The hotel has an elegance from bygone days. Our room was quirky and different from run-of-the-mill rooms in modern hotels. We loved the boudoir decor and furnishings. Breakfast was varied, hot and efficiently served. We could not get served by the waiting staff in the lounge bar on Friday evening. It was not busy. After 15 minutes of being told 'Someone will be along to take your order', we walked out and went to the Radisson bar down the street. |

Location. Interior Decor. Room Facilities. Special Offer price. Breakfast. The Concierge (tall young man, very helpful) Staff attitude - At reception and at the bar (just off the foyer) staff were 'off-hand' - and a smile now and again wouldn't go amiss. Room - a thick layer of dust on the tv table & debris inside dressing table (where mirror flips up). |

It was for my parents as a gift as they were visiting Manchester to watch the Strictly Come Dancing Show. We picked the Midland as I have stayed there myself with my wife before. My parents were very impressed with the hotel. We had the deal with the free bottle of wine in the room which was red wine. We asked for it to be changed to white wine and it was done quickly with no fuss and no problem. They also commented that breakfast was fantastic - that good even my mother had it - which is a first!! |

Good city centre location, very friendly and helpful staff, good breakfast food, generally nice room (547) which was quiet (inside facing), overall price was reasonable, but there were several negatives and I'm not sure that the hotel merits a 4 star rating - see below. It wasn't made clear that dinner would be on the terrace or, particularly, from a very limited pre theatre menu. Having paid for an included dinner, I expected to have a much broader choice. The quality of some of the room fittings was poor, and definitely not 4 star standard. In particular, the shower was not thermostatic so temperature went from hot to cool and back rapidly, and taps / wastes were awkward to operate and prone to malfunction. Facilities in the spa were outdated and very poor, especially the jacuzzi which didn't work, and separate sauna's spoiled family enjoyment. The overall impression was of a hotel with lots of "top show" but lacking true quality. This should not be difficult to achieve with such a fabulous building. |

Hotel was fantastic. There was a great atmosphere from customers and staff. The hotel is spotless and well maintained with all staff members knowing exactly what there jobs are. The hotel is located right in the city centre, ideal for shopping and city night life. Also it was the best value for money around as I had searched the internet for a 4 star city centre hotel. £200 for 2 nights accommodation inc breakfast, great! My only flaw would be that the hotel is a little old fashioned in terms of decor. |

The reception staff were helpful and friendly The staff in the dinning area were useless, especially the staff at breakfast who were slow, sluggish and dis-interested... They let the hotel and other staff down |

Nice big room, good gym, comfortable bed Breakfast was not as good as expected. Maybe due to conference. Internet could be free for the entire stay for such nice and rather expensive hotel. |

I enjoyed the breakfast which was extremely good and also the rooms were very comfortable. There was a Wedding at the Hotel during our stay and when we got back from an evening out, we could not get a seat in the bar so we had to go to another Hotel down the street which was extremely inconvenient as we were looking forward to relaxing with a drink. So in my opinion when there is a wedding booked they should have better facilities for the other guests staying at the Hotel and not just cater for the wedding guests. |

The friendly staff. All were smiling, helpful and cheerful Large queue for breakfast on the Sunday morning spoiled the ambience and feel that we were in a really good hotel. Maid woke us up coming into our room at 8.30 on the Saturday morning. Subsequently our room was not serviced until late in the afternoon. |
