Set in a peaceful location, only minutes from Bristol International Airport, this 17th-century farmhouse has beautiful period features, beamed ceilings, and long-stay parking.
Score from 229 reviews Very good
Very quiet country location but close enough to Bath and several other attractions, plus Mendips walks. Very friendly and attentive staff. The lounge looks as though it would be very snug on winter evenings
Although styled a hotel it's more like a very large B&B but also offering dinners. The dinner food was good (particularly the starters) but breakfast choice limited for this price range (eg: no fresh fruit, smoked salmon etc). Clean and well kept inside but the exterior doesn't look as good.
immaculate bedding & towels, clean room with tea/coffee. Toys in room for children.
Smell of damp in reception, cold atmosphere, very old and tired, needs some tlc to warrant cost.
Breakfast menu - why have all those 'or's when the staff are quite happy to give you half of one option and half of another? Just ask people what they want from the list. Not everyone will eat you out of house and home, and the person who does will tell everyone else how wonderful you are.
Lovely staff, comfortable bed and what an amazing breakfast.
Poor mobile reception if which is not the hotel's fault.
Our fantastic hosts couldn't have been more welcoming. We had a wonderful stay and wouldn't hesitate to come back again.
Welcoming, attentive staff Cleanliness Good, served breakfast Recent addition of wifi (though didn't actually make use of it) Car parking
I never like your location question - depends what you want/need 2-star rating is right - reflecting very average restaurant (and no available draught beer!) It's not cheap for what you get
Nice, spacious room.
Overpriced room, Spartan breakfast, overcooked vegetables at dinner.
Comfortable stay, polite/friendly/helpful staff, good shower, basic room needs met & great breakfast :)
Due to the high temperature/good weather the room was too warm with no air conditioning, we were given a fan! Needed more plug sockets for your gadgets and location remote meant poor phone signal! :(
Staff were hardworking, friendly and efficient; owner took a genuine interest in guests at her hotel without being obtrusive. Pleasantly surprised at the standard and quality of the food in the restaurant in the evening. Other groups of guests seemed to have spent several nights at the hotel and got to know each other. Peaceful view over fields opposite. Slightly dated lounge with small bar, but didn't matter, very relaxing atmosphere.
Slight difficulty finding it: keep following the brown sign down the lane and don't lose your nerve.
friendlly staff comfortable room excellent food.
Got there late but they still managed to supply a great meal. Room was great with plenty of room to spread out. Good nights sleep and a full breakfast. I'll be back.
Lovely family run feel, very welcoming and beautiful location.
No mobile phone signal due to being tucked away in a valley; connecting to wifi proved troublesome.
Staff very friendly location child friendly
We stayed for two night's at The Old Malthouse the staff were fantastic and we had a lovely dinner there on one of the nights. Breakfast is great as well. It is ideally situated for sightseeing and we will definitely return one day. A really lovely hotel. Thanks to David and all the staff.
I met the friendliest staff ever, the food was great ,beautiful setting and very peaceful.
Excellent food, very helpful staff.
Warm friendly greeting. Helpful staff when I needed advice about driving to Bath. Good freshly cooked, full English breakfast. Comfortable, clean room.
Breakfast is between 07.30 -09.00 This is a very early finish time for people who are on holiday- not very guest-friendly at all.
Quiet, friendly. Would go again.
Very enjoyable stay at this B and B. We were a young family, so the accommodations were good for us. The location is out a bit, but was very nice.
We booked a small double room, and the room was definitely small! As we were only staying for one night that wasn't an issue, but bear it in mind if you are staying for a few days. The bed was comfy, the room was clean & we had a view of a field full of horses from the bedroom window. Very quiet & peaceful in a beautiful rural setting. We opted to have the cooked breakfast, the dining room was bright & sunny and the food was very tasty, generous portions and smiling service all round.
Just the whole experience. Staff couldn't of been friendlier.
No wifi in breakfast room.
Friendliness of the people, the rural area & the food was good.
No Wifi or internet connection, the TV bracket on the wall was loose making it difficult to watch TV
The staff were incredibly friendly. They made us feel very welcome and helped us out with anything we needed. They let us keep our bags past our checkout while we went for a walk and also drove us back to bath as we couldn't get hold of a taxi. Would highly recommend this place.
Everything was perfect ... Very friendly staff... Very helpful .... We have stayed here before so we know how good it is.... We will stay again when we come back to visit friends.... My husband loves he breakfast......
