Excellent value for money and a great location. Enjoyed lovely walks from the hotel and into whitstable for fabulous oysters. The room was spacious, very comfortable and well equipped (huge bathroom with sea views) Had one great night at the marine and left reluctantly.

extremely friendly and helpful staff. Mrs Cotter suffered a fall and everyone was keen to help and knew what to do. they were also very helpful with our dispute with another resident. still in sore need of redecoration after 10 years. The state of the stair carpet had a role in mrs cotter's fall.

It gave us an overnight stay. The staff in the main were friendly and helpful. The double bed was tiny and the pillows uncomfortable. Furnishing and carpets are tired. Lighting in the room is minimal. Television only offered 5 channels as the signal was unavailable for Freeview. The shower partition was small. The water temperature fluctuated violently. We certainly paid over the odds for a very basic, uninspiring stay which was a pity as we were staying there as part of a birthday celebration.

The bed was extrememly comfortable and the duvet and towels were excellent quality. HAving reverse cycle air conditioning meant the room was exactly the right temperature. The shower/bath. The bath was slipepry - even when dry, the shower leaked from the base of the pipe and I di hate clingy shower curtains! Although the place looked fairly fresh, there was paint peeling in the bedroom and bathroom and there was some plaster crumbling in the bedroom. The phrase "faded glory" springs to mind - but none of those things would prevent me from staying again.

We liked the quiet location opposite the seafront. The staff were friendly and helpful. Our room and bathroom were large and confortable. TYhe price was competitive. We would have found a chair or hooks in the bathroom useful.

The rooms were clean and the food quality and price were good value. The staff are polite and helpful. The hotel is jaded and is overdue for refurbishment. The bedroom windows are wooden, single glazed and ill fitting...very draughty.

The Marine Hotel had a very friendly atmosphere and the staff were very obliging. An ideal place to stay following a busy day Christmas shopping in Canterbury - only 20 minutes drive away from the bustle of the city.

Lovely big room with large bathroom. Cot was placed in the room for our infant daughter and staff allowed us to stay way past check-out time so that she could have her daytime nap befoe we went to a function later that day. Breakfast was varied and delicious. The location was gorgeous for a mornig walk along the beach (despite the freezing cold!), but our room overlooked a car park. Tea/coffee making facilities were welcomed and the warm bathroom with heated towel rail and roomy bath were appreciated. Despite it being a noisy pub downstairs, we had none of this in our third floor room. The bed squeaked and creked so much that we kept each other awake most of the night and the aircondtioning/heating was extremely erratic and noisy. Unfortunatey dogs are allowed in the hotel so we heard a whining dog for several hours in the night too.

The Marine Hotel has a good bar, excellent beers and a great atmosphere. The breakfast is superb with plenty of choice and freshly cooked food. We stayed in a premiere room with a sea view - it had recently been refurbished to a very high standard - plently of room, very comfortable bed, beautiful bathroom and lovely bath towels. We are looking forward to our next stay.

The location , and car park off road . good bar , breakfast very good The shower head was filthy , the hotel was a little outdated with no lift and decor . the hotel is lucky its the only ball game in town if it had competition it would not be able to charge £75 for a back bedroom .

The breakfast menu had excellent choice for a small hotel. Aircon/heating controls could be activated independently. Beds were quite comfortable. Oh dear The Marine is looking very old and tired and seriously in need of some tlc, it needs a major overhaul. The bathroom wasn't very good, there was a large rust spot on the bottom of the bath and the bath panels and tiles clearly hadn't been cleaned properly in some time. I think it's wrong that hotels concentrate on flat screen tvs, tea/coffee facilities and trouser presses to bump the star rating and neglect the basic standard of decor and cleanliness. I suppose those three items are cheaper than re-fitting a bathroom.

The location is great and the front of the hotel was attractive and the view is lovely. The staff were very pleasant and the breakfast was fine. We booked a premium room (glad we didn't book standard!) and it desperately needed redecorating and refurbishing, chipped bath, loose fittings, paintwork badly needs redoing. Public areas very tired and worn carpets especially on the stairs.

The room was clean and nicely decorated and furnished. Bathroom was nice and big and the balcony with sea view was lovely. Full english breakfast was large. Kippers and marmalade toast was actually nicer than it sounds.

Very helpful receptionist when the lights fused in my room and the bar had some good local ales! Buffet breakfasts are usually ok but the fried eggs seemed to have been cooking for several days...The food wasn't replenished with freshly cooked items as required...
