Excellent value for money booked an executive room, large and very comfortable. Friendly, helpful, courteous staff who go out of their way to make sure your needs are met. Great quality food.
Comfortable bed in a good sized room with hair dryer and decent shower. Adjustable radiators, room service, lounge and restaurant meals available. A good breakfast with continental and cooked, and a vegetarian option.
One side of my corner room was illuminated by bright floodlights so despite the thick curtains there was still a bright glow getting in around the curtains and illuminating the room throughout the night. Hence I didn't sleep very well. Bring an eye mask or request a room on a different side of the building.
The staff, and the location.
Staff are very friendly and helpful
Breakfast could do with upgrading
All good thanks
comfortable and quiet
Staff were great nice friendly atmosphere
We were put in room 5 right next to kitchen had a poor nights sleep and woke early in morning with all the banging and clattering on
The staff were extremely friendly
Had to travel to the spa
Breakfast, excellent. Comfortable room, clean and well equipped.Powerful shower, big towels, good shaving mirror. Friendly, helpful staff. Good central location
Room a bit noisy, but it's a Listed Building so single glazed windows. I used ear plugs so no problem sleeping. Hotel is a bit difficult to get to, you can see it but can't find the right road.
We had a very relaxing and pleasant 2 nights in an hotel which was pleasing to be in. Close to the town centre. We really enjoyed the food we had, especially a steak we had which was cooked exactly as we ordered it. Whenever we are in the area again, which is fairly often, we would endeavour to stay here.
No bad experiences
Convenient for town, good food and friendly staff
Easy to arrive and get to room. Staff sorted an early breakfast.
Didn't have chance to use much of the facilities not even the WiFi.
Location, 'Rabbit Warren' layout Helpful, friendly staff Tasty Breakfast
Pillows - I'm awkward I like a feather and a polyester and I found the pillows too hard but I won't refuse to go again, I'll just take my own with me and look like a nutter.
Abi, staff member was very pleasant and helpful as was reception but most of the time we had to ask for service in the restaurant
bathroom had no shelf to leave make-up /perfume etc but room was generally very good. Hotel was like a rabbit warren and toilets on ground floor were difficult to find
Friendly staff members and good quality food.
Too hot in the room. Did not see any temperature control knob/switch. Single water taps in the toilet/bath room. Hot water coming out was burning hot and there was no warning sign placed.
Staff were friendly.
Promised packed breakfast for early morning start did not materialise - despite detailed conversation with receptionist when checking in. This was quite unsettling as I had longs day and much travelling ahead of me.
Location close to shops was excellent. Public areas looked nice A very comfy bed and we didn't get woken up by any noisy neighbouring rooms. Powerfull shower was excellent.
Our room was poorly finished in many areas window couldn't lock no ends on the curtain pole and many repairs in the bathroom not finished off very well our room needed updating - room 31
Stunning building and décor. Excellent helpful and friendly staff.
Disappointed with the temperature of the breakfast which was a shame as the products were of good quality.
stayed here for a wedding main areas of the hotel are nice but it is showing signs of wear and tear. Our room downstairs very small, needs updating but does the job, hence time for a spruce up
Price vs quality of rooms
Shower was great, staff very friendly.
Shabby decor, slightly tired facilities.
Location, Bed, Staff.
Condition of executive room, Old and need upgrading on safety and condition. Read my other two reports. Bar and car park too small for guests and function people.
Service from staff outstanding
Beds and rooms needed bringing into 21st century and not a reflection on staff
Staff and location
Noise from the room next door during the night
Good location near town centre with shops around, late check out when asked, helped us when we wanted to stay another night let us stay in same room
Reception staff were a bit stuck Up tried to have a laugh and she just made you feel like an idiot, quite uncomfortable
I love this hotel from the minute you pull up in the car park the building is steeped in history. What really makes this place for me is the attentive staff! They are all so lovely (even at 8am in Christmas morning). They go out of their way to help you with anything. Inside the hotel has luxury furnishing and fittings. Breakfast is great in the morning. There is not a bad word to say about this hotel.
It's not a dislike it's more of a "would like". It would be great if the hotel could assign one or two rooms on the ground floor at special times of the year such as christmas so that you can bring your dog with you.
