staff were very helpfull and friendly, great place to shop as its slap bang in the centre of Gloucester, food was nice prices were what you would expect to pay for,was a little concerned that being its a pub/restruant it would be a bit noisy but infact for a very light sleeper i slept like a baby. the only down side for me and its only a small one was all the steep steps i had to climb to get to my room so would strongly advise you check with hotel before you book if that would be a problem for you.also the waitress had to do a receptionists job and book me in you did a great job thanks!

Staff were very pleasant and helpful Very difficult to find Hotel and car park. Food in the restaurant was disgusting, breakfast was just passable. We had booked two nights, but preferred to go home rather than face another 'restaurant' meal

The room we had was very comfortable & on 2 of the coldest nights so far this year it was very warm, just how we like it. The staff were friendly especially the lady who was organising the breakfast on saturday 14th jan.. The location was great as we came to see the city centre & docks We were given a menu on checking in which advertised the food as "the new inn carvery". Available on friday to 9pm. We went down to the restaurant at 8.10pm to find that the carvery had been cleared away & was not available. I asked if they were still serving food & after some debate they said yes in the bar. We went to the bar & when we asked for a menu the barman went to check if we could order? We did get a meal which under the circumstances was very nice but not what we had been looking forward to. The bar staff were also not aware of the 10% discount voucher for drinks that we presented on our booking confirmation but they did sort it out for us

The loction was great, the breakfast was good and the staff at breakfast were realy nice, The hotel has great character and could be a really nice hotel. The room was in the need of updating, the carpet was filthy and the general cleanliness of the room could have been better .The rest of the hotel could do with a spruce up and a good clean, this could be a lovely hotel with some tlc.

the courtyard, the location Staff friendly but not trained at all. Thick layer of dust on the radiator and window ledges. Windows crooked, stay ajar. Bath curtain not been cleaned. No phone in the room in case you need anything you have to come all the way downstairs, go to the restaurant and wait for a while until someone come and help. We didn't pay much but even for that you can get a clean B&B.

The hotel was wonderfully quirky and old with some wonderful architecture. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. The courtyard enchanting. The breakfast was disappointing. The tomatoes was 1/2 tin of mashed tomatoes, watery and took half of the plate.

Great to be able to stay in a property that was so historic. The courtyard was so pretty, restaurant reasonable, the breakfast was full english, the staff were extremely helpful and pleasant. Thre rooms were small but clean and met all needs. The price was ubelievable for what you got and the owner even opened the bar area early so we could watch the world cup. What a gem of a place, truly orignal.

One of the most interesting places I have stayed in. Surperb location for shopping, the Docks and the beautiful cathedral. Our room and our friends room were lovely and clean and had a lot of old charm. The main meal and breakfast at the hotel were both very good. All the Staff we spoke to were polite and very helpful. Just a shame you have to come down the back enterance to the pub from the closest car park, This gives a poor impression from the start,

The friendliness and kindnes of all the staff with whom we had dealings. Everyone did their best to accommodate our needs, quickly finding extra pillows on request etc. Everyone was working very hard but still maintained a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Possibly the menu needs updating, in order to reflect more accurately what is on offer.

Highly historic - can't believe I stayed at a place that dates back to the 1400's! Food (including breakfast) was great and staff was very helpful with my questions. Lovely room. Our room faced the main street so we had some noise at night and also when the deliveries to the shops were going on in early morning - not a huge problem. Also the steps were very narrow and steep when hauling luggage up to the room (well, it is an old place, after all).

The location was convenient to the train station and central for exploring the City. It had the added interest of being the oldest Inn in the City dating from the middle ages. If was nice to have the restaurant, pub and everything within one place, especially after arriving from a 20+ hour day of traveling.

Great old building - rooms had been recently refurbished and were roomy, clean and very comfortable. Beds comfortable. Breakfast great, plenty to choose from, service very nice and friendly. The atmosphere is this hotel is the best we have had so far from the minute you walk into the courtyard, character plus!! We paid 60 pound with breakfast included and this was good value. Would definitely stay here again. No on site parking but is a parking station right next door so you can drop off bags at the back of the hotel and go straight into the parking station. Hotel pays for some of the parking but it is not expensive.

Fabulous building, wow factor when you walk into the courtyard. There's not a right angle in sight. Good breakfast was included. We ate at the hotel in the evening, and it was very good too. The rooms themselves are a bit tired.

“We were very happy with our choice of this hotel. It is in a fairly quiet area, but an easy walk to Cheltenham town center (less than a mile) and the main bus stop (about a mile). The rooms were very clean and the owners were just wonderful. Friendly and helpful, as was the rest of the staff. They made us feel welcome and at home. We were served hot breakfast each morning. There is a restaurant with both a pub menu and formal menu (and full bar) - the options are varied and the food was fabulous. We had our 4 year old with us and they were great in accommodating special food requests for her. She begged to eat dinner there every night. Our family suite actually had a separate room for her, which was a nice surprise. We were there two weeks and had a great experience. ” Mikal, Jacksonville |
