I would like to see some re-investment in updating the whole place. It is tired and grubby. The bathroom has cracked tiles, basin etc.
It was close for the purpose of my visit
April 21, 2015
The waste bin had dirty tissues in and the loo seat had wee stains.
Location to major road networks and the fact we could eat on site. The pub grub was excellent value for money.
April 16, 2015
The place was very tired, in dire need of investment. The bathroom ceramics were chipped, there was peeling paint, there were holes in the wall that need plastering, windows need re-puttying etc
The staff were extremely friendly and helpful.

Breakfast was poor. Sausage was like rubber, obviously been kept warm for some time. Bacon dry and salty. Ended up with toast and marmalade Room was dated. Woodchip on the ceilings. Peeling off in bathroom. Bath was also dirty on arrival Window latch on room 6 (ground floor) was broken on the bathroom
Location is nice. Right on a river, good beer garden

Unsecured rooms the bathroom window would not stay closed, no soap, sewage overflowing from cover in carpark next to the rooms, waiting in the check in despite ringing bell it took a long time before we was noticed, dirty cutlery, unable to get the wifi in the room very poor signal if any, no disabled parking at the hotel near the rooms, parking only by the restaurant some distance from the rooms so I had to struggle getting in/out of my car close to the rooms,

March 17, 2015
Bathroom-paper peeling from ceiling, toilet condition below water and around rim APPALLING, no buffers on toilet seat, plaster flaking/pitting,door would NOT shut(coat hanger fell off, chrome looked as though a thorough clean needed Bedroom- cobwebs in app 30/40% ,net curtains could do with wash, net curtain fittings falling away each end, window frames black (meant to be white),no light at dressing table,NO emergency notice on display on door( although was found between piece of paper and cardboard), room dull and uninviting. Although cheap .. cheapness is not and can never be an excuse for poor housekeeping, maintenance & management
friendly, courteous reception on booking in, able to park almost at door to accomodation

The room was appalling. Mouldy window frames; badly painted throughout; chipped and scratched basin and loo pan; hairs in the plug hole; paper coming away from bathroom ceiling.
Reasonably cheap, with good food on site. Staff were friendly and helpful. The shower was good.

Cleanliness very poor. This hotel is in need of a major revamp.
The staff and the restaurant
February 24, 2015
Can not believe the state of the room , mould all over window frames , toilet very badly stained , not one single wall hasn't got a stain on it , hole in the bathroom door , lightbulbs missing .and the room smelled of urine the moment you walked in
February 23, 2015
Rooms stank of smoke even though meant to be no smoking! The main bedroom area was ok but the bathroom was very worn and tired with peeling paint and cracked sink. Staff were pleasant when they finally attended the unmanned reception desk which was quite frustrating as the staff seemed very busy in the pub/ restaurant the hotel part seems a bit of an afterthought.
The location is great with plenty of parking,And ideal to meet with people in the adjoining pub.

Room was not cleaned. Breakfast finished at 9.00am on the Sunday!!!!
January 27, 2015
Only 1 heater worked so cold in room, dirty bathroom
Food was good apart from breakfast which was awful
January 20, 2015
The decor was unacceptable with mold everywhere in the bathroom and cobwebs in the bedroom. The toilet and sink were disgusting with most of the enamel peeling. The windows had mold from condensation. There was no bulb in dressing table mirror. The room wasn't expensive but neither is the cost of cleanliness. I definitely won't stay there again.
The only positive comments I can give is that the bed was very comfortable and the room was warm.
January 11, 2015
Room cleanliness was poor.
The location for my needs was good. Dining available. Spacious.
December 18, 2014
Room fittings looked old & shabby - door let in the drafts & the door / windows let in a lot of traffic noise
Good location, facilities, nice staff, clean bedding
December 14, 2014
Cold room, lights kept going off because of timer.
December 4, 2014
problems booking online, not registered at the hotel. rooms, although clean & comfortable needed to be smartened up
meals good rooms comfortable staff welcoming
December 2, 2014
Disappointed. It cost fifty pounds. Terrible. Wifi didn't work. Room ok. Bathroom basic and run down. No mats, no soap. Horrible. Grotty.
The free biscuits in the room.

Bathrooms are becoming a problem - they really need refurbishing. The washbasin and loo in my room had been 're-enamelled' but it hadn't worked and was severely chipped. Time to refit these bathrooms before people are put off booking. Losing the background music in the pub, evening and breakfast would get my vote as an improvement - but just an opinion!
Staff were excellent as usual. Large, comfortable pub has a good atmosphere, with decent food and good real ales. Good place to stopover for a solo traveller or a family.
