My fourth visit......lovely room once again, pleasant, helpful staff, great breakfast.
Beautiful hotel, comfortable rooms, friendly staff, excellent breakfast. Our room was quiet despite the live music. Staff sorted out problem in room very quickly.
Residents not being able to sit in the reception area in the evening. This could very easily be made a residents only bar in the evening. The music was unbelievably loud in the public bar - we would have liked somewhere quiet to sit with our friend.
Difficult to find, rude staff, vagrants fighting at the front door, parking facility across town and in a not-so-very-nice location. Quite a hike with luggage, or without. Would not recommend.
The building itself - old, historic and very charming. With a nice courtyard, pub, cafe and a restaurant. Brilliant location - close to everywhere. Clean bathroom, towels and crisp-clean duvet plus very comfy bed!
The rooms' interior a bit dated, but hey, what do you expect from a 15th century Inn? It has to be old, that's it's charm.
Friendly atmosphere. Clean and tidy. Good sized room and en-suite. Central location and good quality bars and restaurants on site.
No on site parking or access to drop bags off. Wi Fi doesn't work in bedrooms.
Friendly, helpful staff. Clean, spacious, comfortable room. Different atmosphere to a "chain" hotel.
Breakfast..Lumpy bed..Broken hair dryer..loads of fluff in radiator..Stains on ceiling..In dire need of refurb.. Although the bed was new it was however a very cheap one.
hotel and staff and the cathedral
Gloucester itself was a let down, not a place I would visit twice. Did not feel safe enough to go out at night, and no restuarants around so had to eat at the hotel.
City centre location, good atmosphere, enjoyed hearty breakfast, especially on Monday.
Car parking arrangements & drop off zone details could have been better. Not offered discount pass for first night's parking so cost more than expected. Toasting bread in queue not good as food going cold and other people pushing in.
Stayed in the Oak Suite with a four poster. Lots of up and down floors and heavy oak beams. Great atmosphere. Good pub food, dinner and breakfast. Reasonable prices. Right in the centre of Gloucester.
The wifi connected fine. Lots of coverage with 6 different routers. But not one of them would connect to the internet. Parking is pay and display. £12 = 24 hours, and a good 5-10 minute walk.
the free upgrade to a better room the amazing breakfast
The location in the center of town. Good value for money. Good breakfast. Helpful staff. Would stay here again!!
Close to town Nice courtyard
Breakfast ends at 9:30am on a weekend Shower was cold Room was noisy overnight Hotel was 'tired'
nice building, staffs were friendly
It's not cleaned the shower room. The shampoo which ex-guest used left there, also the hair. Flies were in the room.(something which looked like packed fish was on the dub-avoid-net out of the window)
A great hotel, full of character and just what you'd expect from a building so old. I loved the fact that my room was slightly downhill!!! A superb place, very central and great value for money.
Bed was comfy enough for the one night. Reception staff friendly enough on arrival/departure.
Where to start... (1) Electric sockets on the walls not secured properly. (2) Hairdryer fixed to wall in bathroom - first of all not PAT tested since August 2013 and secondly the flexible wire broken at both the handset and box ends therefore wouldn't work efficiently. To try and hold any connecting bits together almost burned hands. (3) Awful smell from drains in bathroom at times. (4) No hot water in the morning. (4) Door leading to hotel rooms from main courtyard does not lock and not secure. (5) If arriving early (as I did), their "left luggage" facility is between two sets of doors that people can walk between so it is not completely safe (although they do have the disclaimer that it is left at your own risk). (6) Heating did not seem to work either in room or heated towel rail, even though power light on towel rail was on. Would not recommend to any solo travellers, male or female, or in fact to anyone. I took pictures of the faults mentioned in this review and if I could post those on here, I would. No I didn't report these issues to the hotel as after I had booked into my room I had to get ready to go out to the event I was in Gloucester for - and with a faulty hairdryer I was already pushed for time - and I was leaving early on the Sunday morning (before their breakfast serving time of 8am), although I left earlier than ever as I couldn't stand to be in the place any longer than necessary. It is no wonder they want you to pay on arrival, as they would struggle to get full money out of anyone if room 103 is the standard of the rest of the hotel. Awful stay.
the 700 year old building was in excellent condition. was easy to imagine coaches stopping out front and weary travellers booking in for a stay.
our GPS took us to a side entrance which was part of an industrial site with a notice saying, cars will be wheel clamped and towed away.
The hotel set in the town centre is ideal to explore the towns night life the docks and shopping
No on site parking it's about 8 minutes walk from the car park. Not a issue if your mobile and the weather is good.
Liked everyhing. The old builing wih its history. The suite. The rooms. The steps. The restaurant. The food. Magnificent! :)
loved our room the oak suite lots of character uneven floors and wobbly wardrobes added to character with it being 15th cent inn would have been disappointed if it did not have these features. Bonus that we got token for car park a short distance away and it cost 3.50 for 24 hrs. Breakfast good and the booking price was very good value, despite late bar and music etc we were not kept a wake but we were advised of this when checking in and it is also on their website.
There was nothing to complain about really no car park concerned us initially until we found out about the token. Read the reviews before our night there felt most of them unfair. Excellent check in by the gentleman on duty and we were given lots of information the only thing to comment on was there was young bar staff on late in the evening who were not over friendly and didn't have a lot of knowledge on the wines and ales but other than that no reason to moan
The overall character of the Inn, it's rugged charm, its location and facilities were all very nice. The staff were exceptionally friendly. This is my second stay since July, and I/we will not hesitate to return.
Fantastic old building Good breakfast Central location
Parking arrangements Late night music Courtyard very scruffy in the morning after late night drinking
Right in the centre of town ,,16th century inn with quirky rooms ,, great breakfast buffet
Very hard mattress
Bed uncomfatable .room116 room was not cleaned properly .decor bad bathroom floor disgusting .no chain on plug in bath .mattress needs replacing .poor poor
