Friendly staff, very helpful when the next morning our car was completely frozen over and we had to catch the ferry from Harwich! One member of the staff lent us his de-icer.
Nothing springs to mind.
Rooms are well equipped if slightly dated. Facilities are good and breakfast offers a good choice.
Food quite pricey for typical hotel menu.
We had booked a superior room traveled from Oman and on arrival found that our room was not available and were given a standard room and had to change the following day. Coffee was extra charge
Breakfast and staff were very good.
As a Best Western cardholder I expect to be offered a upgrade, no offer was made' a request for late checkout was accepted by reception but on return from breakfast room was being cleaned and bag had been moved to cleaners room!
The location is perfect for us to visit our family and grand sons in Colchester. The staff, food and bedrooms are first class and would not hesitate to recommend the hotel to others.
We like the ambience, the setting, the very super staff who directed us to the perfect Indian reswtaurant and also to sinewhere where I could buy the essential forggoten garment in a hurry (thank you so much, Kirsty!). An enjoyable stay
My husband thought the corridor was a bit smelly. I didn't like the bath plumbing arrangement - took two kind ladies to sort out running a bath without the shower also turning on! Everything else - great!
Décor is a little dated now.
Plenty of parking, just off main road Breakfast good.
WiFi very slow Bathroom Toilet roll holder broken Bar not a great selection
The staff are really helpful, the swimming pool is a great place to unwind.
Smell in the room
Location and cleanliness
This time staff not as helpful as previously
Hotel staff very friendly, room was comfortable enough.
Would have liked a bigger room, as a dog owner I would have liked a pet friendly Hotel, my dog had to sleep in the car.
Very nice hotel. WiFi was fast and stable.
Too busy hotel. But this us the purpose of each hotel, so ok. I slept well, without any problem.
We stayed one night to attend a work Christmas party and it was very pleasant. There was a great party atmosphere, with a welcome host and a glass of bubbly and the food was really nice and well cooked. The room was very clean and comfortable and relatively spacious and quiet (although we could hear the A12 drone). All staff we encountered were very friendly, polite and helpful. We had no time to try the spa, unfortunately and slept through breakfast.
They played a loop of Christmas songs in the corridor right outside our room, which although very festive, we could have lived without. Especially when trying for an afternoon nap. Proximity noise from A12 .
To me everything was excellent. The staff, the food, the facilities Imean everything.
Nothing as everything was brilliant
Loved the food and the rooms.. great value for money
Loved it all
Lovely friendly staff, clean and good location. Stayed for the weekend and we thoroughly enjoyed our rest so much we booked up again.
Wi-Fi was poor quality
Stayed here in the summer and was impressed then so rebooked having to make an unexpected visit to Essex. Rooms are v good and hotel is nicely decorated and furnished. Don't be put off by the exterior!
This visit - loud Xmas music during breakfast - not yet Dec - not good
Love this hotels location near to the A12 Junction but not too noisy. Nice atmosphere in the bar area, room service not over priced. All round good value for a nice room in a nice hotel close to Colchester
Wellcome at resception
restaurant not available. Cleanliness of room and carpeting not very good. Long wait for bar food Friday lunch time while waiting for room to be ready.
I liked the hotel because it had all the facilities we needed, ie our daughter booked later than we did and was given an adjoining room with access to ours. The staff were friendly and helpful, particularly in sorting out our complicated payments
Receptionist extremely helpful.
Threadbare carpets at reception and in bedroom. Dated and stained furniture in bedrooms. Bath with curved base so slippy when showering. Dreadful quality lamb cutlets on dinner menu looked like something from Iceland. I now know why they were called ' herb crusted' - they were all bone, fat and grey meat'. Bar area not clean and no draught beer.
The room was not as big as the photo looked. The room was set up for single not couple as booked.there was a lot of low dust.aircon did not work.all this we paid extra for.
Made us very welcome. My child had just entered a gymnastic comp and won some major trophies and he went out of his way to congratulate, her made her feel very proud.
