This hotel is in an incredibly vibrant location full of trendy bars and coffee shops for the morning after.
Friendly staff. Fantastic foyer
Attentive staff No fuss free wifi connection and smart TV
Room decor and furnishings dated and a little tired
Beautiful building. Spacious room, very clean and quiet. Very comfortable bed. Great location - central to many venues, including a wonderful museum.
Elevator/Lift problems. Elevators/Lifts not sized for appropriately for the hotel - always waiting for one. Check out/Front Desk personnel where not very attentive at 6am.
No ventilation in room, hair clip on bathroom floor, bed lumpy, duvet see through when held to light not what we expected from a big brand (and price) such as The Midland. When staff at checkout were informed the response was 'I'll let housekeeping know'
Lovely hotel, continental breakfast was really nice plenty to choose from and even offered boiled eggs.Would stay here again
lovely leisure facilities but needs better lighting in pool it was abit gloomy
Hotel felt right and homely, yet stately enough. Well equipped and comfortable rooms, at least the two top floor rooms for us. Convenient for walking to city and the universities precinct, as well as trams line and train station. Good pianist, albeit not daily.
The current road work at the main entrance, which hopefully when complete would further enhance the beautiful façade. Restaurants were full at dinnertime.
Very uncomfortable bed. Wifi in room kept cutting out. Halls & lift far too hot
Staff really pleasant and helpful
Only problem with stay was No TV signal throughout my stay! Smart TV not so smart!!!
great location, classy
The bar, staff, restaurant and superior room.
Breakfast. It used to be poor, but this time it was worse then any time. Had prepaid for kontinental breakfast which was the poorest I have ever seen. Salami, bread and fruit, thats it. They wanted 10 pounds extra for bacon and egg. That means 20 pound for the breakfast. Walk over the street and you will get full english breakfast for 3.95. Sad but true.
The hotel was of a high standard, with most of the staff very helpful, from arriving until leaving.
One particular member of staff in the breakfast room, was no it as tenative as the other members of staff, she was clearing the tables and pointed to my husbands plate, and asked is this finished with, without a smile or friendly manner, which was not the standard i would expect from a member of this high class hotel.
Old school glamour with exvellent service. Great lobby bar for coffee.
Elizabeth and Velmer breakfast staff in Wyven room great. Smart TV and sofa in room.
Road works outside hotel, but being bank holiday weekend did not both us
The whole place is lovely, the staff are friendly.
We paid for 2 nights 1 full price and 1 discount price. We arranged to stay in the same room for the two nights because we had booked them separately but when we checked in the receptionist only had us down for one night (discounted) when we went back to correct the error she left us in the discounted room for both nights which was small and the ceiling wallpaper was coming down. In comparison to other guests rooms from the wedding we attended this was clearly a budget room which we found unacceptable.
great staff one of the best hotels i have stayed in
Big rooms and bed
decor of hotel and location, nice and quiet and good breakfast
beds too soft
Location is very central and a great nights sleep was had by all especially considering its location. The staff were happy and engaging and went out of their way to help. The room was very spacious and really clean.
Loud pounding music could be heard on Saturday night Beds and pillows were lumpy
The hotel is a Victorian beauty the rooms & interior are modern enough without losing the original spender. Reception staff are so friendly. Beds are beyond comfy. Highly recommended
Door staff when entering the hotel late was short & not friendly asking for my room card...
Super fast free wifi. Inclusive tasty continental breakfast, and when upgraded amazing hot brekkie. Comfortable beds, beautiful rooms.
Breakfast tea was awful and no replacement offered. Restaurant choice of food wasn't great. Some of plugs in room were coming off walls
Location close enough to everything but far enough away from any mayhem
Not the hotels fault, but hotel surrounded by lots of road works (at present)
