The MetropoleStation Road, PL28 8DB Padstow (Show map) Very good, Score from 243 reviews“The location was ideal, right in the middle of padstow ”
Tanieth,
Cowes
Offering free parking on Padstow’s busy harbor front, the 4-star Metropole offers fantastic views of the town and Camel Estuary. There is a popular restaurant as well as bright, individually styled rooms. With a TV, work area and a private bathroom, many of the rooms also enjoy lovely views out over the water. Free tea and coffee, a hairdryer and ironing facilities are also included. The Metropole’s restaurant looks over the harbor and uses quality Cornish produce to create a daily menu. Guests can enjoy afternoon traditional afternoon teas, and the Met Café Bar provides light food. The restaurants of Padstow harbor, including those of famous chef Rick Stein, are just a short walk away. A seasonal outdoor pool is open during July and August, while the hotel also has pretty landscaped grounds for guests to relax in. Hotel Rooms: 50, Hotel Chain: Richardson Hotels.

Great location with excellent views from the public rooms. Good food. Lack of ventilation with windows in most rooms having very limited opening or being sealed shut, understandable for safety reasons but the lack of alternative ventilation in the form of ceiling fans or better still air conditioning, meant that the rooms became unbearably uncomfortable at times, especially on sunny days. The bathroom was clean and adequately equiped but is becoming dated whereas it could hve been a feature. The radiator in the bathroom is permanently on which adds to the aforementioned overheating problem in summer. This hotel has the potential to be furbished to high standards and combined with staff training improvements could move up market considerably given its location and the current exclusive reputation of Padstow and Rock.

The staff were very pleasant and efficient with good attention to detail. We felt very 'at home' and welcome. Our showeroom (room 2) could do with a handyman with a silicone gun to seal up the unsightly cracks.

The heating had broken down, so my experience was most unpleasant. Because I had to leave so early in the morning I had to pay in full on arrival. There should be better facilities for those wishing to check out early - and I should have been given warning that the heating wasn't working or at least given a discount or compensation A warm room ! A newspaper early enough to read before having to leave and the oportunity to check out and pay on departure day, even if it is early.

The location is hard to beat in Padstow. In season the car park struggles to cope but in winter it's fine. Just round the corner from Rick Stein's At £59 including breakfast it's a great deal. I'll be back Parts of the room were tatty and the TV dated. TV reception poor and remote didn't work.

Small touches in the room - binoculars, for example. Viewe from room. Ambience: quiet, calm atmosphere whilst having 'informnal grandness'. Good breakfast selection. Comfortable public rooms. My stay was short. Staff were hospitable at all times. Still concerned that the extractor fan in toilet was not working, though having mentioned it at reception wqs told that it was a silent fan.

Very comfortable and welcoming. A bit frayed around the edges (wellworn) in places. Good food but poor tea bags except breakfast tea which was Twinings and a great improvement on afternoon tea and tea bags in room - cheap taste. Television in room 15 poor picture, almost unusable. TV's need updating to small flat screen, take up less room too.

We were given a warm and friendly welcome. The hotel echoes the victorian splendour of the era in which it was built but was warm and comfortable. There are wonderfull views of Padstow and the estuary particularly from the dining room where we were served a sumptious breakfast! It was only 5 minutes walk into the village centre.

I booked from Australia via Internet so I had little idea of the hotel except the price was acceptable, location good and it appeared to be of a good standard. On arrival we were pleasantly pleased with the traditional manor style of building and fittings. The staff were all very friendly and helpful and the breakfast was brilliant. We really enjoyed our very brief stay at the Metropole and would have stayed longer if time permitted.

Friendly atmosphere, lovely views of Camel Estuary. Food very good, service excellent. Car park needs extending even if it means losing part of the lawn, with so many people having large cars or 4x4's spaces are very tight.
