“ Warm, welcoming staff in beautiful old hotel with superb facade and facilities with a sense of old world charm. Very accessible on foot from town. Everything wonderful. ”

Kyneton
Surrounded by picturesque lawns and gardens, The Old Swan was once the famous retreat of Agatha Christie. It offers modern rooms with en suite facilities, and free on-site parking. Originally an 18th-century coaching inn, it now features rooms with tea and coffee-making facilities, a TV and trouser press. Some also have a stand-alone bath and views over the garden. The traditional Swan Lounge and Bar offers a selection of beverages and afternoon teas, while the Wedgewood and Library restaurants serve fresh, locally sourced dishes. The Old Swan was home to Agatha Christie during her disappearance in 1926, and has since been used as a film set for the 1979 film, Agatha. Just a short walk from Harrogate town centre, the building is 5 minutes’ walk from the famous Betty’s Tearoom and 15 minutes from Harrogate Railway Station. Hotel Rooms: 136, Hotel Chain: Classic Lodges. The most recent booking for this hotel was made on 22 May at 11:03 from United Kingdom.

Location was perfect for stay in town. Room was spacious and comfortable Hotel breakfast choice was excellent and food quality was top grade I'd imagine if you had the similar room away from the function suite it would be tranquil as the night without the wedding reception, the birdsong and stillness was quite sublime, considering the hotel location is very close to the town centre, which gave it a countryside feel Our room was located above function suite and there were two wedding receptions on 2 of the 3 nights so poor sleep early on due to thump from below, which marred the break somehow due to the noise The room was hot, with only sash windows that partially open, due to safety issues, which didn't help with the noise from the funtion suite

This Hotel is badly in need of a total refurb. Looks tired even though this is an old world Hotel parts of it are badly in need of some tlc. Hotel entrance (Revolving Doors) as an example were completely neglected - being brass,or we thought they were, these were stained and shabby - not a very good first impression to our stay. We Booked and Executive Double which was satated as having views over the gardens/town - ours looked over the fire escape no less and was not in our opinion an Exectutive by ant means. A huge room with a very small bathroom in comparison. Restaurant was a real classic, a beautiful old room but, the dining chairs were stained and shabby. Meal was only average. Would not recommend staying at this Hotel, and will certainly not be returning .

I have stayed at this hotel before and still love it. there is such an olde worlde charm and the building is full of history and character. The staff are friendly and professional and the food is great. The location is great too. The price is a little high and we were a little dissapointed by the executive room. It was a little basic for the price. Bed was a bit hard. Didn't put us off though and we would still return.

Great location. Great breakfast. Lovely old hotel with excellent staff. Beds were very comfortable. Had everything we needed. Had afternoon tea there which was excellent. Room was very dusty and smelt of smoke. Rooms aren't really well appointed as a lot look into the wall/window opposite - so not really a great view.

Great location, nice walk to town, lovely building, nice history, nice breakfast and clean. Couldn't sleep well at all since the room was very very hot and there was a continuous noise outside sounded like a/c or generator....room 151....

Comfort of room and bathroom 'Overflow' car park (not overflow as nearly everyone ends up there). The poor and loose surface causes dusty shoes in dry weather and is horrible in bad - a nightmare for the better dressed.

Staff courteous Room good size The fact i had soil in my leaks at supper which made it feel like i was eating sand. I let staff know and nothing was done apart from an 'oh sorry' from the waitress. Disappointing given it was £15.

Breakfast was very good and some of the sevice excellent, but others let it down. Head waiter on the Saturday morning looked like he had just got out of bed. Stayed in room 384.Room was very tired, bathroom was very very small. Could have done better down the road at the White Hart for similar money.

Location and free parking Double Room small but clean. Good breakfast Polite staff at front desk. Room noisey from 3 functions till after midnight. No pre warning. Restaurant limited for guests due to functions Room very hot - 24 C all day and only able to open window a little due to safety catch. Room remained hot all night. Other guests complained rooms too cold!
