me that there was renovation work going on at the hotel. We arrived to scaffolding outside of our bedroom window obstructing the view. Even worse was 8.45am Saturday morning I was woken by buiders outside the bedroom window. Upon complaining the staff were not interested and merely nodded their heads in agreement that this is not acceptable!

Very friendly and helpful staff, especially the young man on reception and chambermaid. Excellent choice for breakfast, an ideal hotel for all when visiting Harrogate. We have already decided to rebook next year.

The hotel has a very beautifula foyer and seems really grand giving it it a lovely old hotel feel. The rooms need modernising - our bathroom grout and tiles were grubby. There was no air conditioning and it was July. In checking in we had a long wait as the reception area was small and only 2 members of staff. Wifi is not free at the hotel which I feel is a disgrace when my husband were there on business as I am sure others would be. The plumbing was old and it took the bath 30 mins to drain and be re-filled (neither was in clean). The breakfast was ok but not accomodation made for those needing skimmed milk or a wheat-free diet.

The history and the architecture of the building and the evening meal and service was of a high standard. Paying to park our car for our stay annoyed my wife, given teh cost of teh premier room we had booked for our break.
