The bedroom was comfortable and clean and well appointed. The lounge area with views overlooking the sea was very comfortable and relaxing. The staff in this area were very attentive ( think the name of bar man was Adi ...very polite) I felt the staff on reception were rather diffident and not over helpful. The price of breakfast was ridiculous at £19.50p per person. The menu for dinner was limited and very expensive. We felt the hotel was catering for rich American golfers and not your average Mr and Mrs U.K.

Stayed for a wedding and was impressed with the comfort of the beds and the excellent staff. Comfy sofas to lounge in and the food was great. You can also use the spa facilities after you have checked out!

It's location The staff were ignorant, they initially refused to take a debit card and then tried to charge a credit card handling fee when I did use a debit card to pay, the bed was incredibly uncomfortable and squeaked constantly. The tv would be at home in 1990 and had 3 working channels. The whole experience was extremely poor especially as they were charging £150 a night, I have stayed in better hotels for half the price

The spacious ground floor lounge area sets out what should be a good hotel with wonderful views of the Firth of Forth and the Fife coast. Unfortuneately that is the only good part of our visit to this Hotel. The standard of the room allocated to my wife and I is well below the standard this Hotel should be offering. Poor storage for clothes, tea and coffee making had to be placed on the floor, TV at 90 degree wiewing from the bed position. The room was one of the lowest standards we have experienced in years. The shower my wife described accurately as a poor leak of water. McDonald hotel you represent very poor value for money, you have much competition if you don't improve you will not survive. I would love to speak with the Hotel Manager our details are known to him.

Very dissapointed with the room. Previous visits we have had a nice large room, this was supposed to be an executive room, what ever that is!

Friendliness of staff! The beds were very good and the room was large, quiet for a big city like Edinburgh, even during the Festival.

Good Breakfast Large spacious rooms Tremendously overpriced - probably due to opportunism and a shortage of hotel rooms in Edinburgh due to the Fringe Rooms are a little "tired"

Lovely location - ideal for a golf break; very comfortable hotel with good facilities The service in the hotel restaurant was very slow. It took half an hour for our order to be taken and then it was because we asked the waiter if we could please order; and then 40 minutes for our food to arrive, which was really not what we woudl expect in any restaurant 4* or otherwise.

The breakfast was excellent with a wide range to select from, polite staff and good service. Very disappointed with the thermal suite which was one of the primary reasons for selecting this hotel. Out of the four promised spa treatments we were only able to use all four on the first night, first the steam spa broke down, then the aromatherapy spa the next night, the next night neither of those had been mended and one of the saunas wasn`t working correctly. For the rest of our holiday we had only one of the promised saunas which tended to get a little crowded. Also, the lift was out of commission a couple of times.

Stayed in this hotel as part of a wedding party, the food and service could not be faulted, the room was large and comfortable apart from the double bed being on the small side. We found that the bar prices were very expensive not only the spirit price but also £3 for a coke was outrageous.

very comfortable room, clean and well maintained.Sea view rooms provide picture card seascapes.Staff in bar and dining room very attentive. Lift was not functioning for 5 of our 6 days visit.Quality of breakfast started well and went progressively downhill to finally become mediocre. We stayed until Saturday and noticed that the emphasis on service we received fell away Friday due to wedding on friday afternoon.for example our room had not been serviced by 5pm that day.I assume that due to the influx of guests for the wedding that breakfast on Saturday morning was served as buffet style not immediately available and lukewarm.I would only recommend hotel up to Thursday if weddings was imminent on Friday or Saturday

I visited the hotel for a short break with my mother. We found the staff to be attentive and helpful st all times, including reception, chambermaids and dining room. I used the gym, pool and really enjoyed the spa especially the outdoor part. I do intend to return to the hotel in the future. Unfortunately the lift was out of action for the whole of our stay. Staff were most apologetic but it did concern us as my mother is elderly and has a heart condition. As we were on the first floor she managed but could not have coped otherwise. If returning next summer I would wish to know that the lift would be functional before I booked. A four star hotel should have had this repaired before the summer season or made it clear before guests arrived.
