In a quiet part of East Cliff, this clean, friendly hotel is just a short walk from Bournemouth's beaches and town center. It has spacious rooms, a restaurant, a vibrant bar and free parking.

Opened on Queen Victoria's coronation day in June 1838, the Royal Bath Hotel was the first hotel in Bournemouth. It features 3 hotel restaurants, a health spa and lovely sea views.

nice room location and price friendly staff.
Room clean and comfortable.
Television positioned to side of bed . Not comfortable to watch. Fellow guest complained about tv reception. Wifi a joke ,fellow guests confirmed.
The Mayfair hotel is in a great location, the receptionist was great - really nice and friendly. The bed was excellent, no noise from next door or other hotel guests.
Wifi wasn't great.
Size of rooms Should be good in the summer
Freezing cold, first room didn't have heating on that floor then i was moved downstairs and that room was just as cold (I was given an extra blanket and heater) Hotel doesnt have double glazing and the heating struggles. I was told it's a listed building and hence the double blazing issue couldn't be resolved.
Location Staff where helpful
Bed so uncomfortable No bar service Wifi is useless
breakfast staff location
handing in the keys
When checking in was not told where anything was or even the fact that a lift existed as we were on the top floor. Despite a request at booking we asked to be located away from the noise of the function room we realised very quickly when we went to bed that we had been put straight above it and it was too noisy to sleep until the early hours of the morning. Then when we though we had a chance of sleeping we discovered we had a fire door straight outside our room door that kept slamming shut for anothe hour or 2 following the music and singing stopping. So after next to no sleep we checked out and went home, even though we had paid for 2 nights. On checking out we got a grunt when handing in the key and nothing else said. Not even a "was everything alright with your stay" or have a pleasant journey. So my recommendation to anyone staying here is don't get room 35 and don't expect any courtesy from the reception staff
If I have to say anything positive about the place, I would probably have to say that the location was somewhat ok. It wasn't far off the main shopping area and the beach.
- General first impression of the hotel: a retirement home form the 1970'. But that would be no problem for us if it wasnt for the following. - The walls in the rooms are too thin, I could hear our neighbours conversation, as well as the TV...all night long! - No wifi in the rooms, although it is clearly pointed out in the room description that there is free wifi in all rooms. After asking the receptionst upon arrival why there is no interenet available, he kindly informed us that he would have to reboot the modem, and that in 10 minutes we would be able to go online. After 10 minutes, still no internet. Tried to call reception many times (for the reason in the next point as well), no answer. Tried to talk to them twice more, but they were too busy with new guests. Since we had a wedding to attend that day, and only returned home late, we didnt get to speak to the staff until next monirng, when we were checking out. It was pointed out to us that free wifi is only available in the lobby (nobody even mentioned that before). After repeating what other receptionist said about rebooting the modem, the more than unfriendly receptionist Andrea was quick to let us know that it is our fault that we didnt have any internet, since we should have come down AGAIN after talking to the receptionist the first time, and let him know that the reboot didnt work. Our attempts to call the reception from our room while getting ready for the wedding were ignored. Extremely unprofessional. - No hot water in the bathroom!!! We had a wedding to attend, and we were not able to take a shower, and wash our hair normally. We were not offered an alternative, but were simply sent back to our rooms, and told that we would be called back in 10 minutes to let us know when the water would be running again.
We had a nice room on the second floor at the back of the hotel. We paid the extra £7.50 for breakfast on day 1 and thought it worth doing again on the second day. The location was great for us - a few minutes walk from the slope at East Cliff where we could walk down to the promenade and a 10-15 minute walk to the town centre which we did several times. A great weekend!
It was a warm September weekend and the room was very hot at night - we had to sleep with the window wide open.
Great location Accommodating staff
Very small bathroom Very dated all over Breakfast expensive for what it was We were unlucky enough to have 2 wedding receptions one on both nights we stayed which was very loud
I loved the proximity of the hotel to Bournmouth beach and shopping areas. The bed was comfortable. The staff were very welcoming and helpful. I would book again in the future.
The room was very plain; Not even a picture on the wall. The shower was old and positioned too high without a bare to adjust the height.
Checking out at 10:30 was just to early for us, we asked if we could stay at least till 11 but the guy at the reception who promised to get back to us never did.
We stayed in a twin room at The Mayfair this August for two nights. The room was very clean and well presented. The hotel staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Hotel very close to the beach and the bus stop is right outside.
There were two downsides to our stay in that the person in the room above us for some reason got up at 5am both mornings and woke us up by walking across the room countless times for several hours and we could hear everything from that room, it was very noisy and we were very tired by the time we left! The other downside was that the ballroom/dance room was underneath our window and the music went on until midnight every night. It does state on the website there is a dance floor/ballroom so it was known but we didn't realise until what time and how loud the music would be on for. Other than the noise I can't fault it! Oh and we couldn't get any signal to connect to the wifi.
Staff were friendly, except for one who was not very gracious when trying to explain that breakfast had in fact only been booked for one night. The others were all helpful.
Rude encounter with one lady on reception and the breakfast was terrible. It said continental on the menu but all that was available was cereal, toast, yoghurt and prunes - not my idea of continental. Rooms don't come with breakfast its £7.50 extra per person - which for a 'value' hotel, I thought was very high. Coffee was cold and stale, the milk they poured in it was covered in skin and looked like it had been out since the day before). Terrible. I went to costa for the same price and a lot better food and coffee. Glad they mistakenly didn't book both days for breakfast!
The location, rooms, lounges etc Were all very good. The beds were comfortable. Water hot, shower good.
The breakfast service was a bit slow.
Location only as close to the beach.
The lift, very small, quite scary. Loads of stairs and not very clear room signs. Bits on carpet, not very clean. Radiator bar for towel too close to toilet seat, bigger person cannot fit when sitting down . checking out time too early. Breakfast time also too early.
Great location, nice rooms, breakfast was worth paying £7.50 extra for, parking, friendly helpful staff
No air conditioning in the hotel although fans were provided and windows opened
the staff were very helpful and polite and the room was adequate.
the room was very hot even though no heating on and the window didnt open enough to let air in and also when running water or flushing the toilet there was a loud banging of pipes under the floorboards which must have been very noisy to everyone else.
The hotel's location was good staff were friendly
The room was too hot and no ac plus I have stayed in better hotel for much less. The room very basic not even a fridge. Plus I think this hotel is more for oap
Its location and how quite it was, staff were very friendly as well.
I think having air conditions in the rooms will be very nice as it was very hot in the room.
Very noisy slamming doors etc. no bar staff second night. Over priced
The staff was friendly. And the room was nice and clean.
Wifi does not work on the top floor. And the room was very hot due to the hotel still having the central heating on. Plus no option to turn it off in the room. Could not open the window one night due to a wedding out the back they was very noisy so the room was very hot.
Beds were comfortable. Breakfast was lovely. All staff polite and considerate. Very close to beach and other facilities. Good quiet.
The room we had could be up dated freshen up in decor. Curtains were not good didn't close properly.
The hotel was very pleasantly decorated throughout, the staff were friendly and courteous and the food excellent.
The fact there was no porter and as I am disabled I could have done with one.
