Score from 61 reviews Superb
Easy to get to, 5 minute walk from shopping centre with plenty of restaurants hotel was fantastic with friendly staff.
Location: It is less than a gentle 5 minute walk from the centre of Harrogate. Room: Our room was clean, spacious, with good tea and coffee provisions
The lack of facilities: for the size of the hotel I would expect more i.e. a gym, pool, spa etc. There is ample lounge space, but not much in the way of activity The price: The rooms are quite expensive for what is included, even considering location. The age range of other guests. It may have been the particular weekend we chose, but as a 30 year old couple we were the youngest by about 30 years!
Quality of bed - poor Quality of pillow - poor Quality of plumbing - noisey Quality of sleep - non existent
Excellent standard of service in a relaxed atmosphere . All staff were courteous, friendly and helpful, nothing being too much trouble. We attended the historical book writers annual event which was organised and run at the same high level of easy efficiency. We shall be back!
The stay passed all too quickly!
Didn't expect to get a bath in a single room - lovely bonus. Room was comfortable and quiet, excellent breakfast, fantastic staff. Brilliant location within walking distance of everything
Paying for wifi
the location. the porridge.
the rooms were in poor repair and the wrong side of shabby chic. the rooms were too hot. the food was terrible. communication from the hotel staff to the guests was poor. Guiness from a can noisy small children in the bar after 8pm
Easy Parking, Quiet, excellent Location, room nice for money
Bar prices extortionate!
staff excellent , location excellent , nice room with view, food very good
hotel looks tired needs and needs updating décor wise
I loved the look of the Old Swan: very traditional / recently updated / and full of Agatha Christie atmosphere: which room would the next murder be in?? Was it safe to try a coffee in the library...
The 'only' negative was that the drains in the bathroom were a little smelly so you had to keep the bathroom door closed. Though it sounds like a problem that would put a few people off it was a small thing overall!
Location, atmosphere of hotel. Loved the dining room.
Our bathroom sink was badly cracked.
Location Room & Ablution Facilities Period Building Traditional Style & Service
Noise Penetration from rooms above Poor insulation from noise created by other residents late at night on corridoor approach to room.
Stayed here with friends two years ago a bit disappointed at the time hotel rooms really cold ( did get oil filled radiator brought to room ) dining hall lacking in atmosphere but food was fair returned with same friends for girlie shopping trip upgraded to executive room , fluffy robes, chocolates and really cosy - thoroughly enjoyable
Only one lift and with four ladies luggage plus shopping a snug fit !
The staff are always helpful. It's location is perfect for the centre of Harrogate and the food is always excellent.
Because of the building works at the back of the hotel it is noisy from early on in the morning.
The rooms were very nice and the breakfast was lovely. Nice traditional décor.
NoWhere to park and roudywedding on all night with people shouting and swearing outside and in the corridors..
GOOD STAFF GOOD LOCATION GOOD FOOD
VEIW FROM NOT GOOD. AND ROOM TO HOT HAVE STOPPED IN BETTER FOR LESS. BUT FINE FOR A ONE NIGHT STAY
only stopped for a night did not use facilities.
Good location, friendly staff, gave me £20 back as agreed room was well below par, however still paid over the odds compared with a standard room! Won't be going back
Shabby over-priced 'executive room' Damp on walls, wires poking out from under sink and radiators, view in this Exec room was over a dirty cracked glass roof, and 2 fire escapes, old (not quality) tatty furniture, scratched and tired, room very stuffy, rotten and dirty windows, dangerous cheap kettle, nasty budget loo paper. Breakfast edible...What a shame from its past glory days!
Old world charm, staff in both breakfast and daily service was helpfull and pleasant. Room was very clean and comfortable as it was in our previous visits.
As I have walking problem our room was perhaps to far from lifts
Stall were very helpful all round. Excellent waitress/waiter served breakfast in a beautiful dining room. My wife loved the hotel's ambiance, particularly the lounge bar which was light an airy The hotel is a lovely place to be for a short or long stay.
We had a standard double room. the bathroom was a bit cramped. There was no hot water at 8.00am but 15 mins later there was a plentiful supply. the mattress was too firm for my personal taste and too small for my length 6' 2.5"
My only criticism of this lovely hotel is that the bedrooms didn't have enough light for reading, but I would certainly stay there again.
The location, the building, the public rooms, the décor, the vintage lift!
Inadequate car parking, poor breakfast service (discussed with manager at the time), average breakfast, bed moved away from headboard when we tried to lean against it to read!
Oldy Worldy charm, great staff, loverly food.
Single room a little small
The hotel is very "tired" now - I used to know it well from the days of attending conferences in Harrogate. It is very lacklustre with poor reception staff - curteous but didn't offer me a wake up call, didn't ask if I wanted a paper.
Orion 240 - Noisy heating pipes in the early morning - I suggest a senior manage sleeps in this "executive" room - to see just how noisy the pipes are when they heat up.
Clean, very good staff, responded well and swiftly to heating issues,
Bed.. Hard and lumpy Poor heating, old system.. Needed extra
