It was lovely having an en-suite bedroom in a Pullman carriage on a former platform. The old waiting-room now a comfortable lounge and breakfast room was a delight. The breakfast itself was delicious.
Location is a little remote. If you don't come by car, you definitely need to book a taxi beforehand. We booked taxis from and to Pulborough Station - fine. However, after visiting Petworth House, no taxis were available, so we had to walk back to the hotel - not that far really - but lack of walkways for pedestrians made it unpleasant and dangerous alongside the traffic.
Quiet, relaxing and the bed was perfect including the cleanliness of the linen. Staff were welcoming and helpful. (Asked for very crispy bacon and that's what I got). In all my travels that's a first. We enjoyed taking photos both inside and out which means we have some nice memories. Great example of haw a short holiday should be. Already planning another visit. Keep up the good work. You are certainly on the "right track".
Comfortable accommodation, with good facilities. Excellent breakfast served in nostalgic early 20th century surroundings. Definitely different.
Charming old railway station so quirky and charming. Loved it would definitely stay again. Xxxx
Excellent accommodation with first class breakfast Excellent pub 2 min walk for evening meal Altogether a lovely experience
The bed was magnificent especially compared to the 28 others we have used in the course of our 9 week holiday Location was quiet and the local pub had great food and drinks. Personal touches provided by the staff at the Old Railway station were a real eye opener and an example of what other so called 5 star B&B's should emulate. In all everything Just Happened (tm) exactly as it was supposed to. Would 100% recommend the Old Railway Station to friends and family
Location was a little hard to find with signposting in need of improvement. The bathroom could do with a grab rail over the bath as the sides were quite high.
what's not to like about a weekend in a Pullman car? Brilliant. Even the Owls at night.
would have liked an authentic painting of the carriages & house......no sale!!!!!!!! For a one night stay checkout is too early 11am!!! Hardly finished breakfast....
Lovely owner, beautifully restored train carriage with all you could possibly need or want, excellent sleep and shower. The station waiting room has been beautifully decorated and furnished.
Hard to find station. Required GPS coordinates for Sat.Nav to find it.
Warm welcome, with a hot drink on arrival. The carriage was beautiful, with plenty of radiators to keep it cosy for our autumn stay. The Badgers, a 100 yard walk away provided a lovely meal without having the inconvenience of having to travel into Petworth town.
everything was wonderful
should have stayed two nights
For any old style railway enthusiast (like my husband) this is a gem of a place. We stayed in one of the Pullman carriages - beautifully preserved, but updated to include all mod-cons. We had a lovely evening meal at the nearby Badger pub and a great breakfast at the hotel. We were made to feel really welcome and were very well looked after. I would thoroughly recommend the place!
We are like there but we went walk to pub at the driveway bridge too dark... We would love it again. Brilliant local and lovely friendly at Pub there.
We liked the authenticity, the furnishings enhanced the setting and nostalgic atmosphere. Breakfast was excellent and very enjoyable. A very nice experience.
Unique accommodation in a great location
The breakfast......I was so disappointed. I understand cooking facilities are limited but I would have gone without if I'd known most of it was microwaved. Not for me thank you.
The Pullman carriages have obviously been lovingly restored, and took us back to a bygone era. Staff were friendly, made you feel at home immediately. Breakfast was fabulous , and served with a smile 2 minute walk from The Badger, good food to be had there.
Rooms could have been a little cleaner , little dusty in spots.
we thought the whole experience was absolutely delightful we could fault nothing
We loved the unique one-off nature of the Old Railway Station. The bed was extremely comfortable and we loved the experience of staying in a Pullman carriage. The Breakfast Room is delightful and the quality of all the furnishings and table-ware absolutely spot-on. Breakfast was very good indeed and the fresh fruit at the start a particularly nice and welcome touch - top quality and a really pleasurable experience. We would have loved to have been able to have dinner here too, so if there is any potential in the future for development of the catering operation, that would be a fantastic addition for guests.
Nothing! The only unfortunate experience was our evening meal at Badgers - very poor quality.
Lovely location. A little busy traffic but we'll worth a visit. Great staff and lovely atmosphere. We stayed here about 8 years ago and would thoroughly recommend
The staff were friendly and helpful. We took our own champagne and the staff provided us with an ice bucket and glasses. Other accommodation would have charged us for their own from the bar.
lack of choice of places to eat within walking distance in the evening.
We treated friends for a 70th birthday celebration. We just loved everything about it and as our friend has an interest of trains of all kinds he absolutely loved it.
Comfortable facilities. An appreciable amount of railway nostalgia. Excellent breakfast. Central to interesting venues and surroundings.
Pub dinner venues found to be rather 'shabby chic'. Platform breakfast venue could be made more interesting with the addition of bird nut or seed feeders placed near the track hedge to attract the smaller birds. We were very fortunate with the fine weather but in wet weather things could have been quite different.
The whole experience
Nothing to dislike
Unique location charming staff. Easy access to delightful inns and pubs close to th sea
