Score from 770 reviews Very good
Location excellent handy for trams and buses, walking distance for shops. Will definitely return to this hotel on our next visit
I would have liked free breakfast with the room at this price.
Mr Coopers restaurant food excellent.
Breakfast very poor - luke warm, bland and way overpriced.
The staff were very friendly and helpful. The standard of service was old school and second to none. The hotel ambience is very pleasant and my room was clean, roomy and comfortable. I will use the hotel again if I can get as equally a good deal again.
The SMART TV was not easy to operate and the light switch for the lamp on the window side of the bed was broken. The heating/air con is noisy.
We love to stay at the midland, we go every year but this time we felt we had been put in a small & scruffy room. The lamp was broken and there was no batteries in the TV remote and we had to phone 5 times for a bucket of ice to be brought to the room. It is an expensive hotel to stay in that we treat ourselves to once a year but this time we were very disappointed and dispite complaining we have still not heard from back from them.
Location is excellent
Loves everything about this hotel, beautiful place
Location in city centre, room - very comfortable and clean
Internet - connectivity and speed are appalling (same the previous week in a different room). Some maintenance issues starting to appear in bathrooms - looking a little tired in places. Also, windows screwed shut (for safety reasons) but not actually fully closed, so you can hear rain dripping outside, and extractor fans - and you can't shut the window (room 509)!
Very good hotel, staff efficient & very helpful. Hotel was central to all places we needed to go to.Would stay again & highly recommend it.
Location, history, character
Disorganised reservation staff, being asked to pay cash for breakfast, not ensuring previous arrangements are in place.
The room was very nice and reception booking staff very efficient.
service in the reception bar not good. groups of waiter/waitresses chatting to each other, nearly gave up on the idea of a drink.
Nice hotel, friendly staff, good location.
For £500 a night I'd of expected breakfast to be included. Some furnishings are in need of repair. Housekeeping needs to be 24 hours for an establishment like this.
Had a fabulous time with son and daughter in law. Close to shops and Christmas markets. Our room was lovely and bed very comfortable. Definitely be going back again
A great hotel in a good location for the christmas market and china town. Concierge was excellent in taking care of the car.
We waited 20 mins to be served in the bar area, when our order was taken for drinks we then waited a further 15 mins for the drinks to arrive. If we had been in a bar we would have been on the second round!! Very slow bar service.
Fabulous building, great staff. Location.
Continental breakfast very poor considering the class of hotel. Festive afternoon tea was nothing special. We were very dissapointed.
Friendliness and service from the staff. We received a complementary drink each when the staff realised it was my wife's birthday.
Friendly and helpful staff.
Rooms are a little bit dated.
The room was very comfortable. The bathroom was well-equipped. The room was very quiet (5th floor)
WiFi seemed very slow, and not that easy to access. The bathroom was starting to show signs of wear and tear
The staff were extremely attentive.
Hairdryer cable too short to use with any mirror situated in the room. Own shampoo removed from bathroom and newspaper removed from table whilst still in occupation of the room.
The staff and their friendly manner. The room and facilites. The old world style of the building. The location. The breakfast.
The automatic billing system in the fridge. We tried to cool our own water and almost got charged for moving the pre installed drinks. A minor affair and the staff didn't make a fuss or charge us, but a little irratating.
The staff had left a birthday message and cake in our room which was such a lovely touch! They also gave us a drink at the bar and all very proffessional.
No top up on water in room
Location and ambiance at Christmas period
Cost, too expensive this time.
The bed was fab, location was great, great value for a city centre location with character.
Breakfast staff seemed a little overwhelmed and attracting the attention of the staff at the residents bar was sometimes quite difficult
Location, reception area and appearance of the outside lovely
The price of the hotel for a room that was the same quality as a premier inn, nothing superior about the room, we had a king bed but I didn't find it that comfortable. No breakfast included for £180 shocking!
