Very good,

“It was a great experience - it was full of history and had a really interesting book about the hotel in the room. We had a really fun time pretending we were living in 1910 - the dining room is particularly ornate and luxurious, with awesome food.”

Upon arrival to our room, we noticed a lot of issues around the room and bathroom, a large burn mark on the dressing table, cup ring marks on the window ledge, damp marks on the curtains and pelmit, thick dust on a number of things, (lamps, door frames, pictures) Wall paper hanging off the wall, bed not made properly, paint flaking on the radiator and pipes, stains around the bath. This room looked very delapadated, and for the amount we paid for our weekend stay this was totally unacceptable. We complained and managed to get a room change, but even this room we found issues, the bathroom was very nice, but the blinds again covered in thick dust, and the most displeasing issue was the large stain on the throw on the bed, we rang down to reception to report it, the staff came up viewed the issues we had, and agreed it wasn't acceptable, by this time we just wanted to go out and enjoy the sights of Harrogate as it was going into the evening. Expecting to come back in and find the throw changed and the bathroom cleaned, to our disappointment it wasn'T. The attention to detail for such a reputable company was very poor, and in the end it just felt like the staff just weren't interested wich was disappointing since they were so helpful when we arrived.

The lounges/bars were gloomy but comfortable. We found the bedroom and bathroom to be very much "faded" and in need of much refurbishment. Room 202 - sealant peeling off bath, bathroom architrave crumbling .

Great location in beautiful grounds and delightful gardens with friendly staff. Location and set so close to the town centre but still in beautiful grounds.I would possibly not recommend to friends due to the communal areas of the hotel and felt lika an oap mystery tour hotel.

Spotlessley clean room. Comfortable beds. Excellent location. Pleasant grounds. Very noisy when functions on. Two weddings when we stayed. Loud music from function room. Housekeeping in corridors and outside could do with improvement. Breakfast very epensive . We chose to go into town to eat.

For a huge Hotel it was clean and the staff helpful. Room was large and modern and the bathroom contemporary. The Hotel bar was understocked with a poor choice of wines and the beer poor quality. However staff were helpful

The staff were very efficient, friendly, helpful and welcoming. The room was spacious and very quiet - I've never slept so well in a city hotel. Lovely view over the gardens and town. Music playing in the dinging room. Classics not too bad over dinner but old 70's rock music at breakfast - not really necessary or appreciated.

I thought the rooms were excellent and good value. The close proximity to Harrogate town centre was excellent also. They for got my morning wake up call, which could have made me late for my conference.

Enjoyed our stay at the majestic hotel, good value for money and a good location. Very disappointed with the meal we had booked in the restraurant, it was a fixed menu but very poor quality. I also think when you have paid to stay at a hotel you should get the parking free, so that is something I would look at in the future.

Was with a conference and the service of the team who managed the conference service were excellent (from a user perspective. Rooms and facilities were very good. The food was a disappointment. Badly cooked and badly presented. At the conference gala dinner the vegetarian option was shameful - slices of melon as a starter, a bowl of ravioli swimming in a pool of liquid that was supposed to represent a sauce. The bowl was the size I would feed to my grandchildren (all under 8 years). No other accompaniments and when vegetables were requested again the portion size was fit for a todler. In the box below I will answer Yes but tell them to eat somewhere else.

Liked the old world ambiance of the place. It had a good location for the town and getting out into the countryside. Very handy for the Royal Hall since our purpose was to attend a concert there. Food was good and plentiful at meals. Wine list a reasonable price. We could not get a bar snack on Saturday before the theater. The plumbing was bad in our room and hot water scarce.

On a previous brief visit (not staying) we were interested by the building and its history, bought the book and promised ourselves a return someday to stay while next touring the area. It was good to see it mainly kept as original as possible and not ruined by excessive modernisation, though I feel that some of its historic atmosphere has been lost since becoming part of a multinational chain. Our room was large and airy with a good view over the town. However we would have expected a double room to have a double bed, not two singles pushed together, making an uncomfortable ridge in the middle. Also as there are many award winning breweries in the area I was hoping to try some true Yorkshire ales at the hotel. However, although the main bar had 2 Black Sheep hand pumps I was told that, due to a fault, there was no real ale available and no bottled alternatives, only lagers & keg beers. A bit of a let down & an opportunity missed by you to attract guests to try traditional local beers.
