The hotel is situated in a lovely part of old Holmfirth, the views looking out from the front of the hotel of the old stone built buildings with the large dominating church must have been an inspiration to many an artist over the years. We parked the car without any problem but noticed the small car park soon filled up. We found all the staff to be very pleasant and helpful. The dining room and bar area's were very comfortable. There was a good selection of well kept hand pulled ales but expensive, 50p per pint less would have been more realistic. The bedroom although small was nice, clean and comfortable its feature was a balcony which due to the good weather and view made our stay most enjoyable. The breakfast was good but we realised afterwards we had missed out on a course with choices including porridge, kippers and omelettes. Would have no hesitation in recommending the hotel to others. There was some noise late at night from a nearby pub but it didnt really disturb us.

Nice pub, decent food and right next door to The Picturedrome. The bathroom was pokey and the shower controls were the bath taps!

We stayed in the honeymoon suite which was more expensive than the standard double rooms. It had a lovely private balcony and large en- suite bathroom and it was all spotlessly clean. The restaurant and bar are well worth a visit. We had a very enjoyable and hearty meal which was good value for money. As the room was classed as a honeymoon suite we were a little disapppointed with the size of the bedroom. If we had been staying longer than 1 night it may have been a problem. Also the toilet was not working properly and when I told the receptionist she seemed aware of the problem so it should have been sorted out before our stay.

Food was good. Smelly room (number 19). Black slime mould around bath. No shower just a hairspray hose - useless. The hardest and lumpiest bed I've ever slept on - I got no sleep at all. A manager who asks if I had a good night and when I reply: "No." doesn't say a single word. An overpriced hotel that's seen much better days and is now only suitable for backpackers used to sleeping on hard ground. We will not be back.

Good town centre location near to the venue of the concert we were attending and where our our friends live. Good English breakfast. Bar/dinning area very busy on Friday and Sturday nights. We could not get a seat on Saturday. No residents lounge/bar. Very noisy location with groups of drunken revelers roaming the street outside until the early hours.

The staff were very helpful & friendly. The room was comfortable, very clean, nice fresh crisp bed linen, plenty of towels, very hot water and good tea & coffe making facilities. We were at the back of the hotel so the roo was a little dark. We ate in the hotel dinner was vey good, freshly cooked, hot and plenty of it. Breakfast was good although there wasn't any fruit available as mentioned on the menu. All in all very good value for money. In need of a little decorating and brightening up.

Meals were good value and room was warm, but rather small. Very poor Wifi reception in the room. Had to take computer downstairs in order to work and then struggled to get an available power point. The wifi system needs to be upgraded so that it can be received efficiently throughout the hotel.

The location was excellent. The food was of good quality with huge portions. The room we stayed in was very dated and rather tired. There was no extractor fan for the bathroom which was therefore rather damp.

The location and the room, the restaurant and the the late bar. There is a venue that has live bands on next to the hotel and after the event people gather at the rear at the hotel. The walls are very thin and these people were very noisy, shouting and drinking.
