Great welcome from Reception staff. Feedback - bedroom doors need to be locked with the key - there is a very small notice on the inside of the door which we missed, so when we went out for the evening our bedroom was unlocked and anybody could have walked in and then walked out with all our stuff. Suggested to hotel that they remind guests on arrival of this point and also put bigger notice on the door/in the bedroom to make all guests fully aware. It is a "crime" just waiting to happen as hotel bar/dining is open to non-residents so anybody can walk in off the street. The breakfast room was overcrowded with hardly any room between tabels. We felt we were sitting on a motorway - but obviously the hotel needs to maximise space!!

Did not experience an evening meal but the breakfasts were excellent and service at that time also excellent. Gardens lovely to enjoy to relax as also the lounge area. We arrived on a day of a wedding reception so the car park was cramped, but we did find a space!

Very friendly and obliging staff. I stay in many uk Hotels, and I would say that you really have a great team which create a good atmoshereIt is extreemely important for hotel staff to present a warm welcome, and in this respect they all seemed fist class. ( Please dont ignore this point when wage reviews come around Great Mirror in the resturant Food was lovely, both Breakfast and Dinner, so again well done I think that the hotel has a severe lack of good comfortable seating in the bar areas. We wanted to have a couple of drinks with another couple, but because of the wedding parties - it was impossible to sit anywhere, so ended up going outside to a pub -a loss of revenue for you guys Room 45, was incredibly hot upon arrival, and we were fortunate to get another room 40 , which was much betterI noticed some radiators still full on on the Friday we arrived when outside temps were around 23c - a waste of energy and of your profits, but worse it made your corridoors uncomfortable

The staff are very friendly and ensure your stay is of the highest standard. Nothing is too much trouble for them. The food is of excellent quality and tickles the taste buds. The rooms are decorated tastefully with plenty of room. The garden is a big attraction for my husband and I as you can sit and relax with a nice bottle of wine in the lovely sunshine. I always enjoy my stays at the Bannatyne Darlington and have constantly recommended it to friends and family. We decided to have our wedding there in May 2009 and have been back for our 1st and 2nd wedding anniversary.

Location, attractive hotel, decor Lack of things in the room eg nice toiletries, teabags no fresh juice at breakfast (just cartons) Minor things really - but the little touches are what makes a hotel nicer, more memorable, of better quality and therefore more likely to be recommended to others

Staff were extremely helpful and polite, especially the reception young lady. Food at breakfast was excellent and the location is ideal for access to the town. The use of the leisure facilities was an added bonus and influenced me in choosing this hotel over others available.

Beautiful hotel we attended a wedding close by room really warm and bed very comfy, room clean breakfast great. The only complaint was the bar prices a glass of wine and a pint of lager was near on £10 would of been an expensive night had we stayed drinking in the bar. Bar prices
