Quiet room which we asked for. Very nice, clean bathroom with plenty of hot water. Breakfast was excellent and very generous. Good hotel car park but we needed to display our parking permit in the windscreen.
Noisy radiator pipes late at night and very early in the morning. Bright light from the corridor shining around the edges of the door. We placed a towel along the bottom of the door to keep out some light but the bed was badly positioned close to the door. Had it been on the opposite wall this would not have been such a problem. Awful plastic mattress protector which made sleep uncomfortable and sweaty!
Staff very helpful and an excellent breakfast
Car parking was difficult
Location .... Staff
Ended up with the same room as last time we stayed only last time booked for a standard room and this time for an Executive room ... we paid extra thinking we would get a larger room on a different floor not one in the roof with limited headroom and mould in the bathroom with a very tiny window in the bedroom overlooking building works. When questioning the staff they said it was because we had booked through an agency and not them direct ... details of what we paid for were not passed on
Nowhere to park as claimed Small basic room at end of corridor Did not match the star rating of the hotel Breakfast served so slowly I had to miss the main part None of the staff seemed bothered
For the price we paid for one night was very good and when we went into the room we found not only a bedroom but a sitting room as well on top of that we had two TV Excellent
Too large, no personal touch
Warm Hot water Clean rooms.
Attention to detail, as the organisoer i would have thought we would have been alocated the best room. Reception painfully slow. lack of tea/ coffee in rooms
Hard bed, poor lighting in the room.
I booked three months ago.The party we went with took a group booking at a discounted rate so the group organiser phoned up and got me an upgrade to a suite for the same price i originally paid . Excellent quality all round great staff .Bars a bit pricey but you've got to go OTT now and then lol. Im going there again when I'm in Harrogate and would highly recommend it if you were going to Harrogate.
Everything. Word of warning get there early as the parking is a bit tight and the parking enforcement from the council is very keen.
I like the quiet clean environment.
The location was very central for shopping in Harrogate and being able to park was a bonus
This is a very pretty old fashioned hotel, loved the dining room, the rooms were spacious and very clean. Lovely grounds round the hotel which we didnt use due to the time of year we visited.
Noise from a wedding that did not start until 8.30 pm that disturbed other residents into to early hours. The hotel should insist on consideration being given to others.
Everything. The Old Swan is a beautiful example of a traditional Victorian hotel -from the moment you mount the three marble steps in the entrance hall you know you have arrived at a very special place. The public rooms are stunning, spacious and rather grand with beautifully restored ornate plasterwork - don't miss the stained glass ceiling in the dining room which floods the room with natural light. The staff were very attentive, making us feel welcome even though there was a large wedding party in full swing. Our room was large, comfortable warm, and had an extensive range of toiletries. white fluffy dressing gowns and slippers. The location is perfect, just a gentle stroll to theTurkish baths, the pump rooms, the antique shops, designer fashion shops and the unique Victorian fish restaurant, the Drum and Monkey .For once I had chosen well - a long overdue getaway treat for my daughter's birthday worked brilliantly. Thank you The Old Swan. Now we know why Agatha Christie chose this hotel as a bolthole when she went missing in 1926, We will be back. We will wonndenrf
An indoor pool would have been the icing on the cake.
Location, building itself (has character), bar area
Extra charge for internet, extra charge for different breakfast options. The full English was good and included in the price, but I cant understand why there is a £3.95 for kippers (and other options) which wouldnt cost more than the full breakfast.
The fact that booking said breakfast was included in my cost and it turned out it wasn't......very displeased!!!
Real Christmas Trees, lovely architectural details. Large bathroom and bedroom. Good food. Excellent location close to town centre and very quiet.
Car parking is a little limited. Only one lift but that is because the building has been preserved with original features.
hotel location was perfect the staff were welcoming and helpful .the room was a great surprise -large lounge with television and comfy sofa & chairs , bathroom and large bedroom with another tele, tea making tray & bottled water .felt like a spacious suite. All very clean, parking no problem .we did eat out on the evening so cannot comment on the restaurant.
nothing !!! everything was fine no problems at all .
lovely staff, spotlessly clean, good breakfast, excellent location
bedrooms a little dated
Courteous and helpful staff in a hotel with style and great food
Location and on-sire car parking make this an excellent choice for visiting the centre of Harrogate. The restaurant offers excellent value and the hotel offers old style charm and attention in a modern way.
The waiting staff were prone to minor errors (but always apologised)
Good location sort of Impressive looking building Nice public areas Tasty breakfast
Shabby dull bedrooms Poor quality decor chipped paint torn wallpaper Poor beds High level of internal noise Rip off fees for wifi
Good location for the Harrogate International Centre. Attractive building.
Service was apalling/non existant. Breakfast chaotic - tables not cleared; food & juices on buffet not replenished. Had to 'aquire' marmalade (half-used) from a vacated table. Staff, when asked, said yes - but ignored what you requested. Second day; tables cleared but buffet still not monitored. Had to keep asking for things. Parking: very limited - wedding facilities for 450 guests do not help !!! Someone blocked exit from carpark but staff do not keep an eye oon this - or people parking on the double yellow lines which are all across the front of the hotel.
I would definately stay at this beautiful hotel again. However my sister and I were disappointed after leaving such a grand entrance and reception area, we were assigned two miserably small single rooms. Even after we had changed from two tiny rooms (one of which had obviously been recently decorated). I just felt as if we were sent up to "the Gods" and were very much second class citizens. Otherwise loved it!
Relaxed while still slightly formal. Knowledgeable and helpful staff. I loved the open fires in the public areas.
The poor finish in the bathroom, very shoddy sealing around the bath/shower. Poor quality window blind in there too. Poor ventilation led to much condensation... And for some reason loads of ladybirds.
