Room was comfy.
Having to walk to the annex in the cold and dark. It wasn't clear exactly where it was.
The good arrived when we asked for it.
The guy that delivered stacked one plate on top of the other so as he passed it the top plate slid off and hit the floor, smashing and distributing food all over the bedroom floor, which he made no attempt to clear up, I had to do it.
This hotel is easy to get to from both the M25 and the A10. The grounds are extensive so there are no other restaurants within walking distance but no matter because the in-house restaurant offers a wide range of good food in a modern environment.
The internal layout of the main building, which is old but beautiful, is complex so way finding is difficult.
Staff very friendly and polite and apologetic. They did what they could problem lies higher up
Room dirty and dusty. No wI-FI even though it was promised. Site is a Tescos academy. The front of the house which should be its major feature has been turned into a picnic area just stupid
no kettle in room
The venue itself is situated on large exquisite grounds, which appeared great in arrival.
The door required an old fashioned key (possibly needs upgrade). There were no glasses in the room. There was a big problem with hotel staff: they were badly short staffed due to sickness and one person quitting on the spot. Plates provided were dirty with old food and gravy stuck to the bottom of them. Quite a poor turn out from personal experience of staying there. Especially given first impression.
Location, room clean and comfortable, staff friendly and efficient
Very good bar and lounge area
Room was small and had to climb a lot of stairs to get to it.
I enjoyed the comfortable bed and clean room also room service was promt and efficient.
No mobile phone signal in ground floor room. Unable to access wifi or any connection to make or receive calls. Also lighting at night in the car park and the grounds of the hotel is very poor. As a female visitor to the hotel it was very uncomfortable going back to my car alone
Located in Annex building with poor lighting and signage to room, located near noisy function room (wedding in progress),bathroom door handle broken, toilet blocked and sink poor draining.(all reported) tea making equipment hidden in wardrobe on shelf for clothes, had to be moved to desk for use, not very practicable. Some lights didn't work and dimmer switches did not appear to operate.
Sat nav took us to rear entrance, which a sign said entrance on ..... Road took us 30mins to find other entrance . Staff said next morning "did you ring bell we could have let you in "
Wi-Fi not working poor décor in room - flaking paint room temperature too high credit card charge - not told about this.
Very nice comfortable room of good size and quality. Very good bathroom. Good bar area with good food served at a reasonable price. Nice quiet location in large grounds.
Staff were friendly.
The television aerial needs sorting out-no channel 4. As near a forest we saw two mice run outside our room which wasnt pleasant.
I was unhappy that for our anniversary I really wanted to stay in the mansion room and especially when it was also a venue we were looking at for our wedding day. Got to our room to then find the toilet flush wouldn't stop, after 40 mins of the maintenance guy fiddling around they gave us another room. By then me and my partner just wanted to go home- didn't feel like a special occasion anymore. The manager gave us 10% off our room which was hardly the point because it had already ruined our evening.
Location. Beautiful grounds
Location made it look like an interesting building when in fact the accommodation was in modern blocks some considerable distance from the restaurant and a good, outside, walk - despite asking for easy access for my elderly mother. Bar area poor and in need of upgrading of furniture which was worn.
We had special request on our booking '2 beds for 3&5year olds' arrived to no beds, room only could fit 1 bed so 2 kids slept end to end, moved next day to another room again 1 bed, squeezed 2nd bed in. Room was an out building away from hotel and had no wifi and 2 channels on tv. Young family use rooms more than anyone, kids asleep from 8 and adults with no wifi & no tv. Very frustrating
Staff cold and unfriendly . Arrived at 11.30pm and told that my room would not be ready for 20-30 minutes! When room ready I found piles of dirty plates and food in the hallway outside my door and still there the following day. 3 floors up to my room with heavy bag and a maze challenge to find my room! No elevator. Grand building and frontage but hollow inside, obviously being run on a shoestring budget. Disappointing to say the least!
Food was good
Bedrooms were poor, hotel was noisey, bed was really tired. Generally it was in need of a good refurb.
As a single traveller arriving late I was disappointed to be put in a stable block some way from the hotel to find no heating, no phones and no internet. Not good value for money
Location, peace and quiet.
Dust in bedroom behind bedside table on carpet. Cracked tiling and bath sealing. Dust in electric fan which I washed myself. Tariff for room service.
Glorious setting, reception and bar area very spacious. Very nice room 610, most comfortable hotel bed ever!! Bar menu basic but good food. Price of room.
Tray containing left over beef chilli on the floor in the corridor outside a room stinking out the whole 1st floor from check-in to check-out.
nice / location
Very poor soundproofing between bedrooms. Impossible to sleep.
