The location, the all round atmosphere and general good feel about the town, the restaurants and the pubs
Unfortunately the weather was a bit chilly and wet, but when wrapped up and raring to go , you don't let it bother you
My wife and i weren't sure what to expect from the Palace Hotel as we took advantage of a very cheap special offer at £44 per night. We needn't have worried, the newly refurbished room ( number 3) was very nice and the very large, new en-suite bathroom was excellent. Good location on Oban harbour .waterfront. Street parking was always easy to find. Recommended.
missing my breakfast, my own fault !!!!
Felt like management were not interested in their hotel.
Loved the location. Such a warm hearted and helpful staff.
The size of the room. It was too small.
Average in most ways. Heater worked well. (+1C in the morning.)
67 steps up from the street to our room.
Handy for early ferry, but so are other hotels in Oban
No parking No wifi Room 1
I actually booked this room for my 70-year-old mother so am writing this on her behalf. She loved the location and said the staff was very convenient. She had a single room that faced the back and said it was very clean and quiet.
Street noise- sash windows. Over-priced, very basic.
Couldn't be a better location: right on the main street in Oban looking out over the water. For that reason alone it's worth the money.
Kind of dingy overall and I would avoid the restaurant, but it puts you in the center of Oban, so, for the low prices, it's worth staying there and just spending most of your time elsewhere.
they re-arranged our room to suit my elderly mother who could not climb the stairs to my online booked room.
Loved the location. So central for everything. The room was lovely and clean. Staff very helpful.
Would have preferred a front facing room. Being on the third floor meant an awful lot of stairs to climb as there is no lift. The shower was not really powerful but I would certainly return to this hotel as the price made up for these minor faults.
We quite liked the skylights and the large old bathtub. It was quiet, well located, and comfortable.
Close to ferry and train station. Friendly welcome. Fine for a short stay (for us, one night)
Noise, dirty, needs painting, stairs to top floor, musty smell, sound of keys opening doors, overheard conversations from other rooms in middle of the night...terrible
Tiny room. Tiny bathroom. No parking. No wifi. No lift. Hard mattress. Creaky bed. Better off sleeping on the floor.
location was great, right in the centre of town. Ideal for an overnight stay
Going up all those stairs cause of no lift.
Room 3 recently updated, lovely quiet room and fabulous en suite bathroom
Parking a 5 minute walk, rooms facing busy front possibly affected by noise
The room was very nice and the Hotel was very clean. Great location. I would stay there again if the price were lower.
The price was too high once the conversion was made into Canadian dollars for what you got. Breakfast prices were higher than the cafe's down the street. The single pain windows rattled all night long in the wind.
Brilliant view from our room. Central for everything.
The bed was really hard.
Booked for 7 nights moved out after 2 nights they would not return all outstanding money hotel smells mould on ceiling beds end to end TV not working very expensive
There was absolutely no sufficient space in the room. En suite shower was not working with either very hot water or very cold water was coming when complained they mention they are not able to rectify. Quality of bedding was poor. Rooms were located in 4th floor with no lifts. None was mentioned in the site. Price charged was equivalent to 2 rooms in a 3 star hotel.
