quiet. close to the moor. walking distance to great pub. friendly owners good size rooms with fridge and yes the breakfast is amazing who could ask for anything more .xe
There was nothing not to like! Stayed 2 nights and will definitely be returning in the future. Breakfast was delicious, all locally sourced/home made. The place was lovely, the room was spacious and very comfortable, everything we needed. We were made to feel very welcome and enjoyed every minute of our trip away.
The warm friendly approach by the lady owner, the more than copious, tasty breakfast. The proximity to small towns and Dartmoor. We are unable to comment on the Wi-Fi facility because we did not use it.
I would have liked somewhere to sit in the evenings to read or unwind.
Every thing was wonderful.
Good value property close to Dartmoor
Hosts of the Old School House were extremely friendly and made us most welcome. Loved the quaintness and individuality of this guest house and the personal touches the hosts provided.
Maybe Breakfast times during the week could be made a little later, say upto 9.00am instead of 08.30am
Very well equiped homely quite cottage, plebty of space, everything you need, warm and set in a beautiful quiet little village. Supermarkets 5 min drive and village has pub and a shop and park for kids. Plenty of parking.
Off road parking Good breakfast, home baked bread, home made jam and local produce we were told Good size room Overall very clean and tidy Coffee etc in room Fresh milk in fridge
Carpeted bathroom. Bi-folding toilet door afforded no privacy. Matress was very hard Ceiling was very high so spotlights did not light the room adequately. Full length mirror would have been a bonus
Friendly hosts, breakfast was terrific with everything sourced locally and home made.
Wifi reception was a bit temperamental due to the buildings solid walls.
The warm welcome we received and the comfort of the room
Loved the quirkiness of the school house and the friendliness of the owners and the peaceful location.
Did not like having to fill in breakfast menu the night before.
Hosts were very friendly gave information about outside eating nothing too much trouble the old school house was niceand bright with personal touches made it feel you were staying as part of a family
Nothing we didnt like
Located on the outskirts of a small village that has a convenience store that was open from 7am - 10pm most days and two pubs that did food. The self catering cottage was well equipped and comfortable. Bedrooms were light and roomy and had ample wardrobe space. Owners were very helpful and friendly and the garden a delight.
Wifi and phone connections were very hit and miss - most likely due to the thick walls in the Old School House so not really anything that can be changed. Bathroom was located downstairs which was a slight problem at night for my elderly Mum
location, friendlieness of host, modern facilities, off street parking. Easy walk to local pubs and chippery. We were able to open the skylights in our room to let in fresh air and cool the room. Our bathroom was across a landing which was minor inconvenience but not an issue, it meant our room was larger. Access to local towns was easy and as we took back lanes it made the trip even more enjoyable
that we only spent two nights there
The bathroom was through 3 doors and down a corridor. It was "private" but not locked so anyone could use it. Thought we were getting a bathroom in our room not down the corridor!
Excellant location to explore the surrounding area. The Old School House was a good base. Friendly people nice food a lovely clean bed and hand made soap available. Maxine has spent much time considering the little details that make a special stay. We will certainly come again.
We would have liked to have sampled the evening meals at the Old School House, but unfortunately they were not able to offer evening meals at all during our stay, due to family illness. We had a taxi in the evenings into Tavistock and had a wonderful choice of places to eat.
Clean, quiet, friendly and comfortable with good home made and local produce food
Nice owner, breakfast can make full for the whole day, cosy building. Wlan did work every time. Water and tea facilities available
Beds are a bit too soft
GREAT PLACE TO STAY. EVERYTHING IS PERFECT.
I was exploring South West of Britain on my motorcycle and stay over in this beautiful house for one night. Maxine is a wonderful hostess and my room was spectacular. Everything what I needed after long day ride I have found there: spacious parking, huge comfortable bed with fresh white linen, fresh milk in the fridge, tea, coffee, biscuits, bath with home made soap. Next day morning I was rested well and continue my journey through Dartmoor National Park back home to London.
A very nice hotel to stay at.
They need 24 hours notice for evening meals!
Staff very nice, very good breakfast, bed comfortable. Reasonable positions for our purposes.
Lack of proper bathroom door and the shower did not work. Also in our room sound insulation was not to good but it was mainly very quite fortunately. A bit kitsch and 'cat themed' for my taste. Apart from the bathroom issues these are minor points.
Everything! I was very comfortable and felt welcome. Maxine and Chris were helpful and friendly at all times
We had a great stay it's the second time we have been there And im sure it wont be the last, food very good room first class love the lounge with the star wars stuff, same we could not stay longer may be next time thank you.
The guesthouse is very cosy and well decorated. The rear garden is big and pretty. The breakfast is made of local farm produces. The hosts are very friendly and helpful.
