Comfortable -relaxing-elegant-nice situation-clean-friendly- but see food comments below!!! The breakfast was dreadful - cooked breakfast unappetising and cold and really ineadible. Nothing has changed there - it was the same when I stayed in 2006!! Diabetic marmalade was advertised on the menu - there was none. The yogurt bowl was empty and there was no more - it had not been delivered!!! You really have to look at the food experience and improve it markedly - at £15 for breakfast one expects much better. |

the character of the building the rooms were small particularly the en suite, the rooms were far too warm, the food was extremely poor, and the inexperience of the staff was quite evident,as experienced travellers this is the worst hotel we have stayed in and certainly does not warrant a 4 star. |

The room was spacious, spotlessly clean and the staff were helpful. I don't think the rooms are thoroughly checked regularly for faults such as the bedside lamp, bulb needed replacing (which they did within 10 minutes). Shower cubicle, soap holder broken. The biggest issue was breakfast. £16+ for breakfast is ridiculous. We booked room only and I phoned on 1st morning to ask how much breakfast was. Told by Reception £3.50. Had only cold breakfast, not full English and it was £16.95 each. This is not on. Ate breakfast out on day 2. |

Friendliness of the staff. They acted with great efficiency when the fire alarms sounded - luckily nothing serious and we were back in the hoetl in a few minutes. |

Only that it was near the centre. The bed, mattress and pillows, were hard and uncomfortable. The room was very cold and there was no heating whatsoever that could be adjusted to warm the room. Had to find staff when I wanted a drink at the bar, one of your managers was in the bar and said to me 'go to reception and ask for Ian'. I didn't think it was my place to chase staff. One gin and tonic was £4. |

Location, close to town centre, pleasant building and room, we were allowed to use the car park on the day of checkout to have time to go shopping in the afternoon which was very useful. The room was very warm even with window ajar and heating off, good in winter but not in spring or summer! |

Lovely atmosphere and kind, friendly staff. We only ate in the restaurant at breakfast time but the food was great. A bit noisy along the corridors as rooms are not sound proof. The corridor lighting upstairs also gave it an air of 'school dormitory' - needs to be brighter! |

I had an executive double room and the bathroom was big and bright and airy and the room ahd a nice view of the garden. I thought that the hotel was very old fashioned and geared towards an older clientelle ( I am in my twenties). The decor and the restaurant menu were also very old fashioned. |

The hotels location was good as we stayed during a weekend shopping trip I thought the hotel was expensive for what we got. I would not class it as a four star |

The grounds and the atmosphere of past grandeur Smell of damp in a corridor/Price of drinks in the bar/ Electric sockets from a cable reel in an executive suite of a 4 star hotel/Could provide more information about Agatha Christie /This is a big heap of bricks requiring more investment in the bed rooms |

The Swan is a grand old building which has had a lot spent on it recently. You have to appreciate its history to enjoy it fully, there are high ceilings in most rooms but the bathrooms are superb. As with all hotels these days food and drink prices are extremely high and do not offer any value for money. Easy soloution, eat out, plenty of excellent diners etc in Harrogate all withinj easy walking of the Old Swan |
