Nice hotel and good value for money. Breakfast was excellent. Only minus that spa treatments weren't available and jacuzzi and sauna was out of action. Would happily stay there again.

All the staff we delt with were extremly helpful. The room we were given was clean with all the facilities as you would expect. However I feel the room could probably do with refurbishing/updatin very shortly. Both the carpet and curtains were well worn.

It is comfortable in every way, eary to relax there and all the staff are very friendly. The bathrooms need updating. As a "mature couple" we prefer to shower since it is becoming increasingly difficult, even unsafe, to climb in and out of a bath. Having a shower over the bath is not ideal particularly if (as it did) the water temperature changes and one has to bend and reach under the water flow to operate the controls.

A surprising find. Not many hotels get everything right but this one did. The staff were great, the room was comfy, the leisure facilities were good........ The list goes on. I'll stay here again.

Its closer to us, the bed was soo soft and comfortable. We were able to relax well and the purpose of the holiday was met. Only on catering side, needs a bit of improvements. Adding little bit of salt changes food taste. On our last day the brakefast was realy good with nice tasty.

Warm and friendly and were able to use room before 2pm as the wedding we attended was at 2pm at Layer Marney Hotel so big thumbs up for being able to change after travelling a few hours. There were no biscuits to nibble on while we had coffee in the room.

Breakfast, gym, swimming pool, but the gym could be bigger. Also, the bedrooms were slightly bigger. The internet connection was somehow problematic.

The room and the staff - very helpful Cost of the food - a breakfast for £10 was greedy when one mile down the road the Toby Inn did a far better selection for just over £5

Very friendly helpful staff, large rooms, good shower. Well presented hotel. The tea in the rooms tasted odd but this was a very minor issue.

For someone with a disability this was not a suitable hotel ~ I made over 4 room service calls ~ none of which were answered during the nights stay. Hotel staffs focus was mainly on functions being catered for. However when checking out I expressed my concerns to General Manager who appeared concerned that night staff were not reaching service standards ~ he tried to address on the spot with member of staff who was on duty that night who with a unprofessional attitude tried to deny all knowledge which clearly irritated the Manager. I believe I was grossly under estimated as I have over 25 years in retail banking as a Bank Manager so am extremely service concious. Thus iI booked out instead of extending my stay ~ booking a further 4 nites in the Crown Five Lakes worthy of their 4 star rating.

I was very pleased with the hotel but the slime and grime in the gym area and swimming pool was appalling. I'm sure Aggy would have had it closed down. Jacuzzi was out of order for several days. Sauna which has seen better days was also out of order for a few days. The swimming pool walls and floor was slimy and the grime thick on the walls. It needs to be renovated and refurbished.

The staff were friendly, and the bed was very comfortable. The breakfast was awful - so-called scrambled eggs that were seemingly re-constituted - coffee and tea served from jugs - at £84 per night not what is expected.

Good bath, nice breakfast (though faily overpriced at nearly 15pound) good staff generally and a good bar and nicely decorated with a good carpark which was conveniant Felt very old and a bit worn out, the pool was not usable as it was full of todddlers most of the day and the gym such as it was was disapointing. The menu I was given to order breakfast had coffee stains and was torn which was a bit strange and the tv was stuck in the courner of the room and was quite small and could not be adjusted to make it easier to see

“Staff at the hotel were great fun to talk to along with professional service. Made my little holiday break perfect along with my partner. Done some research in colchester to find that this hotel is great and the other hotel i was going to choose has very bad opinions. Facilities are also great along with the location of the hotel.” Marcus, Lowestoft |
